As both an Arsenal fan and a longtime Los Angeles Galaxy season ticket holder, I have been asked
how I reconcile my support for two different teams. I always reply that supporting Arsenal and
the Galaxy is like having two friends who are destined never to meet. This Saturday at the
Emirates, that quip will be forever buried as my beloved Arsenal takes on Everton who will likely
feature Landon Donovan, the captain of my beloved Galaxy.

It is one of the best problems your national team can have. In fact it is nearly unheard of.
Spain just might possibly have the two best keepers in the entire world.
It is similar to when the San Franisco 49ers had both Joe Montana and Steve Young at the QB
position.
Since there have been lots and lots of comments elsewhere on the progress of our club, I would
just like to post an article by Tomkins, which I am sure took a very very long time to produce.
Hence it should be given its due respect. The article is at his membership site but this one is
free, so I thought I would just copy and paste the whole thing.
Former Chelsea stud Eidur Gudjohnsen has joined Tottenham
We predicted an Arsenal
- Aston Villa draw, as well as a 2-goal Everton win on Monday, (pats self on back) but now we are
back to our regularly scheduled weekend gameweeks, so let's get to it:
I. Manchester United @ Arsenal: Sol Campbell is old, and much slower, and will face off
against a Wayne Rooney in the form of his life on Sunday.
Roberto Mancini's appointment has had the desired effect on the stuttering Manchester City team. In
the two matches that the Italian has been in charge, the team has tightened up with two clean
sheets and Carlos Tevez looks to be in the form of his life. City's performance has been so
encouraging that Mancini has been bold enough to change his cautious top four statement to
legitimate Premier

1 ) Cesc Fabregas
Not only is Cesc Fabregas the best player 22 & Under, but he might be the best midfielder in the
entire Premier League. I apologize to all the Lampard and Gerrard fans out there, but what
Fabregas is doing this year is incredible and it is no coincidence that Barcelona is salavating
over purchasing the young star.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp wants his side to be the big beneficiaries of the recent cold snap
when they travel to Anfield to face a Liverpool side without Fernando Torres or Steven Gerrard.
Spurs were due to face their rivals for a Champions League place earlier in the month but the match
was postponed due to snow, with Gerrard and Torres then suffering injuries in the FA Cup defeat to
Reading.
‘Arry has been banging on about the triffic opportunity tonight's game presents, and he has a
point – for without Gerrard and Torres that lot suffer from a lack of both confidence and
quality; while clean sheets a-plenty have underpinned some pretty decent recent performances from
our heroes. Off the top of my head I can't actually remember the last time we ever won in the
League at Anfield, but having caught snatches of their game against Reading in the Cup last week
the place looks more like a wendy-house than a fortress at the moment.
"Now is the winter of our discontent, made glorious summer by this sun of York"
(Shakespeare- Richard III)
Yes, I know a bit of culture is always welcomed by the Soccerlens readers and who better than
The Bard himself to open this piece? Of course Will actually meant that the time of discontent was
waning (in it's 'winter'), while I borrow the great man's phrase to suggest that down Stamford
Bridge way the words winter and discontent are becoming synonymous in recent seasons.

Well they say it isn't over until the fat lady sings, but for now I will spare you all the
entrance of Rosie O'Donell and instead we will evaluate the first half of the season and try to
figure out who will most likely take home some of the most coveted awards known and recognised by
the football world.

Out of all of the major football leagues in all of the world, nobody has made as many headlines
as La Liga has this season. The rage all started before the year had even begun when three of the
world's biggest footballers (Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Kaka) all joined the
Spanish league in mega multi-million dollar moves.
Happier times for United's central defenders
It's been injuries all season to
United's top defenders (Vidic, Ferdinand, O'Shea, Evans, Neville, Rafael, and Wes Brown have all
faced lengthy spells on the sidelines) but somehow Sir Alex Ferguson's men are still 2 points off
the top of the table, in second place.

Patrick Vieira is in talks over a proposed move to big-spending Manchester City, it was
reported today.
Our regular contributor, Ted Harwood, gets his chance to muse on the decade past.
When I think back on the last decade of Arsenal football, I couldn't imagine supporting any
other team. Two Premier League titles, three times runners-up; three FA cups, once runners-up;
one Champions League final, never out of the top four in England.

