The Brazilian team was highly motivated as they entered the pitch for the final of the Confederations Cup against the World Champions of Spain tonight. I must admit that I had doubted that Brazil would be able to pull it off, but they were indeed far superior to the Spanish, who were unable to put pressure on Brazil, and the few chances they created were wasted in part due to bad luck.

Will Paulinho and Neymar celebrate for Brazil

Brazil take on Spain on Sunday in what is regarded as the ‘dream final' of the Confederations Cup. Despite doubts over Paulinho (flu), and knocks to Thiago Silva and David, coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is expected to put out the same starting eleven that he has fielded throughout the campaign.

The Confederations Cup has been without surprises, and everything points to a final between the Brazilian hosts and the world champions of Spain. Both sides won all their matches in the first round, but Spain was surely the better team, winning all matches with style, except against Uruguay, but that they can only blame themselves for.

Hernanes set to come in for the injured Paulinho

Brazil face Italy in Salvador on Saturday with both teams already assured of their place in the next phase. However, there is still plenty at stake with the seleção and the Azzurri keen to avoid a meeting with Spain in the semi-final.
The South Americans will be without their influential midfielder, Paulinho, who picked up an ankle injury.

The Confederations Cup is on! While it promises to be one of the most interesting Confederations Cup ever, the opening match between Brazil and Japan was a disappointment. Brazil did just what they had to do to defeat a poor Japanese side 3-0. While the Japanese were indeed a huge disappointment one did not have the feeling that Brazil was feeling comfortable.

Brazil start their Confederations Cup campaign against Japan on Saturday in the estádio Mané Garrincha in Brasília. In a group that includes Mexico and Italy, the hosts are more than aware that a convincing result against Japan is essential.
