All the smart patooties around SB Nation's soccer family have started a Major League Soccer

It's official. Despite being fifth on the goal list with 14, fourth on the assist list with 11,
fifth on the shots list with 90, first on the shots on goal list with 48, 20th on the game-winning
goals list with three, and fifth on the game-winning assists list with four, Sebastien Le Toux is
not one of the three MVP finalists.
What a fantastic 2-0 victory against the Earthquakes! Dane Richards had a Man-Of-The-Match
performance, shredding the San Jose defense time and time again, scoring a wonder goal and getting
the assist on the second goal. And that second goal was scored by none other than Thierry Henry.
Yes, TH14 finally broke out of his MLS scoring drought and tallied his first goal of the season.

The Los Angeles Galaxy are just one win away.
A victory over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday and the Galaxy will clinch the Supporters Shield
and the top spot in the MLS playoffs. The Galaxy have won the Shield twice in its history, but not
since 2002, a year that also saw the Galaxy win MLS Cup.
After a weekend of playoff action we feel the time has come to comment on the finalists for
MLS's annual awards, released last Wednesday. Here we have nominees, predictions, and comments.

Two years ago, a knee injury derailed Bobby Convey's English Premier League career. Even last
season, Convey struggled to find fitness and form in his return to Major League Soccer, leaving
many to think that his best days were behind him.
U.S. Soccer has opened the voting for its Best of 2010 US Soccer awards. Among the categories is
best soccer blog. You can vote for the Philly Soccer Page here. (Registration is not required to
nominate PSP.) Voting ends Friday, November 19. Sebastien Le Toux, Danny Mwanga and Shea Salinas
are all up for MLS Goal of the Year.
Controversy is a guarantee in the announcement of MLS's annual awards. Fans have always felt,
and will probably always feel, that certain players were robbed of titles while others were given
awards they didn't deserve. Welcome to fandom. Yet, while most of this is just supporters being
angry that a player from a team other than their own won whatever award is in question, recent
calls of foul from Red Bulls supporters have gotten more and more true as each victor has been
announced.

Best 2010 Aztex Comeback Player: Jamie Watson - Watson's become a big fan favorite, and his
penetrating pace on the left flank is one of the big reasons for the team's surprising success this
season.
Best 2010 Aztex Newcomer: Maxwell Griffin - the Aztex's youngest starter burst out of UCLA to
become the league's third-leading scorer at press time (and second on the team, after last year's
player of the year Eddie Johnson).

I've always had a slight issue with one post season award that Major League Soccer hands out.
The Comeback Player of the Year.
In some years the CPY is truly someone that had a great year after coming back from a big

The club made the announcement today that the 34-year-old midfielder who has found it difficult
to break into the team this season will hang up his cleats at the end of the season, joining fellow
veteran midfielder Eddie Lewis who made a similar announcement earlier this season.
Another great episode of this great RBNY-themed podcast. This week, Mark and Dave (no Nat again
this week) discuss the lifeless display @PPL Park, preview today's game against the New England
Revolution and have a lively discussion on the 4-5-1 vs the 4-4-2. Their guest this week is Red
Bulls right back, and Comeback Player Of The Year candidate, Chris Albright.

For the third straight year, the final Rocky Mountain Cup match will have a direct affect on the
outcome on the playoff race.
But this year rather than playoff spots being at stake, it will be the Supporters Shield on the
line for Real Salt Lake.
As the regular season came to a close on Sunday, the Crew hosted their 2010 Post Season Awards
on Monday the 25th at the Lifestyle Community Pavilion. Once again the set up was a Casino style
event where players and fans could gamble for tickets. The tickets were a lottery for items to be
won such as a 2010 signed Crew jersey or a Xbox 360 with Fifa 11 game to name a few.
San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Bobby Convey was named Major League Soccer's Comeback Player of the
Year for 2010 on Wednesday. Convey has been a crucial part of the Earthquakes this season, starting
28 games and scoring one goal with five game-winning assists. MLS Comeback Player of the Year
Winners 2010: Bobby Convey – San Jose Earthquakes 2009: Zach Thornton – Chivas USA 2008: Kenny
Cooper – FC Dallas 2007: Eddie Johnson – Kansas City Wizards.
As if it wasn't torment enough to endure year after year of disappointment, MLS is just kicking
a guy when he's down with the latest award announcements. Of course, I am biased in my opinion,
but some of these were no-brainers and grave injustices not just to the Red Bulls, but also to the
league.
Editor's note: PSP is running season reviews for each Philadelphia Union player one per
weekday for the next few weeks. You can read all the reviews here.
Philadelphia Union midfielder Shea Salinas had a season that was just a tad bit up and down. At
its highs, he looked like he could be one of Major League Soccer's best players.
Los Angeles Galaxy star Landon Donovan wins his 2nd consecutive MLS MVP award despite receiving
zero votes. Finalists for the award were listed as Edson Buddle, David Ferreira, and Chris
Wondolowski, yet Don Garber surprised Major League Soccer by announcing Donovan as the 2010 winner.
This latest accolade tops last week's addition of Donovan to the MLS Best XI, where the National
team striker was awarded a spot as a midfielder, despite categorized as a forward at balloting.
