Two years ago, a knee injury derailed Bobby Convey's English Premier League career. Even last
season, Convey struggled to find fitness and form in his return to Major League Soccer, leaving
many to think that his best days were behind him.

Controversy is a guarantee in the announcement of MLS's annual awards. Fans have always felt,
and will probably always feel, that certain players were robbed of titles while others were given
awards they didn't deserve. Welcome to fandom. Yet, while most of this is just supporters being
angry that a player from a team other than their own won whatever award is in question, recent
calls of foul from Red Bulls supporters have gotten more and more true as each victor has been
announced.
San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Bobby Convey was named Major League Soccer's Comeback Player of the
Year for 2010 on Wednesday. Convey has been a crucial part of the Earthquakes this season, starting
28 games and scoring one goal with five game-winning assists. MLS Comeback Player of the Year
Winners 2010: Bobby Convey – San Jose Earthquakes 2009: Zach Thornton – Chivas USA 2008: Kenny
Cooper – FC Dallas 2007: Eddie Johnson – Kansas City Wizards.
As if it wasn't torment enough to endure year after year of disappointment, MLS is just kicking
a guy when he's down with the latest award announcements. Of course, I am biased in my opinion,
but some of these were no-brainers and grave injustices not just to the Red Bulls, but also to the
league.
Editor's note: PSP is running season reviews for each Philadelphia Union player one per
weekday for the next few weeks. You can read all the reviews here.
Philadelphia Union midfielder Shea Salinas had a season that was just a tad bit up and down. At
its highs, he looked like he could be one of Major League Soccer's best players.
Los Angeles Galaxy star Landon Donovan wins his 2nd consecutive MLS MVP award despite receiving
zero votes. Finalists for the award were listed as Edson Buddle, David Ferreira, and Chris
Wondolowski, yet Don Garber surprised Major League Soccer by announcing Donovan as the 2010 winner.
This latest accolade tops last week's addition of Donovan to the MLS Best XI, where the National
team striker was awarded a spot as a midfielder, despite categorized as a forward at balloting.
