Remember Brian Shriver? FC Dallas took him in the second round of the 2009 MLS Super Draft but he opted to return to Chapel Hill to finish school and attempted to make the club at a later date. Shriver has since carved out a nice niche for himself in the USL First Division and now the NASL. And speaking of the NASL, this ex-Tar Heel currently leads that circuit with five goals.
Since he played at SMU between 2002 and 2004, current LA Galaxy midfielder Colin Clark is naturally a player that current FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman knows very well after having coached him on the Hilltop for three seasons.
Before he ended up with the two-time MLS Cup champion Galaxy via the 2012 MLS Re-Entry Draft, Clark, 28, played in Colorado and Houston.
Drew Moor played some 123 games for FC Dallas from when he was drafted in 2005 by Colin Clarke
to August 2009, when he was traded to Colorado in exchange for fellow Dallas-Fort Worth area
product and current FCD captain Ugo Ihemelu. Moor and his Colorado Rapids return to Frisco this
weekend and here's more from this affable Dallas native.
A player with the Puerto Rico National Team, with the PR Islanders of USSF D2 and formerly of
Hofstra joins trialists Lamar Neagle and Jonathan Prieto with the Seattle Sounders during their
Florida swing of winter training. Martinez is an either side fullback who has played in the PDL as
well. With Hofstra he had 2 goals and 6 assists playing primarily as a centerback prior to his
final season.
Pedro Gomes remains on the bench this show and Luke flies solo. Luke talks MLS, Canadian Championships and expansion to Miami. Colin Clarke, head coach of the Carolina RailHawks joins in to talk about the acquisition of Enzo Martinez (on-loan from RSL) and how he manages his players young and old. Off The Bench is coming at you.
First of all, Colin Clarke's name has been floated in some circles as a possible candidate, but he
just accepted the Carolina Railhawks job, so we can rule him out.
Today Jeff Plush did an interview with ColoradoRapids.com that lays out what they're looking for in
a coaching search, and a bit about what happened with Gary Smith.
The Tampa Bay Rowdies advanced to the NASL finals following their 3-3 second leg draw with the Carolina RailHawks Saturday night at Al Lang Stadium. With the Rowdies scoring a 2-1 win in Carolina last weekend, the Florida team advances on the basis of a 5-4 aggregate victory. Colin Clarke's RailHawks, who finished fourth in [.
The past two matches for the Carolina RailHawks have served as evidence that the team is still
rebuilding in the wake of Martin Rennie's departure at the end of last season. The team sits now in
5th place with a humble 5-6-5 record.
Rob Kinnan is a talented photographer from the Raleigh-Durham-Carry area of North Carolina and
for the last year has made his photos available to IMSoccer News to accompany game reports and
features. Last night, Kinnan was in attendance at WakeMed Soccer Park to record the debut of Eric
Wynalda as head coach of the Atlanta [.
The NASL Carolina RailHawks played host to the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer in the third round
of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on Tuesday night. The sold out event was a spectacle to be sure, if
only as a chance to showcase the remarkable facilities at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North
Carolina.

NASL, Colin Clarke.
The Puerto Rico Islanders announced on Thursday the hiring of 40-year-old Adrian Whitbread as their
coach for the 2012 season. Whitbread had formerly been Islanders head coach Colin Clarke's
assistant for the past 4 seasons. "We are excited to promote Adrian to be the head coach of the
Puerto Rico Islanders.
NASL clubs continue to be active during the off-season preparing for the 2012 season. Carolina
officially announced the signing of Colin Clarke to pilot the club in 2012, while Atlanta added a
veteran defender for next season and San Antonio are busy not only holding tryouts but marketing
the club.
Colin Clarke who has guided the Puerto Rico Islanders through 5 seasons will not be returning to
the team according to sources in Puerto Rico. Clarke has decided to take the vacant coaching job in
Cary, North Carolina to lead the RailHawks for the 2012 season. The announcement will be made by
the RailHawks early [.

