Colorado College is mourning the Sept. 19 death of Chris Quon, a member of the men's soccer and
men's lacrosse teams. Quon graduated in May with a degree in economics.
"Chris's passing has devastated the Colorado College athletics community," said Horst
Richardson, coach of the men's soccer team.

on a free kick from 28 yards out to give the Pioneers a victory over No. 13 Kansas in the Colorado

Metro State 1, Colorado State-Pueblo 0: What a big difference from Friday. After pummeling
the Colorado School of Mines at home two days earlier, the Roadrunners managed only a 1-0 victory
over Colorado State-Pueblo 1-0 on the road Sunday.
As the Colorado Rapids prepare to face FC Dallas in a Major League Soccer fixture for the second
time in less than three weeks, The Tuesday List looks at the Dallas Burn's draft class of 1996.
The team had one pick in each of 16 rounds of the inaugural MLS draft. The players selected have
some interesting coaching accomplishments, quite a bit of international experience and some
Colorado ties.
The No. 13 Metropolitan State College women's soccer team, led by Becca Mays' three goals,
cruised to a 5-1 victory over Colorado-Colorado Springs on Friday evening in Colorado Springs. The
Roadrunners improved to 8-1-0 overall and 5-0-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while
UCCS dropped to 2-4-0, 1-4-0 in conference.
Jeff Nelson of the Colorado School of Mines' men's soccer team was named Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference offensive player of the week.
Nelson, a senior forward from Laramie, scored four goals and tallied two assists to help Mines
to a pair of victories last weekend. In Mines' 4-3 win at CSU-Pueblo on Friday, Nelson scored a
pair of goals, including the winner, and added an assist.
Kayla Mitchell scored four goals, including her conference-leading 26th of the season, as the
Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team posted its 12th shutout, a 4-0 victory against
CSU-Pueblo on Friday in Golden.
The Orediggers have shut out seven of their past eight opponents.
Mitchell gave Mines a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, when Liz Oba chipped a ball over the
CSU-Pueblo defense.
This week, there are two women's teams from Colorado in the Division 1 Top 25, as voted on by
the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. And Colorado College received some votes. Here

Santa Clara 1, Colorado 0 OT: At Palo Alto, Calif., the Buffaloes dropped their
second contest in the Stanford?Nike Invitational. Linder would be tested two more times in a
one-minute span, coming up with the saves on both attempts, however with less than two minutes to
play in the first overtime period, Santa Clara would seal the deal and finally sneak past Linder
for the win.
The University of Denver men's soccer team was ranked No. 25 in the nation in the
TopDrawerSoccer.com preseason ranking.
The Web site ranks the top 48 teams in NCAA Division I men's soccer. Akron, St. John's,
Creighton, California and Maryland made up the top five.

Colorado College 4, New Hampshire 0: The Tigers cashed in on a pair of corner
kicks early in the match and never looked back. Sophomore defender Beth Wright scored a goal and
assisted on another in the opening 13 minutes of play at Stewart Field in Colorado Springs.

TIGER TOURNAMENT: The Colorado College women's soccer team hosts the University
of Denver, Kansas and Texas Christian on Friday and Sunday. CC faces TCU at 4 p.m. Friday and
Kansas at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Pioneers meet the Jayhawks at 1:30 Friday and Texas Christian at
noon Sunday.
Nick Thomas of WeWantRapidman and yours truly were guests on a podcast by Robert Jonas of Center
Line Soccer as the Bay Area Web site previewed the two upcoming games between the San Jose
Earthquakes and the Colorado Rapids.

Lizzy Hildebrandt scored in the 15th minute Friday as Memphis blanked the Colorado College

Memphis advances to Sunday's title match against regular-season champion Central Florida, which
claimed a 1-0 triumph over Alabama-Birmingham in Friday's other semifinal.
Euan Purcell's treble and Byron Cephers' brace led the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team as
it recorded an 11-0 victory against Colorado Christian University on Sunday in Lakewood.
Fort Lewis, ranked No. 6 in the nation, recorded 49 shots in the victory to improve to 13-1
overall, 10-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
