So Wolves have been ruthless and they have sacked old Mick, which is a shame... You see I'm a big
fan of 'straight-talking' Mick McCarthy and to commemorate this I have found a fantastic poem that
defines Mick's time at Wolves and his presence in the current managerial climate.. The Wolf-King's
Lament by Francisco de [.
The out-Stoking of Stoke at Anfield two weeks ago, followed a week later by the utter shambles
of a performance at Bolton, set the table for a four-day stretch in which Liverpool's future, not
only in the two domestic cup competitions, had been placed in the balance by a fairly significant
portion of those who fancy themselves supporters of both Liverpool and general unrest.
By the standards used to judge recent red-carded tackles like Vincent Kompany's against
Manchester United and Jay Spearing's against Fulham, on Wednesday night Glen Johnson at the very
least put himself in a position where seeing red was a very real possibility. Maybe even the most
likely possibility.

In his moments of retrospection, does Dalglish ever wonder if his own posturing might have
helped create a climate in which intolerance could thrive?

Kenny Dalglish has spent over £100m on new players since returning to Anfield, and he has
repeatedly stated that the club's current squad is much stronger than it was last season. There may
be some truth to that contention, but former Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers midfielder Robbie
Savage believes Liverpool still need to spend a huge amount of money to be in with a chance of
winning the title.
I think those who saw the match just now on TV would agree that bad decisions against us had cost
us dearly at Kunming.
Already handicapped by the climate that bogged both sides, the controversial call by the referee in
the second half on several decisions must had fumed a lot of folks back here with two dubious
penalty decisions that eventually paved the way to an unglamorous win for the hosts.
We've mourned the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo to La Liga in the past taken from us as Fantasy Premier
League managers and sent to a warmer climate, and now Cesc Fabregas has returned to his hometown
club. Well, ... Continue reading →

On the match:
"I was disappointed for 15 minutes. I think we had an opportunity to score a goal. We had a great
chance by Eddie Johnson from a back pass that could have put us one-nil up. I keep telling
the guys that chances win goals, and goals win games.

I had a rant a week or so ago at some Chelsea fans with all their negativity about our performances
in pre-season. People were moaning about a lack of signings and the way we were playing so I posted
an article called "Enough is enough".
In that post, my message was clear, we are in pre season after only being back in training for a
couple of weeks and also getting used to the climate in the Far East.
Newcastle United get their US pre-season tour underway with a 0-0 draw against Sporting Kansas City
and Ben Arfa is stretchered off with a leg injury. The 100 degree Fahrenheit climate was described
as 'brutally hot' in Kansas as Newcastle lined up to take on Sporting Kansas City in the first of
three matches as [.

My coaching or "direction" experience is extremely limited. Captained a few teams growing up,
coached and captained a few ultimate frisbee teams (if you want to talk about a sport that's just
scratching the service of tactical nous, well that's it) and recently captain our men's league
team.
Hopefully everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend. From the Women's World Cup in Germany,
to a full slate of MLS matches, to a Nutralite Championship, there is plenty of soccer to be had.
In the interim, here is an inteview we did in May of 2010 with Harrison and Steven Stark.

Soccer and Geopolitics recently published by Blue River Press.

The Norwegian national team, currently ranked 11th in the world, will be
placed in the top seeded pot when the qualification groups for the 2014 World Cup are drawn,
meaning that the Nordic country will avoid strong nations such as England, Germany and
Netherlands.
The Club has confirmed that the team will be travelling to London on Tuesday night
Ok, many of you would have already heard the news... No it's not about Giggs and his Super
injunction, its about that Volcano eruption of the Volcano whose name is quite tricky - Grimsvoetn.
Last season there was a similar Volcano eruption which disrupted our travel plans to Milan.
After another Brazilian starlet has admitted that "it's a dream to play for Chelsea" it seems that
Neymar's President of his club Santos has once again refuted the idea of the player leaving his
club.
Lucas Piazon has already agreed a deal to sign for the club on his 18th birthday and will link up
with Alex, Ramires and David Luiz at Chelsea.
The Los Angeles Galaxy head into the 2011 season as one of the favorites to win MLS Cup, and now
it appears the club could have a chance to win a third championship in its home stadium.
Tim Leiweke, head honcho of Galaxy owners AEG, dropped some serious hints on Friday that the
2011 MLS Cup Final could be played at Home Depot Center, which has hosted the MLS Cup Final on
three previous occasions (2003,2004 and 2008).
Every goal ends an old match and begins a new one. That's the hardest thing to recreate, after
the fact, when you read about heroic comebacks: the sheer tremendousness of the goals, the way
whatever happened took place in a reality that was totally conditioned by what had gone before, and
not conditioned at all by the (still-unforeseeable) events to come, which to us are the most
famous, and hence most inevitable-seeming, part of the story.
DOHA, Qatar FIFA has announced that there are no plans to move the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to
winter to alleviate concerns over the country's climate. As temperatures can reach 50 degrees
Celsius in the summer in Qatar, there had been strong indications that FIFA was ready to move the
tournament. President Sepp [.

Well it seems that the powers that be at Newcastle think a warmer climate may do Andy Carroll some
good, as they've shipped him off to Dubai for a week. The England striker, who turned 22
yesterday, has a thigh injury and Alan Pardew, the Newcastle manager, has decided to give him a
winter break, [.
