MLS Daily (http://www.mls-daily.com/) keeps a running tab of MLS attendance figures, and through
this past weekend's games MLS attendance is up 7.03% over this time last season. Considering the
economy and the attendance issues that MLB
(http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2010/8/24/1647739/mlb-attendance-drops-cubs-vs) is having, Don
Garber must be ecstatic with the numbers.
Mere weeks ago, Macoumba Kandji was the talk of the post World Cup MLS rumor
mill. Names like Manchester City, Bolton and Tottenham were pictured to be licking their chops,
waiting at the gates of Red Bull Arena to pick up the wonderkind from Red Bull Arena and swoop him
away to glory.
We are really heading into the playoff push here after week 25. There were plenty of games that
had playoff implications this past week and none of them seemed to disappoint. We had some changes
in the rankings as some teams moved up and a few others moved down.
The biggest fall continues to be the Columbus Crew who lost a bad 4-0 game at home to Seattle
this past week.
This past week Enos "Stan" Kroenke's purchase of a majority stake in the St. Louis Rams was
approved by the National Football League. NFL rules prohibit an owner from having a majority
stake in a football team in one city and a team from another sport in another city, so Kroenke was
forced to transfer operating control whilst winking of the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado
Avalanche to his son, Nepos.

Union/MLS
The Philadelphia Daily News' Kerith Gabriel questions Philadelphia Union's youth movement, and
it's pretty clear he falls into the "win now" camp. Yeah, you and a lot of others, but not me. Come
see me in 2011 or 2012 when Union Jack's the most exciting player in the league, and then we'll
talk about that 20-20 hindsight thing.

Its a new week in Major League Soccer, the first in the month of September. The playoff stretch
run is hotter now than its ever been with plenty still up for grabs this weekend. Its possible we
could even see a new team atop the overall standings when its all said and done on Sunday.

With the European club calendar on hold for European Championship qualifying, the schedule of
matches on TV this weekend is dominated by Major League Soccer.
MLS picked a good week to have some very intriguing match-ups. The Los Angeles Galaxy takes on
the Chicago Fire in a battle of teams struggling for points, though the Galaxy have a few more in
the bank.
Once a power in Asia, the India national soccer team is currently preparing for the 2011 Asian Cup
under former China, Bristol City and Colorado Rapids manager Bob Houghton. Earlier today, the All
India Football Federation (AIFF) officially unveiled the India Nike 2010/11 home (blue) and away
(red) kits that the Bhangra Boys will wear for [.
New York found a little too much space in the first half and did just enough in the second to
cut down the Colorado Rapids 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Patterson, New Jersey.
The Red Bulls dominated all but about 10 minutes of the first half in building a 2-0 lead. Both
goals were impressive as the team with three Designated Players Juan Pablo Angel, Thierry Henry and
Rafa Marquez looked like a squad that was coming together as the playoffs approach.

Slowly but surely the pieces are falling into place for the Red Bulls, just in time for the home
stretch - and what now seems certain to be a playoffs appearance. Thanks to two glorious team goals
by Thierry Henry and Tim Ream (his first as a professional), as well as an opportunistic third by
the revitalized Dane Richards midway through the second half, the Red Bulls coasted to what was
probably their most comfortable league home win of the season.
Colorado's starters will have to wait until Thursday to find out what the team will look like
after Tuesday's trade of midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy for forward Macoumba Kandji.
The starters are scheduled to take the day off from practice on Wednesday, which gives the team
a couple of days to figure out where Kandji fits and who will be called on to create from the
midfield in front of Saturday's 7 p.
*The Galaxy's next opponents, D.C. United, have traded veteran defender Carey Talley to the New
York Red Bulls, which play the Galaxy the Friday after next in Carson.
Talley, 34, only rejoined United, where he started his career, at the outset of the season after
two seasons with Chivas USA.
Miss some of the action in week 25? Well we've got you covered this morning to start the new

From recanted penalties to ejections for shaking hands, this weekend's slate of matches left
us with a lot of questions about the reasoning behind referees' decisions. Alas, a clear
explanation is almost never released to the public, leaving many of us to wonder how in the world
some of these officials became licensed.
We're nearly done with this 2010 season. Hard to believe it huh? Only a few more weeks left in
this year and already we can pretty much see that the playoffs will be the eight teams that are
currently in the running for it. Sure a couple others out of contention right now could make a run
for it in the final month of the year but the way things have gone lately I wouldn't count on
it.

The Colorado Rapids play five games this month. In the 15-year history of the club, September
has been a rollercoaster.
The team has played five times during the month on five occasions. The best was a 4-1-0 record
in September 1998. The worst was a 1-4-0 stretch the year before. The worst September came when the
club lost both games that month in 2001.

The struggling Los Angeles Galaxy will be in Chicago this weekend to take on a desperate Fire
team in a battle of squads that need a win badly.
The Galaxy could wind up falling out of first place in the West with a loss on Saturday, while
the Fire could see its playoff hopes fade with yet another setback.

Omar Cummings got knocked to the turf repeatedly in the first half without a whistle blowing. In
the second half, the whistle was blowing to signal another goal.
Cummings scored twice and had a foot in the other tally as the Colorado Rapids blew out
visiting Chivas USA 3-0 Saturday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City,
Colorado.

Chivas USA have completely given up. Apparently, they have.

It's Labor Day and I'll be honest I don't feel like doing much here today except for some
highlights to recap the week in Major League Soccer.

Congratulations to Omar Cummings for being the MLS Player of the Week!

Let's go ahead and consider this the weekend recap too while we're at it. I took yesterday off
to enjoy the holiday with family and it was also my one year anniversary with my wife. Needless
to say I couldn't spend time on line posting things. Sometimes things are just a bit more
important, and honestly I'm glad I took most of yesterday off.
Game Summary:
Stephenson 6′ Goal
Hernandez 41′ Yellow Card
Glen 45+1′ Yellow Card
Davis 45+2′ Goal
Robinson 66′ Yellow Card
Geovanni 64′ Goal
Cronin 84′ Red Card

Forgive me for a moment that these previews today are going to be super short. I honestly don't
have the time today to put a lot into this due to some family matters going on right now. Needless
to say this will be an interesting weekend for me outside of soccer.

Good Morning! The Red Bulls are back in action today, @The Cathedral of Football, against the very
hot Colorado Rapids. The very confident Rapids are have won their last two games 3-0 and are
looking to get a grasp on a playoff spot. The Red Bulls will be looking to bounce right back from
that lackluster perfomance @Rio Tinto last weekend and will have the four players that were
missing, due to International commitments, back in the fold.
