Tasked with getting a pitch invader off the field of play during a match between Maccabi Haifa and Beitar Jerusalem, this Israeli policeman might have opted for his truncheon, CS spray or any other number of options to detain the intruder. But he decided 'when in Rome...' and opted for the trusty two-footed tackle instead.
Flag FAIL Roma forward Osvaldo smacked a crisp bicycle kick into the net against Lecce last week.
Cop a load of this. While Osvaldo was doing a Rooney, the assistant referee was doing a disservice
to fans of the game everywhere. He flagged for offside and the goal was disallowed. If you pause
the video [.
This month's issue of Q Magazine comes with a free CD celebrating the 20 year anniversary of U2's
incredible Achtung Baby. Entitled AHK-toong BAY-bi, it's a track-by-track covers album featuring
Depeche Mode, Snow Patrol, The Killers, Glasvegas and a bunch of other rich people bands taking on
the classic album from 1991.
My former work wife and author of the upcoming (and allegedly controversial) memoir/design for life
Record Collecting for Girls put me on to this new clip from CHLLNGR today. The visuals are
beautifully creepy while the track boasts some seriously The Chronic-esque keys and a haunting,
implied-dub bass line.
I love animals, so it's a wonder there hasn't been more clips of this kind at NSC. Here, a
Brazilian police dog get's a little too excited and a bit of the spotlight. And I'd presume, his
butterfingered handler got a slightly used soccer ball and a bill for one new soccer ball.Said the
embarrassed cop afterward: "(W)oof.
A LITTLE OVER TWO YEARS AGO I MENTIONED SOME "SH*TTY LITTLE KIDS FROM EAST L.A." CALLED FUNERAL
PARTY. I DUG THEM. STILL DO. UNFORTUNATELY FOR THE BAND MY COLLEAGUES AT MTV DID NOT.

COCAINE STRUT, COP IT ON MARCH 29.
Like the players they oversee, football managers can also be prone to the dramatic arts. Walter Knario of Brazilian club Cambre was sent off for comments he made to the referee, but the enraged manager refused to go. Instead, he dropped to his knees in front of a police officer and held up his hands asking to be cuffed.
For many fans in attendance at the Brazil's 4-1 win over the U.S. not wearing yellow and samba
dancing while drinking criminally overpriced beer, this was the best moment of the match. After
Pato scored the game's final goal in the 87th minute, Richard Simmons' illegitimate step-son ran
out to the center of the pitch and slid through the center circle.
AEL edged Anderlecht, BATE defeated Hapoel, Malaga blanked Panathinaikos, Dinamo beat Maribor,
and Udinese held Braga in the UEFA Champions League on August 22, 2012.
AEL 2-1 Anderlecht
Greek side AEL got goals from Dossa Junior and Melo Rui Miguel to get the narrow victory.
Anderlecht did level the match for 11 minutes but a 75th minute Milan Jovanovic red card ended any
realistic chance of a draw.

In this edition of "When kit men attack" we have the case of Fluminense's kit man having a bit
of a freakout over a disallowed goal. Late in a scoreless match against Atletico Mineiro,
Fluminense had a goal ruled offside (video above). Several Fluminense players ran over the linesman
and gave him a talking to, but it's the man who didn't quite make it that now faces a ban of up to
12 matches.
Poor old Roberto Martinez is having a hard old time of it. Not only does the doe-eyed Spaniard
have to find a way to wake his underperfoming Wigan side from its early season coma, but he now has
to deal with the likely suspension of his Paraguayan defender Antolín Alcaraz.
Votuporanguense beat Fernandopolis 2-1 in a Brazilian fourth division match that ended with a
brawl and 12 red cards. The unrest began when the winning side's striker was taken down by
Fernandopolis' goalkeeper on a one v one. The keeper was shown the first red, then the everyone got
angry.
Chicago Riot goalkeeper Ante Cop's game-winning strike against the Baltimore Blast ranked third
among the 2010-2011 Major Indoor Soccer League Goals of the Year.
BALTIMORE, Md. -- For the second time this season, the Chicago Riot's Ante Cop scored a
game-winning goal against the Baltimore Blast as Chicago earned an 11-9 overtime victory Friday in
Major Indoor Soccer League action at 1st Mariner Arena.
The Riot (5-14) ended a four-game losing streak and became the only team in the league to defeat
Baltimore (14-4) twice this season.
Recently, I had the distinct privilege to interview Chicago Riot goaltender Ante Cop. It's not
every day that you get the chance to interview a professional soccer player who has played all over
the world and has been very successful everywhere he has taken the field. It was amazing to hear
his personal insights and stories from his soccer playing years.
Striker will not be announced today; HTIOT schedule note
Sam Stejskal is reporting that the international striker who allegedly was going to arrive today
has had their paperwork not come through. The story of the Fire's off-season seemingly...
I promised some schedule analysis but I went off in a couple of different directions so there
are multiple drafts but no finished product.
Croatian Eagles manager Alex Toth took every second allowable before deciding whether
Bryce Boyd (Milwaukee Marquette/UW-Milwaukee) or former professional Ante Cop would start in
goal for the team's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup opener Tuesday night.
Ramon "Choko" Alvarado (Franklin) scored early, Scott Raymonds (Brookfield
East/UW-Green Bay) scored late and veteran goalkeeper Ante Cop and his backline handled the
rest Saturday as the Croatian Eagles moved within one win of a berth in the 99th Lamar Hunt U.S.
Open Cup.
The Eagles got past Croatian rival RWB Adria 2-0 in a first-round match of the U.
Typically I restrict myself to talking about wet, hot America soccer but if there is a player with
no North American angle that I can make an exception for it is Zidane. Have you seen the Zizou
shirts from 3NIL? So necessary. I'm going to cop one in hopes that it will make me look worldly.
In what has to be the most awesomely-unholy union in the history of soccer shirts, them boys at
Bumpy Pitch have teamed up with Nike for a new USMNT-themed tee. If you don't cop this now you will
regret it later.
And I'm not just talking to my dudes here, ladies you can rock this as well and let all of your
disgraced beauty queen fantasies flow forth from the sash.
Arsenal Tottenham games are always spicy affairs, but today it has a little extra spice attached

