Anton, or is that your name? Now, touch my skin. Worship it.

One should ask the FA why they did such a thorough job investigating Luis Suarez's racial abuse of Patrice Evra and then drop the ball on John Terry doing the same against Anton Ferdinand? Suarez gets an eight match ban, while Terry gets rewarded with a deferment of his trial till after the 2012 Euro is over and retains his captaincy of the Three Lions to boot.

The news from a few days ago that FIFA have torn up the World Cup TV contract with the Caribbean Football Union is the clearest indication that former CONCACAF president Jack Warner has run out of friends at the world governing body. FIFA's explanation for the decision was that they were made aware that the rights deal was sublicensed by one of Warner's companies, JD International, and therefore posed a conflict of interest.

England overcame World War II buoyed by the bulldog spirit of Winston Churchill, the perfect choice for a war time leader. Yet, it was Clement Atlee who was voted to rebuild an England recovering from the war's aftermath and the decline of empire. 50 years later these two men rank in the list of greatest leaders.

It's kind of interesting how standards change because of needs. I've mentioned a few times on here before, that I had a conversation with an assessor who said her first decision is who needs a real referee crew, and who can get by with just a "body" to fulfill USSF requirements. On the other hand, now that I'm involved in roller derby, it's very very common to see significant others wearing stripes (or non-skating official jerseys) in matches.

The corollary. Sepp Blatter, FIFA president for life!

Mohamed Bin Hammam is banned from all footballing activity for life as the FIFA ethics (now that is an oxymoron) committee finds him guilty of bribery charges as feared but we all know who is smiling through all this.

The preparations are underway for Saturday's Champions League extravaganza! Cameras are being set up around the stadium, players are arriving in London (boyband swagger and all geez!) and the trophy is probably being polished in a fancy factory somewhere. Unless you're an annoyed Basque supporter (many of them are ready to annoy the living daylights out of the Catalans and Madrilenos), you have exactly two days to make your predictions.

While Sepp Blatter is gearing up for his upcoming campaign for another term as FIFA president, he's also making banal statements on various soccer-related subjects. Admittedly, this is something he does with amazing consistency regardless of whether he is or isn't on the stump. The topics aren't new, and neither are the opinions.
