will be playing a 10-month season starting in September and ending in June. The new schedule

The United States Soccer Federation announced on Tuesday that the 2012 Hall of Fame induction will
be held before the USA - Brazil game on May 30th in Landover, MD. The 2012 induction class of
Claudio Reyna, Tony Meola, Desmond Armstrong, and Tony DiCicco will be presented to the crowd prior

Out of seemingly nowhere, the U.S. Soccer Federation has cleared house. Today, the U.S. power
that be announced U.
For the seventh consecutive year, I'm one of the voters for the National Soccer Hall of Fame,
and it's a responsibility I take very seriously. I've made each of my previous six ballots and the
rationales behind them public, so there's no need to change now.
There are 12 newcomers on the 31-player ballot for 2012.

U.S. Soccer released its ballot for the National Soccer Hall of Fame on Tuesday, with 31 former
players -- and 12 first-time nominees -- making the final ballot for the Class of 2012.
Among the first-timers are former U.S. goalkeeper Tony Meola and captain Claudio Reyna.

Soccer Hall of Fame's Class of 2012 was released earlier this week, with two of the nominees
presenting themselves as obvious choices. Claudio Reyna and Tony Meola should have no problem
getting the requisite number of votes to make them first ballot Hall of Famers.

Ever since Amado Guevara was shown the door, I've been clamoring for an actual #10 Creative
Midfielder for our team - to absolutely no avail. That genius Bruce Arena (besides destroying our
pretty good backline in 2007) saddled us with the perenially injured Claudio Reyna, who (as a
defensive midfielder) was absolutely not the creative player we needed.
One of Jurgen Klinsmann's goals upon becoming coach of the U.S. national team was to revamp the
system from senior team to youth structure, and with Friday's announcement, he has certainly made a
major change to the latter.
Starting in September, the U.S. Development Academy will operate on a 10-month schedule,
mimicking the development systems of nations around the world.

Men's National Team as the group continues training through March 1 in Clermont, Fla.
Claudio Reyna and Tony Meola have been elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame along with
veteran inductee Desmond Armstrong and builder inductee Tony DiCicco. Reyna and Meola are both
first-ballot inductees, with Armstrong rounding out the group of three US National Soccer Team
Players to receive the highest honor in American professional soccer.
U.S. national team legends Claudio Reyna and Tony Meola were the easiest selections in the
latest ballot for the National Soccer Hall of Fame, and voters agreed, making them the headliners
in the Hall's Class of 2012.
Reyna received 96 percent of the voting and Meola received 90 percent of the voting to headline
a class that also includes former U.

The first time proved to be the charm for former U.S. Men's National Team members Claudio
Reyna and Tony Meola on Wednesday after both were elected to the National Soccer Hall of
Fame.
USA! USA! USA!
It started with the USWNT's 5–0 demolition of Denmark in their opening game in the Algarve
Cup. It continued with the USMNT's historic 1–0 win over Italy in Italy. It ended with the USMNT
U-23s convincing 2–0 win over Mexico's U-23s. Three-for-three with three shutouts in one
day—surely that's never happened before in US Soccer.
The United States Under-20 National Team will be in camp from April 9th through the 16th, the US
Soccer Federation announced on Monday. U-20 coach Claudio Reyna has called in 24 players for a camp
that will include two games against club teams. "We've had three camps this year and taken
advantage of the opportunity to cast a wide net in evaluating the player pool," Ramos said.
At the University of Virginia, Claudio Reyna lead the Cavaliers to three straight
NCAA Championship. The UVA men where crowned champions each of year of Reyna's college career, a
college career in which he was coached by National Soccer Hall of Famer Bruce
Arena.
Prior to Wednesday night's match between the U.S. men's national team and Brazil, a quartet of
individuals who helped build the foundation for both men's and women's soccer in this country will
receive their due.
Claudio Reyna, Tony Meola, Desmond Armstrong and Tony DiCicco will be inducted into the National
Hall of Fame, and longtime journalist Grahame Jones will be honored as well, at a ceremony at
FedEx Field before the friendly.
Before Wednesday's USA-Brazil friendly, the National Soccer Hall of Fame officially welcomed the
class of 2012. United States NationalTeam alumni Desmond Armstrong, Tony Meola, and Claudio Reyna
were inducted alongside builder Tony DiCiccio and journalism award winner Grahame L. Jones. In at
times emotional ceremony, the inductees stressed to the audience of family, friends, and American
soccer dignitaries the kind of commitment and support it takes to have a Hall of Fame career.
In the last blog we talked about the last time the USA played in Canada. The day was Nov. 9, 1997
and it was the game where the USA clinched qualification for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Roy Wegerle
scored twice and new Hall of Famer Claudio Reyna added another as the MNT booked its spot for the
tournament in France.
