The Wales manager Chris Coleman has decided to shake up the Wales national team and he started by sacking the Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey as captain and replacing him with Swansea's Ashley Williams. Coleman revealed the contents of the chat he had with Ramsey about his decision.
The Arsenal and Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey had a terrible last six months last season, but he
seems to have recovered a bit of form at last with his performances for Team GB at the Olympics and
in his three substitutes appearances this time around. But he is likely to find his first team
chances [.
Giovanni Trapattoni has named his starting eleven for tomorrow night's friendly
international against Oman at Craven Cottage.
Kevin Doyle will captain Ireland for only the second time in his career in what is an experimental
side, with a number of fringe & new players being given the opportunity to impress the Irish
boss.
Seamus Coleman is one of a number of young Irish internationals focused on making the
Ireland squad for the Euro 2012 finals in Poland next summer, but all must convince Ireland boss
Giovanni Trapattoni to include them on the European adventure.
The Everton defender is one of a number of players fighting to make Trap's final 23 man squad for
the Group C games against Croatia, Spain and Italy.
Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has named his team for tomorrow night's Carling Cup
clash against Nigel Worthington's IFA side.
A number of players have already been ruled out including Anthony Stokes, Ciaran Clark and Caleb
Folan because of injury, while those involved in the Champions League final and the play-offs also
wont feature.
While millions of people the world over are buying things like Fifty Shades of Grey and Coldplay
albums just because other people are buying them, the same sort of momentum rarely attaches itself
to those of us at the humbler end of the spectrum. But The Fulham Review is just as
special in its own way, and contains some wonderful things by some fine writers, so please do have
a look if you're in any way tempted.
[UPDATE! Rich weighted the data according to playing time! See below]
[UPDATEÂ ii- just moved this up as I think it's worth a look and don't want it buried under
the Split stuff. Interesting that when we pro-rate age for playing time you've got an almost
absurdly consistent line upwards.
Piggybacking off Rich's post from the other day, I've been looking at the average age of our
squad over the years. Remember learning mean, median, and mode, along with standard deviation from
math class? Well, it's back Fulham style!
We all know that the side is in some (not dire) need of youth, and that our stalwarts aren't
just getting older, they're nearing the end of their careers I for one would not be surprised to
see Danny Murphy and Damien Duff hang up their boots after this season.
Dealt with the considerable aerial threat from Everton with consummate ease. Good distribution
and was tested very little by Everton.
Kelly 7.5
Strong in the tackle and showed plenty of pace going forward.Stuck to his task defensively
against Pienaar and Baines and also made a significant contribution at the other end with a
powerful shot which lead to Gerrard's opening goal
Carragher 7
The Reds Vice-captain may have lost some pace over the years but he's got a good footballing
brain on his shoulders and he used that against Everton.
Browsing through the Everton forums finds a lot of uneasy fans worried about thier injury hit side
up against us on Wednesday night. Jagielka, Cahill, Osman, Rodwell, Hibbert and Coleman are all
doubts, but Fellaini and Drenthe both came through their previous match unscathed and should
feature.
They point out that the key to them winning this fixture will be controlling our midfield, a task
that is made infinitely easier if Parker and Sandro are both out.
Thomas Vermaelen will play in the left back position
All four centre backs have been deployed against Everton. Thomas Vermaelen at left back, Per
Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny form the central pairing, and Johan Djourou at right.
For Arsenal the danger men are Tim Cahill who loves to lose himself in the thicket of tall
defenders rising from nowhere for his headers, Leighton Baines who will fancy himself against a
relatively static Djourou to bomb forward, and Louis Saha who still packs in an explosive
finish.
Ireland international Seamus Coleman believes his background in Gaelic football has put him
in good stead for life in the Premier League with Everton.
The 23-year-old tasted success with underage Donegal teams and well as his club side Killybegs
before opting to pursue a career in soccer when former Sligo Rovers manager Sean Connor saw enough
of the St Catherine's defender to offer him a contract in the League of Ireland.
The mist has cleared from derby day. Undoubtedly Jack Rodwells red card has been onÂ
everyone's lips.Everyone on the blue half of Merseyside is bemoaning the the sending off, but
common sense has prevailed over at Anfield this photo has done the rounds and tell me these
challenges aren't worse Foul Play.
David Moyes' Everton side produced a valuable 3-1 win against Wigan despite putting out a first
11 with no natural strikers.
