Arsenal fans can relax about bringing in more attacking players apparently. Lukas Podolski has told
reporters that Arsenal have got three players for the price of one by bringing him to the Emirates.
If this proves true, then the price tag of around £11 million could be the bargain of the season.

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker admits that the pace and physicality of English football is
pressurizing for players from other parts of the world but argues that the media is not nearly as
intrusive as portrayed at times.
The English press is often criticized for exaggerating issues or taking statements out of
context but Mertesacker, who arrived from Werder Bremen last year, does not consider this to be an
issue, particularly considering the more intrusive role of the media in his native Germany.
Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker is confident that the arrival of compatriot Lukas Podolski over
the summer will go a long way in changing the team's reputation as one that cracks easily under
pressure.
The Gunners' fragile reputation is largely attributable to seven straight years without a trophy
with a relatively inexperienced squad that has lost influential stars such as Thierry Henry, Cesc
Fabregas, and Samir Nasri over the course of the dry spell.
Relegation is something like a breakup: most fans don't take it well, but the ones who knew they
were punching above their weight anyway walk away with solemn graciousness and heaps of gratitude.
Fans of Koln fall into the former.
In the midst of a spiral to the depths of the Bundesliga.

Weird scenes inside the goldmine RheinEnergieStadion, where the Cologne fans didn't take their
relegation down to the 2.Bundesliga yesterday afternoon particularly gracefully throwing smoke
bombs, lighting fires and charging the pitch after their side's 1-4 defeat to Bayern Munich.
Cologne's final match of the season started with a nice send-off for Arsenal new boy Lu-Lu-Lu
Lukas Podolski. Then they lost 4-1 to Bayern Munich, sealing their relegation and everything turned
black.
After Thomas Muller scored Bayern's fourth in the 85th minute, Cologne fans started setting off
black smoke bombs that prompted the referee to end the match a little early so the players could
run for cover.

Yesterday Arsene Wenger made it quite clear we were a team that was far too reliant on the goals
of Robin van Persie.
Yesterday Arsene Wenger said there was nothing we could do about it until the end of the season
and he urged the captain to drag us over the line into third place.
Yesterday, he did something about it, for next season at least, by finalising the signing of
Lukas Podolski from Cologne.
It seems that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is moving quickly in the transfer market to get his summer
targets. Jan Vertonghen next on Wenger's list? Arsenal tied up German and Cologne striker Lukas
Podolski yesterday, and manager Arsene Wenger now wants to move for his top defensive target Jan
Vertonghen.

That's what Gooners will be chanting come August 2012. Arsenal yesterday announced the signing
of Lukas Podolski from Cologne. Let's be honest, we knew this was coming for weeks but it is still
good to hear about it officially. One of the reasons muted online for the delayed announcement was
that Cologne didn't want the news to affect their relegation scrap.

As rumoured a little while back, it has now been revealed that Arsenal have agreed a deal to
sign German striker Lukas Podolski.
Podolski, of Cologne, was to become a free-agent at the end of the season so his club have
decided to cash in on the player now instead of risking losing him for nothing in a few weeks
time.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has spoken of his delight after completing the protracted capture
of Germany striker Lukas Podolski from Cologne.
Podolski will join the Gunners in the summer after agreeing personal terms and passing a
medical. No word yet on the transfer fee.
Wenger said: "We are delighted to secure the deal for Lukas and see him as an important part of
our future.

Schalke secured third place, Leverkusen moved up to fifth place, the bottom three were set, and
much more in the German Bundesliga on Saturday, April 28, 2012.
Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Hannover 96
A 74th minute Stefan Kiebling goal was the difference as Leverkusen moved up to 5th place in the
league table.
Bayer Leverkusen defender Michal Kadlec earned a broken nose and a trip to hospital last weekend
following a fight with two rowdy FC Koln fans in a Cologne nightclub.
In spite of his painful injury, the 27-year-old Czech is keen to play in this weekend's match
with Hannover, and this will probably be possible after getting fitted for a natty new mask.
Dortmund's title win was finally made official. And while the pundits discuss, whether we are
looking at a dynasty in the making, elsewhere clubs compete for the right or burden to play two
extra matches.
Dortmund are deserved winners.

Having scored seven goals in each of their previous two matches, Bayern Munich continued their
goal binge by beating Hertha Berlin 6-0 on Saturday. Bayern made such easy work of their hosts,
that they resorted to playing rock-paper-scissors to decide who would take free kicks just to keep
themselves entertained.
Markus Babbel is a welcome guest in Munich. Markus Babbel is a young promising
Bundesliga coach, who has done reasonably well at his clubs so far. That is, as long as he doesn't
have to pay a visit to his former club. His Hertha side conceded three goals in 13 minutes earlier
this season.
Lu-Lu-Lu Lukas Podolski was sent off for the first time in his Bundesliga career during
Cologne's 1-0 win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday. The reason for his red card was questionable at
best, though. When Hertha's Levan Kobiashvili grabbed him by the back of the neck, Podolski put his
head down and pushed Kobiashvili off of him.
