Now, I hope that all readers hated the Euro 2012 Mars advert where a man was picked out of the
crowd to save some Dutch penalties. It's cheesiness genuinely made me feel ill. But, as ever, real
life has gone and been more suprising than fiction. When Scotland Ladies took on their Norwegian
counterparts in [.
England v Italy Euro 2012 Quarterfinal Preview - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
The final quarter-final of Euro 2012 takes place this evening as the Azzurri tackle Roy
Hodgson's England in Kiev with the winner setting up a rendezvous with Germany on Thursday
night.
It is a meeting of two of the tournaments more conservative sides that are well drilled,
disciplined and tactically aware.
Midway through the first half, this game turned on its head. The Czechs were impressive early on
– 55% possession, 9 crosses into the box (of their 11 total), 5 corners (of their 6 total), but
no shots on goal. Unfortunately, that advantage didn't last long.
In footage captured on the tram on the way to Poznan's Municipal Stadium (or, as
Balls.ie have it, back at the point when they were still 'drunk and optimistic'),
here we see a rabble of Irish fans attempting and largely succeeding to drown out the chants of
their Croatian counterparts with a hearty rendition of a haunting Celtic folk ballad the 'Home and
Away' theme tune.
szólj hozzá: Hearts vs Liverpool 0:1 Webster own goal
Liverpool had Hearts defender Andy Webster to thank as They beat their Scottish counterparts at
Tynecastle tonight, in their 1st leg Europa League play-off.
International teams from across Europe have battled for supremacy to become European Champions
since 1960 when France hosted the inaugural championships that were won by the Soviet Union with
Yashin, Ivanov & Bubukin out muscling their Yugoslav counterparts. 52 years and 13 finals later,
Poland & Ukraine host the championships with Spain arriving as both [.
Following on from the post I made earlier in the week regarding foreign players in the
Championship here we have the same information but for the top flight The Premier League. As you
would expect this division features a higher proportion of foreign players than the Championship.
However, it's interesting to note that 68 different nationalities were used in the Premier League
during the 2011/2012 season, one fewer 67 were used in the Championship.
Premier League managers and players might occasionally be on the receiving end of some terrible
abuse from their own supporters, but they can be thankful that English supporters don't wield as
much power as their Italian counterparts. Genoa ultras managed to hold-up their defeat to Siena for
40 minutes because they weren't happy with what [.

I still try to understand what our English winger Theo Walcott was trying to say when he went
ranting about how Arsenal is now a better side after the loss of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.
Well, that sounds pretty much like a consolatory remark to me. Whilst being a true Gunner, I still
can't remain adamant that our side has improved the teeniest bit when in fact, things have never
gotten any better.
An authoritative new report on replica kit deals across Europe's five major leagues shows that the
Premier League's 20 clubs collectively are making more money in 2011-12 from kit supplier contracts
than their counterparts in Spain, Italy, Germany and France.

Veteran defender Cory Gibbs underwent successful surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right
knee today at Glenbrook Hospital. The surgery was performed by team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jason
Koh from the NorthShore Medical Group. Gibbs suffered the injury during training on April 4. He is
expected to be out until at least July but his recovery might extend into the fall.
Boston Victory fell to the NELASA All-Stars 1-0 in Easton, Mass. on Saturday.
EASTON, Mass. Boston Victory showcased a furious display of firepower late, but fell short of
answering Almir Barbosa's game-winner and dropped a 1-0 loss to the New England Luso American
Soccer Association (NELASA) All-Stars during a preseason scrimmage on Saturday.
The Revolution Academy youth academy squads went 1-1-0 over the D.C. United youth teams on Mar.
10 in Washington, D.C.
The U-18s fell 4-2 in their match against the D.C. U-18s. Peguy Ngatcha (42′) and Mitchell
Taintor (60′) scored New England's goals, but it wasn't enough to combat D.C.
Several weeks ago, a concerned season ticket holder for the New England Revolution spoke to me
about all the frustrations his fellow fans were having with the organization. This person was new
to the area and proud to support his team, but put off a bit by how out of sorts the fans were over
their treatment in past years.
Of late, there have been many talking points regarding United States Soccer. The senior team has
turned in three straight wins, but they've been largely inconsistent in each of these past
performances. Prior to those three matches, Jurgen Klinsmann's teams have been hard to describe.
We've yet to see a distinctive style out of the senior team and that might prove worrisome.
Seattle Sounders coach Sigi Schmidt is one of the best in Major League Soccer. He reads his
opponents well, prepares a strategy to beat them, and relies on his well trained and motivated
troops to execute his plan. He was moderately successful on Saturday, being deprived of a win by an
industrious DC United side.
A point on the board, a clean sheet, on the road, and probably the better team by a slight
margin. All without two starters. Considering the struggles of the MLS Eastern Conference versus
their Western Conference counterparts, that's not a bad return.
Those less charitable might point out that Vancouver isn't really all that great and will
struggle to be involved in the playoff picture.
About a month ago I wrote a piece about the need of a DP in the league to remain relevant these
days. Recently Doug McIntyre, from ESPN the magazine, wrote about the same topic
(http://tinyurl.com/86r8jkq). We are not the only ones. It is becoming common
knowledge that in order to remain a true contender you not only need a young strong core, but also
a proven star.

It's another day of European football, and hopefully this time the English clubs can do better than their counterparts who play in the Premier League (Manchester United excepted, despite their shaky performance on Tuesday). We have three...

Despite speculation about all kinds of Arsenal players packing their bags and heading for the
exit door this summer, the departure lounge is still quite full.
A couple of loan moves have been sorted out but the futures of those who matter a bit more are
still up in the air. Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott have contract issues.

The U.S. WNT had some special guests today at training as the three U.S. Men's National Team
players who play (well, played) for the Glasgow Rangers were nice enough to stop by to watch some
practice and wish their WNT counterparts all the best in their Olympics.
Various schools of thoughts were gathered from last night's Causeway Challenge that saw the Lions

Blackburn Rovers fans have spent all season trying to get rid of the club owners who they blame for

Persib fans recently decided they had tired of Persib manager Umuh Muchtar, known in these parts as

The last few weeks and months of the Academy have highlighted its purpose for me; experiment and

Ahead of Israel's friendly with Ukraine, Maccabi Haifa hosted their Ukranian counterparts Dynamo
Kiev in a 60 minute friendly played in the strongest winds seen for some time. The wind was so
strong that when Haifa keeper Assaf Mendes took a goal kick, the ball held in the air before
blowing back into his own [.
