Carolina RailHawks head coach Martin Rennie, 36, has been named as head coach of the MLS
Vancouver Whitecaps, beginning after the completion of the 2011 season. Rennie, who is in his
third season with the RailHawks, has already qualified the club for a playoff spot with almost a
third of the season to go, fashioning a 14-2-3 record and a twelve point cushion at the top of the
NASL table over second place Puerto Rico.

Martin Rennie is leaving the Carolina Railhawks at the end of the 2011 NASL season. Rennie will be
moving Major League Soccer to coach the Vancouver Whitecaps. Carolina Railhawk's president Curt
Johnson spoke to the media to officially break the news.
Rennie is in the middle of his third season with the Railhawks and will be leading the Vancouver
Whitecaps in MLS starting in 2012.
The U.S. Open Cup is a tradition that dates back to 1914. The City of Chicago has been around
since 1837. The Chicago Fire were founded in 1997. It's a little crazy to think about but the
founding of Chicago is chronologically closer to the beginning of the U.S. Open Cup than the
founding of the soccer club we call our own.
USL PRO clubs have recently announced several signings of players for the 2011
season.
The Pittsburgh Riverhounds announced that 2010 starting goalkeeper Hunter
Gilstrap will be returning, while the USL-2 champion Charleston Battery have re-signed
three players from their trophy-lifting 2010 squad: Defender Colin Falvey,
midfielder Zach Prince and goalkeeper Keith Wiggans.
