The United States moved up one place to 33rd in the January 2012 FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking.
Mexico stays 21st, remaining first overall in CONCACAF. Spain remains the World #1, with Holland,
Germany, Uruguay, and England rounding out the top five. Elsewhere in CONCACAF, Panama moves up to
47th and Honduras is 51st.
The U.S. Women's National Team has ended 2011 as the top-ranked team in the world according to the
year-end FIFA rankings.
The USA remained at #1, just ahead of Germany and third-place Japan, which has achieved its highest
ranking ever.
The Nadeshiko benefited from Brazil's inconsistent performances: two draws against Canada (7th, up
2), narrow wins over Mexico (21st, up 1) and Costa Rica (41st, up 3) and a defeat by Denmark (12th,
up 2) not only leave Brazil with a loss of 28 points and in 4th place, but see the Brazilians slip
out of the top-3 for the first time since June of 2008.
On Sunday, Salcido started and played 90 minutes in Tigres' 3-1 win over Santos in second leg of
the 2011 Primera División de México Apertura. Tigres won the title on a 4-1 aggregate, their
first Mexican championship since 1982.

Aston Villa have released and launched their new away kit for 2011/12, and it's almost
guaranteed to divide opinion right down the middle as a) checkerboard is always a tough one to pull
off well and, b) those Chinese characters look like the kind of tattoo people have done on their
gap years after being told it means 'spirit of love' or some such nonsense only to later discover
it actually means 'Coca Cola' or 'Prawn Dim Sum' etc, etc.

After Wayne Rooney's swore in his celebration against West Ham, the papers were full of stories
claiming that he had been dropped by Coke as a result.
Rooney has put the record straight today, claiming he rejected a new deal from Coke four months
ago.
"It makes me laugh," he said.
