Having watched a video of some spuds struggling to find a highlight to their ‘best ever team'
season, I started to ponder which were the highlights of my Arsenal season. As I went back through
the games, I realised that, even though this was a big dipper of a ride, with lurching troughs and
exultant peaks, there were so many truly memorable moments this season I could have chosen.

As Arsenal threw away two vital points in the race for third, Norwich City left the Emirates
with a 3-3 draw, after a match that can only be compared with a 90-minute rollercoaster ride.
As Arsene Wenger celebrated his 900th game in charge of the Gunners, the Canaries pounced on
Arsenal's mistakes and were able to grab an excellent point that summed up their impressive first
season back in the Premier League.
Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has warned Manchester City that the title race isn't
over yet. The 22-year-old pointed to United's track record of comebacks as he insisted that Sir
Alex Ferguson's men have not given up yet. Cleverley, who was helping to launch Adidas' new
Predator Lethal Zones boot, said: "The title race isn't [.
The Los Angeles Clippers have just completed one of the most amazing comebacks you will ever see
in the NBA playoffs. Down by as many as 27 points against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Clippers came
all the way back to win the game. With the win, the Clippers take a 1-0 series lead over the
Grizzlies in the best of seven series.
Merseyside pride and a place in the FA Cup final will be at stake when Liverpool and Everton
rekindle their fierce rivalry at Wembley Stadium.
A semi-final showdown at the home of English football appears to have all the makings of a cup
classic, with derby tensions adding extra spice to what is always a special occasion.
The semifinals of the UEFA Europa League will be determined on Thursday, with the possibility of
four teams with Americans reaching the penultimate round in the competition still lingering.
As it stands, Jozy Altidore's AZ Alkmaar and the injured Oguchi Onyewu's Sporting Lisbon are in
the driver's seat after the opening legs, while Steve Cherundolo's Hannover and Jermaine Jones'
Schalke are in need of comebacks in order to maintain their quests for European silverware.
Just when Arsenal thought it had gotten rid of that fish head
The weekend did not prove to be too kind to Arsenal's prospects of finishing in the top four.
They lost to QPR and their rivals, Chelsea, Spurs, and Newcastle all caught a headwind to put
Arsenal's hopes for a top four finish in jeopardy.
The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has plenty reasons to be a happy man at the moment. Besides the
fact that the team is on a fantastic run at the moment and has managed some impressive games and
some incredible comebacks, the Gunners seem to be on the way to getting fully fit as well.

North London Is Red
The perfect response on what was a testing week leading up to this North London Derby. The
mother of all comebacks and a beating that they well and truly deserved. This was a performance of
character and desire. Forget the win at Stamford Bridge, this sets the bar on a whole completely
different level.
Olympique Lyonnais vs. Paris Saint-Germain
Week 25 – Ligue 1 – Stade Municipal de Gerland
A well rested Lyonnais takes on PSG. The last time OL could afford a week's rest was about a
month ago. Seven matches have been played since. While the start to the bunch of matches was full
of comebacks and survival stories (and GOALS!
O que é isso? Is Mano Menezes down-talking
Neymar in that photo above? He could just be shouting out instructions although
let's face it, you can't really teach the FIFA Puskas Award Winner how to score a goal!
Menezes announced his 23-man squad to face Bosnia on February
28th which features Ronaldinho's unexpected return and the surprising exclusion of
Kaka, who recently returned to form with Real Madrid.
There was a time under the soon to be booted nicest man in football when Sydney won 1-0 - boring
but they won.
Then in season 2, they lost 1-0. More boring and more frustrating.
Now in Season 3 they lose, by 3, 4 or 5 and that's at home.
Mr Lavicka might be nice - but he's a pretty ordinary coach.
At half-time today, I admit that I feared the worst. We were losing 2-0 and staring in the face of
exit from a competition which, realistically, offered our best opportunity of silverware this
season. Fast forward 45 minutes, and Arsenal had completed one of the more memorable comebacks of
recent times.
Jose Mourinho To Manchester City? The rumours linking the Real Madrid boss to Eastlands grow and In
The Stands' Rolly Pelovangu warns that if Mourinho does become City coach then they will dominate
the Premier League Sporting comebacks are usually special things. Who can forget the return of
Thierry Henry to Arsenal after five years [.
Before I launch into not writing the preview of a game that is barely 8 hours away at the time
this is published, I'd like to say What the whaaaaat?
The purple is to make sure the extent of shock is clear. The girl is incidental. Really.
It was ok when Henry lumbered on against Leeds (don't get all self-righteous-Arsenal fan on me
now, you know he looked slower.
Of course Henry had to score didn't he? For all the talk about the return and the love for the
club and the sheer timing of statuesque honours, of course he had to score. For all the French
connection and the highest scorer title and the completely un-Wengeresque move to accept a
deficiency in his squad, of course he had to score.
Paul Scholes is back to Utd
Man Utd is making Rob Smyth eat his words. Wayne Rooney has scored two including a penalty and
Danny Welbeck's wondrous volley rounds of the tally.
Vincent Kompany was sent off in the 12th minute for a two footed tackle on Nani which got the
ball but not the man however Chris Foy, who else (memories of the Spurs vs Stoke match linger on)
thought differently.
In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over
those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism,
which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand
scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism
designating it so.
The big news today out of Denver is that Brady Quinn took half the snaps with the first team during
practice. If the purpose of these snaps were to keep Quinn sharp in case of an injury to Tebow,
than having him take snaps is understandable.

