Mmm ....... Roland Martin seems quite comfortable in his ascot. Too comfortable.
Roland Martin, CNN's most vocal homophobic bigot gets all frothy and excited over the David
Beckham undie ad that aired on Super Bowl. With friends like these, does Obama need any
enemies?
He probably thought seeing the ad would turn half of America's menfolk gay.
Ahead of another match between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford this weekend,
Alex Ferguson has made his position on the rash of race-related controversies in the game clear.
He's surprised by it all and demands firm action.
As Richard Whittall of The Footy Blog points out, the fact that these cases are getting
scrutinized and dealt with should be a sign that progress is being made, but Ferguson seems to want
more.
CNN's Piers Morgan (left) does a weird thing with his mouth after he
speaks. His lips pinch tight. As if the torpedo tube is being sealed until the next salvo. It can
be quite intimidating. It fits the style of a man who was previously employed as a tabloid editor
in the warfare of English newspapers.
Ron Clark has a fantastic article up at CNN highlighting the flight of teachers from the
profession, in part because of trouble dealing with parents. Reading it, I saw a lot of parallels
with coaching youth sports and dealing with soccer parents, which can have a huge impact on a team
and player development.
The brand new NBC Sports Network looks to benefit greatly from this year's NFL Playoffs.
This is NBC's turn in the rotation for the Super Bowl broadcast, so beginning with Saturday's games
on through to the end of the Super Bowl, there will be ample opportunity to remind viewers of
what's to come and what to expect from the new sports channel.

Grant Wahl, failed candidate for the FIFA presidency and writer at SI.com on all things football
has listed all 19 MLS franchises in order of perceived ambitions. Not surprisingly, LA is #1,
followed by Seattle and NY. Not surprisingly either, our beloved Revs are last.
Here is the commentary that follows the Revs entry:
No fan base sends me more complaints about its own team ownership
than New England's.
She started reporting on the Penn State scandal long before anyone else. Her journalism efforts
weren't otherworldly; they were just solid and unrelenting.
The story was going to break no matter what. But, she got to it first and didn't let go. She had
Sandusky covered from late March through April to the Fall.

Radio's Miriti Murungi. Murungi also hosts a rather, make that The Confidential podcast, here. In

Clean cut no more. MLS & Brek Shea, 2018?
This past weekend, a German referee attempted to commit suicide. CNN reported on this tragedy,
and also managed to sneak in the same article some game recaps. Tactful! The Guardian did
one better, reporting racism charges against Luis Suarez while also letting us know that the
alleged racist did not play in an international friendly due to injury.
What exactly did Luis Suarez say '10 times' to Patrice Evra during Liverpool's game with Man United
in October? Speculation has reached fever-pitch over the last few weeks, and Suarez has admitted
that he called Evra something 'his Manchester United team-mates call him', but the actual word in
question has not been publicly confirmed.

In a week when FIFA president Sepp Blatter was embroiled in yet another
scandal: this time about race, we report on four of the many controversies that FIFA's leader has
been involved in.
FOX is continuing its series of broadcast EPL matches this weekend with the Liverpool/Chelsea
game. The game will be broadcast on Fox Soccer re-broadcast on FOX either before or after NFL
football. According to the press release, "CNN talk show host Piers Morgan is slated to join the
studio team, providing commentary and analysis for the Chelsea vs.
There is no irony in the fact that Sepp Blatter's extremely ill-advised comments on racism "We
are in a game, and at the end of the game we shake hands, and this can happen, because we have
worked so hard against racism and discrimination" came on the same day that the Football
Association charged Luis Suarez with using "abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards
Manchester United's Patrice Evra" including "a reference to the ethnic origin and/or colour
and/or race of Patrice Evra.

In a grotesque display of gargantuan imbecility earlier today, FIFA's pernicious President Sepp
Blatter vomited out the sickening opinion that there is 'no racism in football'.
When asked by CNN World Sport if he thought there was racism on the pitch, the man who runs world
football (!
Sepp Blatter continues to raise the bar for his critics.
In an interview with CNN World Sport the FIFA president touched on the notion of racism in
soccer, saying that not only does racism as a whole not exist in the game, but that any potential
moments of racial abuse should be settled with a handshake.
It's worth noting that Sepp Blatter is now 75 and could very well be in the process of losing
what little capacity for thought he had in the first place. Which isn't really an excuse, but it at
least explains his devolution. And stance on the concept of racism in football. Which is sort of a
non-concept and if it does exist, can be solved "with a handshake".
By Alan Duffy
"La la la la la la la la..... I can't hear you... La la la la la la la .... Everything is
fine..... La la la la la la"
Why hasn't Sepp Blatter been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize yet? He surely is the new Gandhi?
Following on from his suggestion that female footballers should wear skimpy outfits to make the
game more popular, and that gay people visiting the World Cup finals in Qatar should simply refrain
from sexual activity while in the country, the champion of civil rights has now devised an answer
to the problem of racism in football, something that is once again in the spotlight.
CNN reports on the celebration of Alex Ferguson's 25 years at Manchester United.
The Scot is the most successful manager in British football, and his status as the
longest-serving one in United's history was cemented when the English Premier League champions
renamed the biggest stand at Old Trafford in his honor.
In football, or any other sport for that matter, there is always a brilliant underdog story that
fascinates supporters around the world.
Gillette has sponsored a contest that captures the touching stories of many such underdogs who
went the extra mile to achieve greatness that sets a strong example.
I want MLS to keep its balanced schedule after Montreal and the 20th team enter. If it does not
keep that balanced schedule it should be because of travel and not because playing 38 games is too
much. I understand there is US Open Cup and CONCACAF CCL for some clubs but that is why we have
larger rosters.

CNN explores the passion for the game in James Marcelin's home country of Haiti as Les

If you happened to catch this weeks CNN Hero, you would have seem that it was a soccer related

"Nemanja, wooah, Nemanja, wooah, he comes from Serbia, he'll fucking murder ya!" is the song
you'll hear loudly whenever Vidic goes in hard on a player. Vidic seems to play without fear and
will put his head, body (or arm) in the way of anything to protect the goal.
Speaking with CNN World Sport, Vidic has shrugged off talk of him being a hard man, claiming the
song helps his reputation, but is aware of how tough you have to be to succeed in this league.
Nemanja Vidic, who turns 30 this season, has claimed he's as hungry as ever to win trophies,
particularly the FA Cup which is missing from his collection. Speaking to CNN World Sport, our
captain has claimed that if he doesn't perform, there will be players ready to take his spot in the
team. Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans will all be waiting for their opportunity and are
all desperate to prove themselves, which should keep Vida on his toes.
Ruben Navarette, Jr., nationally syndicated columnist, has taken time out to mix sports and

Well, I for one disagree. In fact, I hereby give permission - nay, encouragement - for immigrants
