Cesc Fabregas and Xavi guide Barcelona to their 12th Copa Del Rey final. Leo Messi had a hand in
both goals. Gol TV's inimitable Ray Hudson, "Messi, like a gazelle through the
cheetahs" couldn't have said it better. They meet Athletic Bilbao in the final most likely on
25th May.
Barcelona are through to the Copa Del Rey final where they will play Athletic Bilbao after a 2-0
win over Valencia at the Camp Nou. Goals by Cesc Fabregas and a late strike by midfield maestro
Xavi helped seal a 2-0 win (3-1 on aggregate) for the Spanish champions. Pep Guardiola's men will
now face [.

FC Barcelona booked their place in the Copa Del Rey final with a 2-0 victory against Valencia at
Camp Nou. Goals from Cesc Fabregas and Xavi gave Barca a bit of nervous victory. Now the final will
be against Atletic Bilbao, between the two most successful teams in the Copa Del Rey history.

SPANISH CUP ( Copa del Rey ) action tonight with the semi final 2º leg match. FC BARCELONA greeted
VALENCIA CF (without forward Soldado, a last moment discard) with a 1 -1 "advantage" from the 1º
leg, & ended up adding to it winning tonight 2 - 0 ( 3 - 1 agg ). Thus the victory puts Barça into
the Final of the Spanish Cup were they will meet Athletic Club Bilbao.
Valencia's Aritz Aduriz articulates far more succinctly that we ever could why base layers are bad.

Alright. And maybe some slightly larger things.
Serie A
Catania 1-1 Roma
There were only twenty-five minutes to play in Catania and Roma's rescheduled match from January,
but this was long enough for Erik Lamela to show off his assets to the fullest.
The are important matches in domestic cup play across a number of countries, none of which is
more intriguing than the Coppa Italia battle between AC Milan and Juventus.
The top two teams in Serie A open their anticipated semifinal tie at the San Siro after easing
past top-notch competition in the quarterfinals.
There is plenty of high-profile soccer going on around the world this Wednesday, but perhaps no
games carry as much significance as the two African Cup of Nations semifinals. Ivory Coast and
Ghana took care of business in the African Cup of Nations quarterfinals with matching 3-0
victories, and all that stands in the way of a star-studded tournament final is one more win for
each team.

Pep Guardiola took a leaf out of Bastian Schweinsteiger's

course, the only game on his mind tonight is Barcelona's Copa del Rey semi-final against
Valencia when his newly crowned "Laureus World Team of the Year" take
them on in the Nou Camp.

Mirandes, the giant killing third division Liga club bowed out beaten by Athletic Bilbao, 6-2,
in the second leg of the Copa Del Rey (8-3 aggregate). Fernando Llorente showed why he's on the
wishlist of some of the world's biggest clubs by scoring a brace. Athletic also got goals from Iker
Muniain, Markel Susaeta and defender Jon Aurtenetxe.

Lionel Messi scored one and assisted another as Barcelona successfully fought off their San
Sebastian rivals in a freezing, sub-zero encounter at the Camp Nou.
Pep Guardiola rolled out the reserves for this one, choosing to rest key starters ahead of his
team's Copa del Rey semi final clash with Valencia on Wednesday.

Fox Soccer has an FA Cup Fourth Round replay: Middlesbrough - Sunderland at 3pm. This is a
Northeast derby, so there's that angle. The original game ended 1-1 at Sunderland's Stadium of
Light. Copa del Rey on GolTV: Barcelona - Valencia at 3pm in the second-leg of their semifinal
series. They drew 1-1 in the opener.

Miracle is the word that comes to mind as Mirandes go to Bilbao in the second leg of the Copa
del Rey semi-final. Marcelo Bielsa's Athletic Bilbao won 2-1 at Mirandes' Estadio Anduva last week,
and the odds are overwhelming leaning towards them to reach the final, where they'll play Barcelona
or Valencia.

