It's been hard for Arsenal fans in the last few years watching our ex-players leaving the Emirates in search of trophies (or money!). It was nice to see Nasri's face yesterday after yesterday's Cup Final defeat, but he did win a Premiership medal last season, even if it was just by the skin of his teeth.
With the African Cup of Nations about to begin, we are running a series of articles looking at the role that African players have had at Arsenal. by Ed Dove
Even if Theo Walcott does not play as the central striker for Arsenal against Manchester City today, a lot of the expectation for scoring goals will be on his young shoulders. With the jury still out on whether he can make it as an out and out front man for the Gunners, people will be watching him closely today to see how he fares against the better teams in the Premier league.
As the season moves forward with the up and down drama that a Premier League season promises, Arsenal have struggled to find their feet and with so many notably poor performances against the less favoured sides in the league questions must be raised about the attitude of the current squad.
Arsene Wenger is under pressure to deliver and now faces a task of steadying the sinking ship that is Arsenal Football club.
It is no secret that Arsenal are struggling to score goals at the moment so what are we going to do at Man Utd? One positive is that Utd have been conceding a lot lately, but the problem is that we are not scoring. These are my worries, I think Sir Alex will put Nani on the right wing to make Santos and our lives miserable.
Gael Clichy spent eight seasons at Arsenal under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger before moving to Manchester City last July. He does not occupy the same pantomime villain role as Samir Nasri or Ashley Cole, however, because he is not gloating and disrespectful like those two. He seems to appreciate what Arsenal and Wenger did for him and his career.
Puma signs contract with Gael Clichy - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
The German sports goods manufacturer Puma has signed a partnership agreement with the French international and Manchester City full-back Gael Clichy. He previously wore Umbro boots.
Last season, Puma also signed a contract with Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas who used to wear Nike.
You could have forgiven the Arsenal left back Kieran Gibbs for becoming disillusioned and thinking that he was never going to see his career as a Gunner take off. Arsenal fans may also have started to think that Gibbs was one of those players who always seems to be getting injured but, so far this season, it seems like he may finally cement his place as first choice left back.
Arsene Wenger seemed to snub former Arsenal full-back Gael Clichy as they both past one another in the City tunnel yesterday, what surprises me is Clichy thinks his old boss should have acknowledged him, why he left the club who nurtured him without even a thank you.
Today sees the first round of internationals take place as teams, you know, play against each
other and stuff. And there'll be some goals and corners and yellow cards and red cards, but they're
not all made out of ticky-tacky and they won't turn out all the same.
From an Arsenal point of view you can see the players on duty here and we'll be keeping
everything crossed that they come through tonight, then Tuesday night, without any problems so they
can continue their start to the season with the real football, the football that people actually
care about.
Feel sorry for Wenger by AS Some fans loyal to Arsenal Football Club will be fervently hoping the
last couple of days have been a really bad nightmare, most probably caused by something you ate.
They'll be hoping that Robin van Persie has not borrowed Fabio da Silva's number 20 jersey at
Manchester United.
Let's face it, we have all become sick of the story. Arsenal gradually and painstakingly bring
through players from various avenues of the youth development programme only to find they have
Barca DNA, a dodgy hamstring or are just plain unsuited to the Premier League.

Robin van Persie released his statement for the fans on the USA's independence day. His transfer

imagine the Dutchman performing his version of the Queen's I want to break free to

Arsenal: Right idea, wrong time Mr Van Persie? is a post from: Just Football

Ever since the last serious claim to success Arsenal had, losing the Champions
League-final to Barcelona in 2006, there has been a steady exodus of high-profile players who have
gone in pursuit of trophies and medals.
Carlos Tevez made headlines yesterday by holding up a provocative slogan against Sir Alex
Ferguson during Manchester City's title parade and now Samir Nasri has become the second Citizen to
hit back at his former club.
Tevez's ill-tempered approach in mocking Manchester United was criticized throughout the media
and although Nasri has not issued a personally offensive statement, his criticism of Arsenal's fans
would only worsen his reputation among the Gunners faithful.
I must admit that for many years I loved Gael Clichy. Maybe it was because of the fact that he
reminded me of my oldest son. He also played left back and always played his heart out. He was
rather small so had to be clever. He had a tremendous clean [...]
One-nil to the Arsenal, and as one goal wins go, that one was as sweet as it was deserved.
Sweet because we needed a win and we needed a performance after that baffling foot-off-the-pedal
defeat at QPR. Wenger said it was a blip and that yesterday we'd see the real Arsenal back the one
utterly reinvigorated since February and he was right.
Andre Santos and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have no doubts that their Arsenal side can go from
relative anonymity at the beginning of this year to being crowned champions at the end of next
season.
Santos and Oxlade-Chamberlain arrived last summer to join a Gunners squad that lost the services
of Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri to Manchester City, and former skipper Cesc Fabregas to
Barcelona.
The Man City manager Roberto Mancini has made it clear that if Robin Van Persie doesn't sign his
new contract extension at Arsenal this summer, then he would be very keen for the Dutchman to join
Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy at the Etihad Stadium. Mancini said: "We are interested in all good
players. This [.
All eyes were on the Etihad Stadium on Sunday as Manchester City hosted cross-town rivals Manchester United in a hugely anticipated top of the table clash. Both sides put out extremely strong squads, though it was the red side of Manchester that managed to come out on top.
Manchester United jumped out to an early lead through Wayne Rooney but City fought their way back into the game deep into the second half.
It was deja-vu all over again for Manchester City as the Premier League champions opened their
title defence with a thrilling win over newly-promoted Southampton. Not only was the score exactly
the same as that never-to-be-forgotten final home game against Queens Park Rangers last season, so
was the scoring sequence, and even the ends they went in at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City is in the driver's seat right now in the pursuit of an English Premier League
