As is usually the case on the day of the MLS SuperDraft, several draft-day deals went down around the league on Thursday, with three former members of the United States Men's National Team sent packing to new destinations.First, the New England Revolution have sent the rights to defender Chris Albright to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for the 31st- and 48th-overall selections in today's SuperDraft.

Miami FC staff is working diligently and against the clock to give the fans a competitive team and while we all hope among the players signed will be a superstar that will make us keep coming back to games, we realize there is also some need for continuity. Here is a list of Players from last year that I think Miami FC needs to keep as the base for this coming year.

What are your opinions of the new MLS soccer shirts for the 2010 season?

One thing we learned from last year's SuperDraft is that you can find quality talent in the draft still. This year's draft should be no different from last years in terms of talent that we will see produce this coming season in Major League Soccer.

All the 16 clubs have different needs going into Thursday's draft as well.

New year which means we do need to update the Allocation order. For those who don't know it resets every year unlike in the old days when it didn't. Now its a worst to first kind of order with expansion clubs getting first crack when they join.

Below is what I've been able to gather as the current MLS Allocation Order for 2010.

Daniel Gonzalez is a Major League Soccer assistant coach again.

And you can be sure, he appreciates the opportunity.

Right after the deal between Philadelphia and New York it seemed like a few people immediately were emailing about the new order. The deal between the Red Bulls and Union was simple, they swapped spots, NY went down to six and Philly went to number one.

After the Union made their deal to pick up Orozco the new order now looks like this with a new leader in the clubhouse.

Conor Casey, who is about to join the US training camp for its upcoming friendly against Honduras, has reportedly been offered an improved contract from the Colorado Rapids, according to the blog, No Short Corners. The post states that the striker received an offer from a Turkish club and also has interest from a number of clubs in Germany where he already has some playing experience.

Kansas City Wizards midfielder/forward Herculez Gomez has revealed that he will not be returning to Major League Soccer next season. Instead, he will become the next American-born player to ply his trade abroad after signing a contract to play for Puebla FC of the Mexican first division.
"I couldn't be happier," Gomez told MLS Daily of his move to Puebla.

Folks, I have a question from a reader. Denise Grady, a loyal fan of the Colorado Rapids and the University of Colorado soccer team, wants to know if there are any public viewing venues for games of the African Cup of Nations.

The 2010 MLS SuperDraft is finally over. The dust has settled on another year's draft and just as always there were some big winners and then there were some losers. I wanted to post this piece last night but I felt that I really needed to take a bit of time away from the draft to really give it an honest look.

Goff had an update on the rumored Gibbs/Burpo - Thompson/Larentowicz trade with the Revs:

New England Revolution was preparing to trade midfielders Jeff Larentowicz and Wells Thompson to the Colorado Rapids for goalkeeper Preston Burpo and defender Cory Gibbs.

The Colorado Rapids have sent midfielder Jacob Peterson to Toronto FC in exchange for allocation money.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Peterson,drafted by Colorado with the ninth pick in the second round of the 2006 MLS draft, recorded eight goals and five assists in 92 games for the Rapids.

New Chicago Fire coach and former El Salvador boss Carlos de los Cobos has added one of his former international players to his new stable of talent.

The Fire signed El Salvador-international Julio Martinez on loan from Club Leon FC of Mexico's second division Thursday, bringing a skilled, technically-sound player into a midfield that is in need of just that.

The Colorado Rapids acquired the rights to midfielder Jeff Larentowicz and midfielder Wells Thompson in a trade with the New England Revolution, the club announced today.

Soccer America's Ridge Mahoney has chosen Colorado Rapids midfielder Pablo Mastroeni for his all-decade U.S. men's national team.

Mahoney notes the turnover in the team from 2000 to 2010, and he had this to say about the Rapids' captain, who earned 65 caps in the decade:

The Colorado Rapids have set a 2 p.m. kickoff time for their 2010 home opener at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, April 3, against the Chicago Fire.

The Rapids will open their 15th Major League Soccer season on March 28 on the road against Chivas USA.

The Rapids' complete 2010 schedule and kickoff times will be released at a later date.

We haven't heard a peep from Miami FC concerning player signings while we have heard other teams have been busy snatching everything they can. It's troubling because most of the good players are being signed and the Blues will be stuck with the leftovers and we've been through that before...

For those of you who don't know, today was the MLS Super Draft. In American sports, they use drafts to allocate new players. It is done in baseball, football, hockey, etc. Drafts also take place in Canada, Australia, Russia, and the Phillipines. In a draft, teams take turns selecting from a pool of eligible players.

The Colorado Rapids have drafted forward Andre Akpan of Harvard University with the 22nd overall pick of Thursday's Major League Soccer draft. Akpan was taken in the second round with Colorado's first pick of draft, and he was the first Ivy League player taken in the draft.

As a senior, the Grand Prairie, Texas, native registered 12 goals and 30 points in 19 games (all 19 were starts) for the Crimson.

The MLS SuperDraft is getting into its latter stages in Philadelphia and the Galaxy and Chivas USA are done.

Former Rapids striker and current Houston Dynamo assistant coach John Spencer reportedly is a candidate for the Portland Timbers' head coaching position.

OregonLive.com reports that Spencer met with owner Merritt Paulson and others on the Timbers' staff within the past few days in Portland.

The Colorado Rapids now have at least four new players after the Superdraft last week. That number will surely be boosted by triallists and other hopefuls that Gary Smith and the coaching staff will be bringing in as preseason approaches. Up to 35 players are expected back at DSG Park for the start of preseason training.

The SuperDraft is over and now clubs all around Major League Soccer are making moves to improve their rosters. Several are hoping to beef up certain areas while others hoping to get the right pieces in place to make another deep run in the playoffs this year.

Former Colorado Rapids coach Fernando Clavijo is looking for Frantz Mathieu, who was his assistant coach when he guided Haiti in World Cup qualifying in 2003. Mathieu has been missing since a 7.0 earthquake devastated Haiti on January 12.

He is a former Chicago Sting and Montreal Manic defender and was MVP of the 1981 Soccer Bowl, the championship game of the North American Soccer League.

One thing we've heard all winter long out of Denver is that Gary Smith would be re-doing a good portion of his roster. Currently we are waiting on one trade to finalize between the Rapids and New England Revolution but for now we can discuss one trade that is final.

The biggest trade of the MLS offseason was finalized on Thursday, with Colorado and New England completing a deal that had been rumored for some time.

The Colorado Rapids and New England Revolution have completed a deal that will send defender Cory Gibbs and goalkeeper Preston Burpo to the Revolution in exchange for Wells Thompson and the rights to Jeff Larentowicz will go to the Rapids, the Boston Herald reported on Thursday evening.