Athletic Bilbao midfielder Oscar de Marcos insists his side will show Mirandes total respect on
Tuesday night as the two clubs clash in the Copa del Rey semi-final.
Athletic, whose record of 23 Copa titles is second only to Barcelona (25), are favourites
heading into the semi-final second leg after earning a 2-1 lead from last week's first meeting at
Mirandes' Anduva stadium.

Barcelona rallied from a goal down to ensure a 1-1 draw against Valencia in the first leg of
their semi final showdown in the Copa del Rey.
La Mestalla provided all of the hostility the Catalans could handle, as Valencia came
out of the gates in a surging frenzy, mounting unrelenting pressure in the opening minutes trying
to force a crack in Barcelona's defensive armor.

A day after a riot at a club soccer game in Egypt left at least 74 dead and many others injured,
Egypt's prime minister has dissolved the Egyptian FA's board.
Kamal el-Ganzouri announced the decision to dissolve the board during Thursday's emergency
parliamentary session, and also said that the governor of Port Said (where the game took place) and
the area's police chief have resigned.

Watch, mere mortals, and weep as the slightly more 'agricultural' 50% of Barcelona's central
defence pulls off not one, but two 360° roulette tricks in a row as he maraudes his way through
Valencia's midfield during last night's Copa del Rey semi-final first leg.
According to Gaizka Mendieta , there is a big possibility that Barca coach Pep Guardiola could
soon be on his way out of the record breaking club. A lot of uncertainty has arisen over
Guardiola's future following his shocking denial on Tuesday that he was close to signing a new
contract.
It doesn't make any sense why Pep would want to leave Barcelona.
Que dulce! Valencia kept to their promise to the fans last night and
held Barca to a 1-1 draw with a 27th minute screamer from Jonas. Part of the promise was to play
their best and not lose in front of the home fans, so this result is significantly better than a
loss.
Valencia served a reminder of its proud heritage as a football team holding Barca and then
denied Leo Messi a PK goal in the Copa Del Rey semi-finals first leg.
Jonas gave the home side the lead at the Mestalla but Carles Puyol who seems to have made a
career scoring very important headers equalized for the Blaugrana.

The first leg of Barcelona's Copa del Rey semifinal against Valencia was a bit of an odd game
for them. Not because they failed to win away from home -- that's become something of a norm this
season -- but because Lionel Messi had a penalty kick saved (plus he's got some kind of beard-like
facial growth going on) and Carles Puyol scored their only goal.
It was a depleted Barcelona side that turned up in Valencia tonight, but it was also a team that
does't give and they got a credible 1-1 draw in their Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg. Barca will
be heavy favorites now to finish this tie off at the Camp Now.
Barca were given an early scare when Roberto Soldado raced onto a through ball, but Pinto came
racing out of his goal to slide in and clear the danger, appearing to use his hand as he did so,
only for play to be waved on.

Valencia keeper Diego Alves makes a great save from a Lionel Messi spot-kick to
give his side a 1-1 draw to bring to the Nou Camp in their Copa del Rey semi-final second leg.
FC Barcelona took a good step towards proceeding to Copa Del Rey final with a 1-1 draw at
Mestella. Considering how tough we have found recently in Valencia, this draw is as good as a win -
especially because of the away goal. In the 27th minute Jonas put Valencia ahead, but Carles Puyol
equalised for Barca in the 36th minute.

place.
Queens Park Rangers' newest signings Djibril Cisse and Taye Taiwo are in the starting lineup for
the club's match at Aston Villa, which has Robbie Keane in the starting lineup and Americans Brad
Guzan and Eric Lichaj ready on the bench.
Tonight is the Spanish Copa de Rey semifinal between Valencia and FC Barcelona. FC Barcelona
defeated Real Madrid in the semifinal, after which it has been widely proclaimed that FC Barcelona
will now win the tournament. Only the most die-hard Valencia fans believe otherwise. I don´t
believe otherwise.
Two goals from Fernando Llorente has given Athletic Bilbao a 2-1 first-leg advantage in their
Copa del Rey semi-final against giant-killers Mirandes, and seriously dented the Cinderella dreams
of the third division team.
Llorente scored twice in the first half to seemingly put Athletic firmly in control of this
tie.
