So the first off-season head has rolled, and it's not even a manager.
FC Dallas GM Michael Hitchcock was relieved of his duties on Tuesday – a move every bit as
surprising as Michael Moore making another movie about establishment greed in America. (They won't
actually replace Hitchcock, per se; they'll rearrange duties, hiring a technical director and
retaining John Wagner as head of the front office.

It has been announced that since the takeover of Birmingham city by a Hong Kong businessman that
David Gold was asked to take a role as Vice President of the club and the new owner, Carson Yeung,
was going to bring in someone who heads one of his companies. Â At that idea, Gold quit.
Can you blame him?

Major League Soccer is now some distance beyond meaningless matches in 2009 - apart from one, which
I'm sure you'll identify - and the playoff spots are starting to become occupied. One or two teams
have slipped badly in recent weeks and they need to pick up their form quickly to avoid their
season becoming a disaster.

Wow, and here I thought with Shalrie Joseph still playing and (reasonably) healthy, the Revs would
be OK and make the playoffs, even without Steve Ralston.
And then came the Debacle at the Cotton Bowl, losing 1-0 and being run around and off the field by
FC Dallas (FC DALLAS!

Following last week's excellent end-to-end shutout victory, FC Dallas again played a nearly
flawless match as they used a goal from the head of Jeff Cunningham to forge a 1-0 win over the New
England Revolution at a festive Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. Playing as opening billing to the
Mexico / Columbia friendly, FC Dallas beat the Revolution for the first time since 2006.

Maybe you've missed it, but Jeff Cunningham and FC Dallas are on fire right now. How ever you want
to define "recent form" they have it. Tonight, they even had fans in the stands. Yes, the game was

Its kind of weird to see the Cotton Bowl hosting MLS once again but tonight it happens. The New
England Revolution travel to Dallas to play part of a double header that will pretty much only
boost Dallas' dreadful season attendance figures.
New England comes into town on a fairly hot streak despite the fact they just lost one of their
key players Steve Ralston for the rest of the year to a knee injury.

The Black Stars will shine in South AfricaBrazil is known as the neutral's favorite, but I have always been partial to the African teams.
They seem to play without the crushing pressure that causes other teams to implode. The pride the
players feel when playing for their country is a little more palpable.

What is it with these two teams? The strangest crap happens when these two face off, and not just
this year. The latest 6-3 games isn't even in the top four as the history of this series is nuts.
Heck the series opened back in 1996 with a 5-2 Dallas win at the Cotton Bowl.

standings at this point. I know I made a bigger deal out of the standings a couple days ago and I
still stand by my thoughts about how I think the US are still fine even with the loss to
Mexcio.
There is still a lot of qualifying left to do.
