So after a few weeks of doing this mock draft it is time for the fifth and final one. Weeks of
speculation have come to this as tomorrow the league will hold its annual draft. I've gone back and

of them.
How will the Fire fare going forward in 2010? (Getty Images)
Today is the start of a new series. As teams get into training camp and new players come on
board its worth looking into each club to see how they are stacking up and what else they need to
do to get ready for the 2010 season. I got this idea from the post I did a few days back on how the
Philadelphia Union were looking.

Frank Klopas and the Fire technical staff committed highway robbery yesterday. Not only did the
Fire pick up Corben Bone and Kwame Watson-Siriboe in the draft much, much later than they were
projected to go, but they also began to fill two of the team's bigger needs in the process.

Will it be remembered for the fans from Philadelphia, New York and Washington D.C. converging on
the Philadelphia Convention Center? Or will it be remembered for the plethora of young talents who
helped make this draft one of the most promising in recent years?
Time to start thinking about this once again. This year it's a bit more complicated as two teams
will be making selections, but I don't expect the number of protected players (11) to change.
Especially since that same number was recently referenced after Portland was announced as picking
first on MLSsoccer.

Minnesota's Teal Bunbury is on most everyone's mock draft, going early and in
the top ten and quite possibly to Kansas City.

Attending the 2010 MLS SuperDraft in Philadelphia this past week, it was easy to see the influence
that the college game has on Major League Soccer.
15 of the 16 players selected in the first round were college soccer products,
including #1 pick Danny Mwanga of Oregon State, who was selected by the expansion Philadelphia
Union.

Every now and again in the world of sports, a player who was originally expected to be selected
with a top-5 pick will slide way down on draft day. These experiences, which are incredibly
uncomfortable/sad if the player is actually attending the draft (remember Brady Quinn and Aaron
Rodgers?

Only the penalty-saving heroics of RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando came between Chicago and a
coveted spot in last year's MLS Cup final.
In spite of the success, the Fire underwent a host of changes. Denis Hamlett was let go, Chris
Rolfe and Gonzalo Segares took off for Europe, and Cuauhtemoc Blanco headed home to Mexico.
The Fire dropped the opening match of the Sister Cities Tournament by losing to Paris
Saint-Germaine 1-0 in front of a US Open Cup sized crowd at Toyota Park. Both teams seemingly
appeared to approach the match as a typical friendly with little enthusiasm and sense of
urgency.
The first half was an uneventful one for the home side.
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- The Chicago Fire's 2010 first-round draft pick, midfielder Corben Bone, finally
was able to put in some worthwhile game-time minutes during Saturday's consolation match against
Legia Warsaw in the Sister Cities International Cup.
Bone got the start and played until the 57th minute during the Fire's 3-0 loss to Legia.
FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman will lead the way for the 19-man Generation adidas team as
they go to Spain next week. The team will train at the Real Madrid training facilities in

With the rumored departure of Freddie and the recent move of Wilman to Puebla, many of you are
trying to come up with who is going to start for the Fire next year. Instead of trying to convince
yourself that Corben Bone and Victor Pineda are ready to contribute next season you should be
fantasizing about what the Fire can do with the glorious amount of cap space they have.
MLS has recently shipped their Generation Adidas players, including our own Sean Johnson, Baggio
Husidic and Corben Bone, off to Spain for a short tour. The group consists of 15 of the current
Generation Adidas players, and is rounded out by an additional 4 recent graduates of the program
meant to expand the talent pool available to MLS.
