As is usually the case on the day of the MLS SuperDraft, several draft-day deals went down around the league on Thursday, with three former members of the United States Men's National Team sent packing to new destinations.First, the New England Revolution have sent the rights to defender Chris Albright to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for the 31st- and 48th-overall selections in today's SuperDraft.

One thing we learned from last year's SuperDraft is that you can find quality talent in the draft still. This year's draft should be no different from last years in terms of talent that we will see produce this coming season in Major League Soccer.

All the 16 clubs have different needs going into Thursday's draft as well.

New year which means we do need to update the Allocation order. For those who don't know it resets every year unlike in the old days when it didn't. Now its a worst to first kind of order with expansion clubs getting first crack when they join.

Right after the deal between Philadelphia and New York it seemed like a few people immediately were emailing about the new order. The deal between the Red Bulls and Union was simple, they swapped spots, NY went down to six and Philly went to number one.

Soccer America's Ridge Mahoney has chosen Colorado Rapids midfielder Pablo Mastroeni for his all-decade U.S. men's national team.

Mahoney notes the turnover in the team from 2000 to 2010, and he had this to say about the Rapids' captain, who earned 65 caps in the decade:

The Colorado Rapids have set a 2 p.m. kickoff time for their 2010 home opener at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, April 3, against the Chicago Fire.

The Rapids will open their 15th Major League Soccer season on March 28 on the road against Chivas USA.

The Rapids' complete 2010 schedule and kickoff times will be released at a later date.

For those of you who don't know, today was the MLS Super Draft. In American sports, they use drafts to allocate new players. It is done in baseball, football, hockey, etc. Drafts also take place in Canada, Australia, Russia, and the Phillipines. In a draft, teams take turns selecting from a pool of eligible players.

The Colorado Rapids have drafted forward Andre Akpan of Harvard University with the 22nd overall pick of Thursday's Major League Soccer draft. Akpan was taken in the second round with Colorado's first pick of draft, and he was the first Ivy League player taken in the draft.

As a senior, the Grand Prairie, Texas, native registered 12 goals and 30 points in 19 games (all 19 were starts) for the Crimson.

Former Colorado Rapids coach Fernando Clavijo is looking for Frantz Mathieu, who was his assistant coach when he guided Haiti in World Cup qualifying in 2003. Mathieu has been missing since a 7.0 earthquake devastated Haiti on January 12.

The biggest trade of the MLS offseason was finalized on Thursday, with Colorado and New England completing a deal that had been rumored for some time.

The Colorado Rapids and New England Revolution have completed a deal that will send defender Cory Gibbs and goalkeeper Preston Burpo to the Revolution in exchange for Wells Thompson and the rights to Jeff Larentowicz will go to the Rapids, the Boston Herald reported on Thursday evening.