Tim Cahill lead the line for the Toffees but it was debut goals from Apostolos Vellios and
Royston Drenthe (after a strike from Phil "Jags" Jagielka) which won the game for the home
side.
Everton utility man Seamus Coleman is once again being linked with a surprise move to bitter rivals
Liverpool by fanatix.co.uk.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish worked hard throughout the summer to strengthen his squad and it had
appeared as though there would not be anymore transfer activity at Anfiield this season.
Everton have confirmed that striker Jermaine Beckford has left the club in a £3 million deal.
The transfer sees Beckford drop down a division to the Championship as he joins Sven Goran
Eriksson's Leicester City side. Beckford failed to make the grade at Goodison Park, often
frustrating Toffees fans by missing countless goalscoring opportunities.
As a blue I always know we aren't going to launch audacious swoops for top level players.
Extravagent wages tempting foreign mercenaries to be joined by cherry-picked England
internationals...nope it's fair to say that Everton are not a "Money" club.
Instead Moyes' revolution, whilst no less seismic than the City/Chelsea uber-splurges, has been
all about players with a point to prove being given the perfect place to prove it.
Irish international Seamus Coleman scooped the Everton Young Player of the Season award at
the BT convention centre in Liverpool last night
Having broken into the first team last season, the Donegal born Irishman has made massive progress
since making his full Premier League debut at Fulham in September, making 39 appearances and
scoring six goals.
Here we go. 4 weeks left. Mini-Leagues up for grabs. Pride on the line for some. Entertainment on
the line for others. Premier League football for all. Let's preview the matches from a fantasy
perspective... I. Manchester United @ Arsenal: ... Continue reading →
Just as things starts to goes in the right direction for Everton with their position improvement
on the league table, injury issues keeps on coming for the Toffees as latest reports suggested that
they might be losing their main striker, Louis Saha, until the end of season.
Confirmed by the club's manager, David Moyes, Saha, who has just an operation recently will not
be available again for the team's remaining matches because the Frenchman's recovery time would
take a while.
Liverpool are reportedly interested in Everton youngster Seamus Coleman and will hope to take
advantage of their fellow Merseyside club's perilous financial position by making a significant
January offer for the Irish international.
Anfield director of football Damien Comolli has earmarked a move for the right sided performer and
boss Kenny Dalglish is also said to be a fan of the former Sligo Rovers man and could see the
Everton man as a player who could ably fill a role out wide at Liverpool.
In most of the season previews I have read about Everton, most of them have stressed the importance
of keeping their small squad fit and being lucky with injuries if they are to succeed.
So to have one of their brightest young prospects and key attacking threats, Seamus Coleman,
crocked before the season began, is an ominous sign for the Toffees.
Accrington 0-1 Stevenage (Beardsley 89)
BBC Report | Westley Reaction
Stevenage will face Torquay United in the League 2 playoff final at Old Trafford next Saturday.
A place in League 1 is up for grabs for the winners after they beat Accrington and Shrewsbury
respectively over two legs.
I'm not going to do a preview. There's no point. Everyone know's what the situation is, who's
fit, who's in form etc. According to Accrington's manager, the tie's already over, so what's the
point in previewing it.
Here's Coleman's quote to the local Lancashire paper which says it all really.
League 2 Playoffs: The prize of beating Accrington is the final at Old Trafford
Stevenage welcome Accrington Stanley to Broadhall Way tomorrow evening in the first leg
of the League 2 playoff semi final. I use the term welcome loosely. There's nothing I want more
than for us to smash Accrington into oblivion and force them into another season in League 2.

U.S. WNT forward Alex Morgan threw out the ceremonial first pitch last night before the Kansas City
Royals hosted the Chicago White Sox and a fun time was had by all. We'll have a video up on
ussoccer.com shortly. And special thanks to Rouals Eric Hosmer, Louis Coleman and Aaron Crow for
coming out to training and saying hi to the team (and giving Alex a few pointers).
When Rotherham United departed from Millmoor at the end of the 2007/08 season, the departure of
this football club from its home of one hundred and one years was, perhaps, not granted the
attention that it should have been. Rotherham, who had a wretched few seasons during the last
decade, had failed to reach agreement with their landlords over disputes that had been running for
several years, and left for pastures new at The Don Valley Stadium in nearby Sheffield.
Last week the nominees for the PFA Young Player of the Year were announced. That list includes
such names as Jack Wilshere, Seamus Coleman, Joe Hart, and Gareth Bale. This list sparked quite a
debate on the EPL Talk website as every fan has an...
