The Guardian called it a low-rent performance. I'm not one to argue with such a
statement. However, thanks to some inept officiating and a micro-flash of brilliance from Fernando
Torres, it's three points gained from a match we likely would have lost a month ago.
How tough is that result on Wigan?
The timing was perfect two-and-a-half years ago. Stewart Gilmour had been St. Mirren chair
longer than anyone else in the club's then 132-year history. He had overseen a ground move which,
with the help of Tesco (other supermarket chains are available), had left the "Buddies"
debt-cleared. And, perhaps conscious that the Scottish professional football model wasn't
over-conducive to debt-freedom, he and a consortium of fellow directors put their collective
shareholding, a controlling 52%, up for sale in September 2009.
The impending season would be tough but the mere mention of Anthony Gardner was comic relief for
RedknappHere we sit, dear friends, on the verge on another Premier League season. The players have
had their break, we've had ours, pre-season has come and gone and now it's time to deliver. It may

Aw, come on. It's got action and rivalries and disappointments and thrills! What do you say -
Women's World Cup, everybody!
*tumbleweeds*
*wolf howling in the distance*
Look, people.
Mike Magee: Comic relief for cloudy days In a sense, we are all still hung over from the great
panic in Pasadena. It smarts. There is little else to do but accept the failure of the day and all
its implications, push them aside and plow ever onward. Thankfully, we have MLS to turn to, which
for now will be a welcome ointment for the Dos a Cuatro gash the Mexicans so brazenly left us with,
For 78 minutes on a bright Saturday afternoon in Manchester, the Manchester Derby had been a
decent football game. Even with both teams lining up in a 4-5-1, the first hour of the game was
still far better than the snore fest at Eastlands (though that isn't really saying much).
Yes, we here at the Chelsea Offside have taken it upon ourselves to recommend a replacement for
now ex-Sky commentator Andy Gray...
He couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo...
Yes, let the Chris Kamara era begin!
The following videos are mere snippets from matches; imagine what comedy and insight the man
could provide with a mic on him for 90-plus minutes.