Dinamo Zagreb Lyon match fixed? Domagoj Vida wink Video Gomis 2011 Champions League 1-7 is a post
from Soccer Blogger. Follow Soccer Blogger on Twitter Olympique Lyon produced one of the greatest
Champions League comebacks of all time, thrashing Dinamo Zagreb 7-1 last night ( December 7, 2011)
with Bafetimbi Gomis scoring four goals.
Auxerre vs. Olympique Lyonnais,
Matchday 15, Ligue 1
"If you're going to do things differently, you might as well be bad at them. "
This message is what team Lyonnais seems to be reading every morning for the past two months. Of
course, nobody would have expected them to continue their fine form of the first twelve games
throughout the rest of the season.
The Denver Broncos are not the only recipients of the unbridled optimism of Colorado sports fans
and writers.
Trailing Kansas City 2-0 on aggregate when they take the field tonight at Livestrong Sporting
Park in Kansas, the Colorado Rapids have suddenly become the beneficiaries of miraculous hopes for
improbable outcomes.
In one of the most amazing comebacks of all-time, the St. Louis Cardinals have won the 2011
World Series. Once 10.5 games back in the NL Wild Card race, and down to their final strike in two
different innings of the World Series, the Cardinals are now champions.
Game 7 actually didn't start out very well for the Cardinals.
Owen Hargreaves must have the patience of a saint, given he has spent the best part of three years
on the treatment table.
The 30-year-old last started a game for United in September 2008 after suffering from tendinitis in
both knees.
Several aborted comeback attempts have been made since, including a start against Wolves last
November that barely lasted five minutes before a hamstring injury forced him from the field.
The Chicago Fire return to action tonight after a long break due to the FIFA International
calendar. Their opponent is a familiar one as the Fire played the San Jose Earthquakes twice in the
last week in May. The first game was the infamous U.S. Open Cup game where Chicago advanced thanks
to San Jose's Scott Sealy hitting the crossbar on the last PK attempt.
After returning from my lengthy vacation, it took me some time to get back into my usual rhythm
regarding the Whitecaps. The game against Portland is the first game I've seen for about six solid
weeks, and I can't say I saw any improvements in my Whitecaps.
Like usual I got home late and turned on the TV with the game already started.
The following graphic shows games Liverpool won with goals after the 80th minute. This obviously
does not count those where Liverpool equalized to pilfer a point – such as last spring's late
late late penalty to draw at Arsenal – or games where they've piled on the misery – as against
Birmingham under Dalglish, Steaua under Hodgson, etc.
Call them showboats or call them fluff, call them arrogant or call them hype. It doesn't matter
because these athletes produced. Andre Agassi, Dennis Rodman and Deion Sanders gave the sporting
public some of the best drama of all time.
Manchester United 3 v Manchester City 2. Isn't life great? Somehow a win like today's Charity
Shield comeback of comebacks seems so much sweeter and so much more rewarding than if we had beaten
them 4-0. Nothing makes you feel better about your team, it's prospects for the future and it's
overall makeup than an outstanding come from [.
Will someone please tell me how that happened? I'm pretty sure Danny Califf's fifth-minute goal
in Houston was like last week...but apparently it was some five and a half months ago. Time flies
when you're having fun/winning, I guess? Today's open discussion thread for all things Union and
MLS.
Union not done shopping Ruiz [Philadelphia Inquirer Sports] - The Inquirer cites a source
that the sale of Ruiz's rights is "part of multiple moves" the team is "about to make".
Why every football fan should read Paul Lake's brilliant new biog
I read Paul Lake's autobiography, I'm Not Really Here, from cover to cover yesterday. I
started it and couldn't put it down. It's the best book I've read for a long time. It's not easy
reading. In fact, some of the passages in it made me cry.
Sentimments on a sensational, dramatic final, on the ascending quality of women's soccer and on
one particular word that really needs to be retired from the sports writing lexicon:
1. What a superb final. As we all know, caution rules and expectations rise in championship
deciders and the matches rarely deliver what we would call, on and around July 4 fireworks period,
the "big finish.

We at In The Stands could not resist a chuckle at what is perhaps the most
outrageous piece of football commentary ever from legendary Italian commentator Carlo
Zampa.
Zampa's moment of madness occurred after AS Roma fullback John Arne Riise scored Roma's winner
against Juventus during the rivals' clash at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino in 2010.
Despite European leagues winding down and no MLS games until the weekend, there's still an
ecclectic array of soccer on Wednesday.
Between the UEFA Europa League final, Copa Libertadores quarterfinals, a U.S. women's national
team pre-World Cup friendly and Canadian championship, there's plenty of entertaining soccer to go
around.

We're glad to see that some people in high places have been reading our work. We can be certain
of this as our recent complaints about the proliferation of complex fixture schedules in England
over the last few weeks has resulted in the maddest list of games yet.
Four points, two teams, ninety minutes, and one difference. Against Udinese, Roma showed a
grinta that allowed them to snatch three points at the death, just when it started to appear that
they could lose them all. Palermo, on the other hand, took a two goal lead and threw it away in
stoppages against lowly Cesena.
This past weekend the Vancouver Whitecaps mounted one of the most remarkable comebacks in MLS
history with two goals in stoppage time to get a 3-3 draw against Sporting Kansas City.
Last night it was Vancouver who were left cursing a late goal as the New England Revolution
escaped from Vancouver with a 1-1 draw.