In a match played at the Guyana National Stadium, Puerto Rico Islanders FC defeated Alpha United

In doing so, they secured a berth in this year's edition of the CONCACAF Champions League
tournament.
Welcome to week #7 of the IMSoccer News North American Soccer League Podcast.
Once again this week I'm joined by co-hosts Gerry Wittmann and Jay (YankiBoy) Long.
We again travel around the league getting first-hand game reports from correspondents who took
in NASL games.
NASL teams have been busy recently, not only with the NASL Player Combine in sunny Florida this
past weekend but in signing veteran players for the 2011 season. FC Tampa Bay announced the
signing of veteran defender Frankie Sanfilippo, while the Puerto Rico Islanders also reached out
for experienced backline leadership by adding former Aztex' captain Jay Needham.
Luiz Muzzi, GM of the Strikers and Fernando Clavijo hold up the Joma NASL jerseys that will be
worn at this weekends combine.
The North American Soccer League will hold its player combine this weekend at Ft. Lauderdale
Stadium. The combine, which begins Friday, will be headed by Strikers' head coach Daryl Shore and
Colin Clarke, coach of the 2010 USSF D2 playoff champion Puerto Rico Islanders.
The Swope Park Rangers got back to their reserve league season yesterday against the Houston Dynamo
down in Houston. Cam Weaver of the Dynamo scored both of the goals in the game. The first in the
17th minute on a header from a Colin Clarke cross. In the second half, goalkeeper Eric Kronberg
earned himself a red card as he took down Weaver in the box.
Before we take a look at MLS attendance from the weekend, a quick note on our "new" look. The
front page of Footiebusiness has been revamped to (hopefully) make things easier to navigate.Â
After more than three years with the same front page, it was time to make a few changes.Â
Hopefully it will be easier to access the Footiebusiness Twitter feed and soccer links while still
providing access to the site's content.
At practice yesterday, you know when the weather was decent enough to do that sort of thing,
Sigi Schmid again talked about the possibility of loaning Steve Zakuani, but noted that the
situation is a bit complex. Not only are there MLS Reserves games coming up (August 6th at Starfire
v the LA Galaxy is next), but this isn't just about some lower division club wanting to get a name
MLS player and a few extra hundred tickets sold.
The Chicago Fire isn't out of the playoff picture just yet.
Chicago kept itself in the mix for a playoff spot on Saturday night, earning a 1-1 draw with the
Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium. The result has Chicago on 37 points this season, three shy of
the last wild card spot currently held by the New York Red Bulls.
The Dynamo hit the road again in the second leg of their early season transcontinental adventure
to face the New York Red Bulls. It's Houston's annual sojourn to play the team with a big city name
that calls the land of Bruce Springsteen and "Waste Management" companies home.
Saturday's match will be all about the continued growth and development of this Dynamo team.
Chivas USA did their due diligence prior to their match with the Carolina RailHawks. Rather than
take the tier 2 team lightly, the MLS side sent a scout ahead of their match and reviewed film to
understand their opponent.
On this week's episode, Ted and Scott review Week 3 in MLS and touch on Colin Clarke's possible
fine or suspension. And at long last, Scott will finally give his predictions, maybe.
Correspondents include: Columbus, DC, New York, New England, Philadelphia, Chivas USA, San Jose,
and Salt Lake.
The rumors are flying (presumably on Air Canada) about whose name will come up when the Montreal
Impact name their first MLS coach on Wednesday.
The frontrunner, according to The Washington Post's Steven Goff, is former Chivas USA and Chicago
Fire star Jesse Marsch, who is reportedly a friend of Matt Jordan, the former MLS goalkeeper who is
now director of soccer operations for the Impact.
Last week, I picked 18-man all time rosters for each MLS team, with the stipulation of using each
player only once. Why not do the same for head coaches? This won't be nearly as long or tough.
Let's take a look.
Right off the bat, it's more simple because several teams have only one possible selection (which
means that I have no other choice but to use them).
Pedro Gomes and Luke Lohr host two very special guests to talk about the changing scope of North American soccer talent. Alexi Lalas (ESPN) offers his perspectives on why some players excel and some go bust after the SuperDraft. Head Coach of the Carolina RailHawks Colin Clarke also joins to talk about the importance of the ever-growing second division and why development of players is improving year over year.
Reaction to Conor Casey selection. West Chester United to host United German Hungarians in Eastern PA USOC qualification final. Name and logo of new women's pro league announced. More news.
