This animosity between Real Madrid and Barcelona is getting out of hand. Yesterday I wrote how
Barcelona chief Sandro Rosell said that Ronaldo would not get in the Barcelona first team.
Well today we learn that Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has fired the club's academy youth
director, Alberto Giraldez, for praising former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola.
Cayman Islands FA president Jeffrey Webb is now the 4th president of the CONCACAF confederation. He
was the lone candidate for the position (29 nominations out of the 40 members) and was voted by

years of service at the national FA, CFU, CONCACAF, and FIFA committees, and has accumulated the
contacts that go along with such service.

new PSSI president. According to a statement published on the FIFA website, the "elective congress,

They're at it again. Indonesian football seemingly can't make up its mind when it really wants to
be kicked out of FIFA and has now delayed the elections for a new head until 9 July, pushed back
from 30 June. The election, and accompanying congress, will be overseen by up to 1,400 security
personnel!
According to the 7.30 program of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Football Federation
Australia has "issued a statement saying it has expressed concern about the World Cup bid process
being flawed, and that while major reform of FIFA is overdue, it didn't see much merit in making an
empty gesture alongside a small minority at the congress.
By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (May 26, 2011) US Soccer Players -- It should be a tough weekend
for FIFA. With more media intensity than they should've expected directed towards next week's
Congress and the FIFA presidential elections, they now have an Ethics Committee meeting as the
opening act. Depending on the version of the story, either corruption is rampant among senior
officials on the Executive Committee including a presidential candidate, or this is.

It's not only our maker who moves in mysterious ways. The Indonesian FA, known locally as the PSSI,
are known for their unconventional decisions.
Alfred Riedl has yet to be confirmed as Under 23 coach. Apparently he was faxed a contract which he
couldn't make head nor tail of and now the FA are asking for the government to stump up part of his
salary.
CONCACAF announced a few days ago that Jeffrey Webb, a banker and current president of the Cayman
Islands FA, will be the only candidate for the CONCACAF presidency. The vote won't occur until
CONCACAF's Extraordinary Congress in Budapest in late May, but given that Webb received
endorsements from 25 of the 40 member associations, something significant would have to happen for
him to lose support.
The CONCACAF Congress has been taking place in Miami this week, and the proceedings have been
dominated by the CONCACAF executive elections and the impending FIFA elections. To the surprise of
no one, Jack Warner ran unopposed for a sixth term as CONCACAF President, and he was elected
unaminously. The other positions on the executive committee were contested, and here are the
results: CONCACAF VP North America: Justino Compeán (Mexico) CONCACAF VP Central America: Ariel
Alvarado (Panama) CONCACAF VP Caribbean: Lisle Austin (Barbados) FIFA Executive Committee, Central
American region: Rafael Salguero (Guatemala) The Executive Committee also approved its own

It looks like Real Madrid could enter the second leg of the Champions League semifinals against
Barcelona in worse shape than it is already in.
UEFA rejected Real Madrid's new complaints on Barcelona on Monday, and has instead opted to
examine six combined charges on the two teams later this week, five of which are against Real
Madrid.
CONCACAF president Jack Warner hopes to remain president of CONCACAF, announcing he will run for

was in attendance.

Of course the link between Kaka and Carlo Ancelotti for the most part, maybe started the rumours of
Kaka coming to Chelsea in the first place when the player was looking to leave Milan. Now that
things in Madrid haven't exactly gone as planned for the 29 year old Brazilian since his move there
two years ago, Chelsea were once again linked with the player back in the summer and again this
week.
Here's Pele with Brazilian President Lula at the opening ceremony of the 121st IOC session and
XIII Olympic Congress in the Opera house in Copenhagen on Thursday. Note that Lula is clearly wary
of the easily excitable Pele. He tries not to look at him as the legendary footballer eyes him up
while going in for a handshake with another man.
Andy Najar is the 18-year old winger, already believed by some to be one of DC United's best
players. He had an impressive first season, making 28 appearances and scoring 5 goals. That
performance created a lot of buzz, particularly because he is a US resident on a path to
citizenship and could play for the USMNT or for his home country, Honduras.
Nearly two weeks ago, the President's State of the Union Address struck a hopeful and at times
confrontational tone. Informing both the ineffective Congress and an impatient country that there
remained much work to be done, the President also... Read more

Thanks, Gary, for sending along Paul Krugman's excellent piece (see below) re. the defeat of the

I'm basically too discouraged and/or angry to write about anything other than England's
history-making run on the soccer pitch.
In this episode, Ginge discusses how the controversial SOPA and PIPA bills currently in Congress

FIFA ExCo member and grand high wizard of the Asian Football Confederation Mohamed Bin Hammam
has called for FIFA president Sepp Blatter to stand from his post, claiming that 35 years in the
job may just may have left ol' Unkie Sepp susceptible to the odd bit of corruption hither and
thither.
This is a story that has been running for a while but I haven't bothered touching it because I'm
not always sure of my translation skills! This piece comes from the Jakarta Globe and covers the
problem pretty well. Two groups have come forward claiming management control over Persija Jakarta, the latest in a
series of internal disputes that has plagued the capital club.
Indonesia's new Austrian coach Alfred Riedl hasn't even got his Welcome Home mat down at his
apartment yet and people are wondering if he has a future here. And this despite just signing a two
year contract.
Politicians are now wondering why Indonesia is unable to succeed at any level in football given the
passion that exists for the game here and the quality players out there.
I had thought that this year's CFU club championship would keep the same format as last year, which
was a combination of two-legged early rounds and single-match semifinals and final (and third-place
game). I had also hoped that there wouldn't be any cancellations and last minute changes to the
competition.
My brothers from another mother, Unprofessional Foul, pointed out today that this whole girlfight
thing is getting well out of hand in ladies soccer at the moment. If a magical third incident
occurs in the next 10 days you can be damn sure Oprah will do a show on it, Judy Foudy will have to
testify before congress and Lil Jon will have a go at reigniting Brooke Valentine's "career" with a
remix of "Girlfight" featuring 16 bars from Elizabeth Lambert.

FAIR had had their way in the past thirty years of their campaigning? As the debate on immigration
