RSL and Chicago Tangle For a Shot at the Cup

Soccer Tickets Online 13 November @ 07:14 AM EST

RSL and Chicago are going to square off on Saturday in a match where the Fire of Chicago have the unenviable task of playing the one team in the entire that no one wants a piece of anymore. If you asked me this is the perfect storm for the boys from Salt Lake and the worst storm for the Windy City squad.

Duff

Craven Cottage Newsround 28 October @ 05:42 PM EST

Back on the old UEFA coaching site. Watching Roy talk about 3-5-2 and the limitations of three centre-backs, he starts talking about why three centre backs sometimes don't want to leave the middle of the field.   He notes that these players are good headers of the ball, good tacklers, etc, but they are often reluctant to get out on the flanks where they have to face.

Soccerblog 10 October @ 07:51 AM EST

Not a literal reference to the Honduran coup which ousted Manuel Zelaya but the decision not to broadcast the match by the Honduran soccer federation.

From the US soccer website:

" In regards to the U.S. Men's National Team's match against Honduras on October 10, the rights are owned by the Honduras federation, which chose to sell the U.

8 Rounds In, Some Thoughts

MVFC Blog 28 September @ 08:04 PM EST

After a poor start to the season, we can breathe easy again. Two wins on the trot has put Melbourne a point from first place, though the A-League is so tight this season that we're still only in sixth place. But it's good to see the team hit some form at last.

With a third of the season almost done, I thought I'd pop in to share my thoughts on how the mighty Victory are faring this year.

Poor Luis Fabulouso! The Brazilian striker is depressed that the Milan move never materialized. He's also pessimistic about Sevilla's chances against Barca and Real in Spain.

"I expected the deal to go through, but it was a sad ending. Milan's leaders came to my manager's house, called me and spoke to me about an 'easy life' and that it would be all right.

Negredo to Hull City

Soccerblog 14 August @ 01:39 AM EST

Phil Brown confirms that striker Alvaro Negredo has been a Hull City transfer target. The club has been negotiating with Real for about six weeks and a deal is likely to be concluded soon. Real's insistence that a buyback clause be inserted into the contract has slowed down the process.

The Spanish giant will get £12 million for his transfer which will be a rare event since most of the focus this season has been of their profligate spending.