Arsenal may have a Champions League game to play tonight, but already the tension is building ahead
of the Derby against Spurs on Sunday afternoon. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has added to the rising
tension with his comments today that he is expecting his new striker Emmanuel Adebayor to cop

The dust has settled on what was a crazy January transfer window. One of the biggest names in world
football switched teams, and several up-and-coming players will be plying their trade in new
locales. Obviously, much attention has been focused on the move of Fernando Torres to Chelsea, but
there was a lot more action.
Brum fans salute McLeish, plus Peter Pannu's pint pitfall, wicked whistle and daft
quotes of the week
Not quite sure how Birmingham fans feel about their former manager... (See pic above) **
Birmingham's acting chairman Peter Pannu was sadly absent from their triumphant Europa League
qualifier on Thursday night.
Despite rumors that's he's unhappy in Russia (even with his record setting wages) and looking
for a move back to a more traditional European power, Samuel Eto'o has ended his goal drought with
Anzhi and seems to be enjoying himself on the pitch again.
Eto'o scored twice in Anzhi's 3-1 win over Lokomotiv Moscow on Saturday and after he embarrassed
a couple of defenders in added time, he celebrated by running over to a group of policemen.
FC Barcelona has been drawn with Osasuna for the next round of Cop del Rey clash. The draw took
place today morning and had thrown up some interesting posibilities for next round. Guardiola
wouldn't be happy with the dates for the Last 16 round. The frist leg will take place at Camp Nou
between jan 3 to Jan 5.
So, having toyed with resembling England's men in 2006 and 2010, Hope Powell's England finally
plumped for Bobby Robson's 1986-vintage, coming (very) good in their last group game after early
stutters. Of course, they also resembled England's women from 2007 which, against Japan, was just
the right example to follow.
Angel gets his second gol of the season in the Galaxy's dismantling of Sporting KC
Apologies for not getting comments on the recent games sooner. I'm traveling on the East Coast
and its playing havoc with my blogging schedule. But it has been interesting to note how much my
take on Philadelphia is tempered by watching the Kansas City game.
Cop this, Jesse Fink, SBS Leading football writer, get's stuck into Mike Cockerill SMH@s leading
football writer for Mike's piece on Frank Lowy.
What makes me laugh is that Jesse and Mike have both written to me, Jesse somewhat abusively, Mike
somewhat aggressively telling me to desist in criticism of them both and what they write.
It's safe to say that Johnny Jolly will never play in the NFL again. In fact, Jolly may never be
a free man again. The defensive end for the Green Bay Packers was arrested on Friday for having
more than 400 grams of codeine when he was pulled over by a cop on a traffic stop. On Wednesday, a
judge denied him bond, which means Jolly will have to stay in jail until at least April 20th.
Deion Sanders recently said that Dez Bryant needs help and insinuated that Dez Bryant is a liar.
Those comments are holding more and more weight as we learn more about the wide receiver for the
Dallas Cowboys. It's obvious that Dez Bryant needs some sort of help and that's exactly what Deion
Sanders has been saying.
