Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley's bright idea to change the name of St James' Park to 'The
Sports Direct Arena' is still dominating the Toon news. Just as Ashley was seemingly gaining some
ground with fans after a fantastic start to the season on the pitch, it seems he's now off a lot of
peoples' [.
I think I am more upset that I'm not as upset as the majority of fans are about the nasty re
branding of St James Park. I was surprised to see the new name as I thought it was going to be blah
blah blah @ St James Park, but we all knew this was [...]
With the news that Newcastle United will be changing it's name to "Sports Direct @ St James' Park",
the Managing Director of the club, Derek Llambias, has sought to reassure fans that the St James'
Park name would remain so long as he and current owner, Mike Ashley "reigned" at the club. Firstly
though, he [.

Newcastle United have issued a statement on their website in an attempt to get things straight on
Davide Santon's recent training ground injury to his right knee. As I pointed out in this story
yesterday, the ex Internazionale wing back has a history of right knee problems stemming from an

Has Mike Ashley reduced Newcastle United's debt? Hmmm. Well, it has been several months since
Newcastle United published their last set of audited accounts at Companies House (March 2011), and
that was for 2009/10. However, at that time it did appear as if the debt had actually risen
somewhat, though it is hard to deny [.
Most of you will be aware by now that yesterday, Newcastle United's Managing Director, Derek
Llambias, issued a statement on the club's performance in the latest transfer window. It read: "Now
that the transfer window has closed, we have had some time to reflect on the business we have
conducted over the summer.
Newcastle United deny that their players were out of control during Saturday's bust-up with
Arsenal. It appears Newcastle United aren't happy about the charges the FA levied after the fracas
during Saturday's game against Arsenal. The statement from the FA reads: "Newcastle United and
Arsenal have been charged by The FA with failing to control [.
In one of the most anticipated Tweets in human history, Newcastle United dissident, Joey Barton,
has been on his Twitta page again. He once promised on there that he would "I will tell all when
the time is right." Earlier today on his Twitter page, he made a series of Tweets, saying first,
somewhat mysteriously: [.
Today we have a rather startling and a little bit of a confusing decision made by the club. In
order to go to away games, you must be a club member or a season ticket holder. The justification
for all of this is the events that took place at the Darlington friendly which we can [...]
Trouble at the Darlington v Newcastle United pre-season friendly receives condemnation from the
press and the clubs themselves. It seems the Darlington nonsense has (rightly) received a fair bit
of condemnation. Pitch invasions are never welcomed these days and it does nothing good for the
reputations of either Newcastle United or Darlington.
Mike Ashley's '5 year plan' is to create a self sufficient business model, this is the aim for his
Newcastle United project. Now, this should be the aim for any business, and especially where
football clubs are concerned with the financial rules set to take effect, and the current state of
the economic climate.
John Carver has joined Newcastle United as assistant manager on contract until the end of the
season. Carver said: "I am proud and honoured to be able to come back once again to my hometown
club. "I have been lucky to be able to work around the world with some excellent people. "However,
I have [...]