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres rates club and country team-mate Jose Reina as the best
goalkeeper in the world.
With players in virtually every position under-achieving this season, Reina has been the only one
to consistently produce high standards for the Reds.
In the recent victory at Aston Villa the Spain international made some instinctive, crucial saves -
and that is why Torres rates him so highly.

19.45 West Brom v Nottingham Forest, Championship, Sky Sports 1/HD1
A real test for Forest's increasingly credible promotion ambitions. West Brom's 1-0 victory at the
City Ground back in August was a rare defeat for Forest who are on a 16 match unbeaten run in the
League.
Sunday's match up at Anfield will be tough for us, especially with the news that Aaron Lennon will
most likely miss the match. Harry will make a decision on whether to include him in the squad or
not tomorrow.
Can we call on Bentley? Probably not. When I look back on his stint with us, it really annoys me
that he simply couldn't be asked.
Manchester United are back in action this weekend after the midweek postponement of the Carling
Cup semi-final. The F.A. Cup 3rd Round loss to Leeds United has been hard to swallow, with many of
the team in for harsh criticism, so expect two things against Birmingham later today. First, a
number of changes and second, the dreaded United backlash.

For those of you who do not know what the silver fox is, it is a term used to describe
an older genleman that still is on the top of his game. For example Brett Favre is often referred
to as the silver fox of the NFL. This list is of the top three Premier League players that have
impressed so far this year despite being over 34 years of age.

Didier Drogba has had more reasons to celebrate this Premier League season then just about any
other player in the top flight. Not only has Drogba achieved excellent numbers to start off his
2009/2010 campaign, but the Ivory Coast star has his Chelsea Blues squad in prime position to take
home the Premier League title this season as well.
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has backed his goalkeeper Joe Hart to be England no.1. Hart is on a
season long loan from Manchester City and has had 11 clean sheets so far this season and with the
no.1 shirt still apparently up for grabs McLeish thinks his keeper should be ...
Morning all. I did the classic thing of waking up in the middle of the night, and in the course
of trying to get back to sleep thought of something particularly noteworthy to blog about this
morning. Sure enough, when I woke up, I couldn't remember a jot. I remember once being advised by
someone to leave a notebook by the side of my bed so I could write down dreams, nightmares, blog
ideas.

1) Barcelona
Barca has only given up 10 goals in 17 matches this season. That fact does not get the
attention that it deserves very often, but that just might mean that Barcelona owns not only the
best offensive unit in the whole world, but maybe the best defensive unit as well.
Along with the rest of the Tottenham defence, Heurelho Gomes has now gone 627 minutes without
conceding a goal.
The six consecutive clean sheets is our best defensive effort since the 1994/95 season and in
terms of minutes without conceding, we are honing in on our record of 690 minutes of 'nil', set
back in 1970.
The next 18 games for Manchester Utd will be crucial. I'm aware that I'm stating the obvious,
but United can't afford to drop more points as rivals Chelsea and Arsenal are in top form. But the
Red Devils will no doubt be boosted by the return of Rio Ferdinand, back after three months out on
the sidelines, for the Hull City game.
<!-- @page { margin: 2cm } P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm } --> Number four on my list of games
we need to win if we are going anywhere this season. By 'anywhere' I mean top class venues in
Europe. We have not done well enough lately although we have only lost 1 in eight in the league and
1 in 10 in all games.
Liverpool defender Daniel Agger thinks that the Reds' difficult season might now be about to turn
for the better.
Following a 2-0 win over Tottenham last midweek, Liverpool stumbled again on Tuesday night, drawing
0-0 at Wolves.
However, Danish defender Agger believes Rafa Benitez's side can find the form that is necessary
from now until the end of the season so long as they concentrate on one game at a time.
Defenders Fabio Aurelio and Philipp Degen will both miss the Barclays Premier League clash at home
to Bolton.
Aurelio has missed the last two matches with a minor knock while Degen (calf) did not play in the
midweek goalless draw with Wolves.
However, centre-back Daniel Agger returns to the squad after regaining fitness while captain Steven
Gerrard has reported no after-effects from Tuesday night when he made his comeback after a
hamstring problem.
Rafael Benitez has spent so much time on the defensive lately that perhaps it's no surprise his
team seem intent on following suit.
Those unfortunate enough to be present at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday night will no doubt be
nodding in agreement after a turgid encounter in which Liverpool's attacking shortcomings were at
their most painfully evident.
