Bath City have drawn Forest Green Rovers for a home match next week in the Second Round of the FA
Cup. The selection was actually almost two weeks ago, but because Forest Green and Mansfield Town
failed to produce a result in their Frist Round match, City could not be sure who their opponents
would be until the replay two days ago.

The Republik of Mancunia picks out what City fans think of Carlos Tevez. Priceless read.
The Run of Play unmasks the "toothbrushing man".
Those of you not aware of the toothbrushing man, here's the reference (happened during the

Football Remembers. Commemorating the end of World War I, prior to each of this
weekend's fixtures, football fans up and down the country stood unified in a minute's silence to
remember the fallen servicemen from wars gone by. It's good to know that football fans can spot the
real heroes.

Bath City beat Grimsby Town 2-0 yesterday. I still feel giddy typing that. Not a 1-0 victory thanks
to a fluke goal against the run of play. Oh no! Bath City defeated Grimsby Town with a decisive
goal in each half. It is one of those results you need to say out loud over and over again, just so
that you can reassure yourself that it really happened.

After a decade in relative anonymity at the wrong end of the English football league pyramid, you
would think Hull City fans would be enjoying their spell in the limelight. But given the worrying
nature of the headlines over the past few weeks, you could forgive them for wishing for a return to
the peace and quiet of the lower leagues.

Football fans have become better educated in the mysteries of football finances over recent
years out of necessity as much as anything else, but just occasionally old naiveties come to the
fore. It might just be that they can't believe that things could be as bad off the pitch as on it
at the moment, but Hull City fans are less concerned than they should be about the lack of
financial information coming out of their club in recent times, and now that the information has
come out and has proved as grim as one may have feared, they still don't sem to believe that things
can be as bad off the pitch as on it; despite the phrase "significant doubt over their ability to
continue as a going concern" appearing not once, but three times in a relatively short annual
report and statement of accounts for the Tigers' promotion year.

Bath City beat Weymouth 2-0 Tuesday night. Weymouth is the sick man of the Blue Square South this
season. City fans would have been hoping for a more emphatic victory. Last Spring, however, City
lost 0-1 to the last season's sick man of the Blue Square South, Fisher Athletic. This occurred at
a key moment in the season and may have cost City a playoff spot.

I'm well aware that Thursday night is the night to go out for young, drunken & collegiate, so if
you are between the ages 18 & 23 and currently share an apartment/dorm room that hasn't been
cleaned since August with a guy named "Bodie" I'm cool with you ignoring this post.
Now for everyone that is still here may I remind you that there is a game tonight with super-sized
playoff implications.

There are times when being a football supporter is a thoroughly dreadful experience. There are
times when it feels like fate has ripped your heart out of your chest, stomped on it, and then done
a little dance on it. These times are called losing. If you are lucky these times only occur a bit
less than half of the time.

Whatever happened to the 'Golden Generation'? They seemed to kick up a fuss a few years ago
without ever doing anything. They even gained a reputation by not winning anything. Apparently Sven
wasted them and we missed our chance.
Another ‘Golden Generation' knocked them out on penalties in 2004 and they didn't win
anything.

Before the FA Cup draw for the Fourth (and final) Qualifying Round was announced yesterday I had a
sinking feeling that we were going to draw Eastleigh. Bath City had had two fortunate draws in a
row: Willand Rovers, who play three leagues below City, and Bishop's Cleeve, who play two below. It
seemed unlikely that fate would smile on us for a third time, and with Newport County having been
eliminated by the lowly Paulton Rovers (ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, oh stop it!

Much praise has been heaped on Richard Dunne following his opening goal in Monday night's 1-1 draw
for his refusal to celebrate the goal, out of respect for the City fans - who in turn clearly
conveyed their feelings and regard for him throughout the game.
The 'non-celebration' has been something the press have focused on recently, and always in
comparison to Emmanuel Adebayor's infamous celebration after scoring against Arsenal, and Carlos
Tevez appeared apologetic after scoring for us against West Ham.

The situation at Chester City, as we have noted on here before, appears to be going from bad to
worse. A report in The Non-League Paper yesterday reported that the club may have just weeks to
live and, as we saw from the accounts posted on the club's website just last week, this may be no
great overstatement.

Yesterday's against Newport County was one of the away matches I wanted to see most this season.
County are not only bitter rivals (well, as bitter as we get in non-league football) but I guessed
Newport would be near enough that Mrs Nedved would not begrudge a day pass. Besides, as she comes
from a large Welsh family anything that involves going to Wales is generally viewed in a positive
light.

Any reasonably minded City fan cannot really complain. Eight competitive games played, seven won.
Its been a strong start to the new season. Actually, no. Its been more than strong. The victory
against West Ham makes it City's best league start since 1961.
The defeat of Arsenal
The real high so far has been the 4-2 defeat of Arsenal, a match
that will go down in Eastlands history because of the intensity in which it was played and
controversy that it produced.

John Terry has played first team football for Chelsea for eleven seasons. In that time they have
finished 3rd, 5th, 6th, 6th, 4th, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd in the league, giving them an
averaging finishing place of 3rd. Yet those title wins five and six seasons ago have given Terry
ideas above his station.

So, two people seemed set on trying to steal the spotlight away from Arsene Wenger on his big
day yesterday.
I will deal with the grotty little being that is Emmanuel Adebayor first poor Emmanuel, (he is
named after an angel, you know?) received so much nastiness from those horrid traveling Arsenal
fans on that fateful day at Middle Eastlands that it created this massive force field that dragged
poor Manu the entire length of the pitch and forced him to his knees, just short of those horrible,
mean, beastly Arsenal fans who were saying they liked a little Russian man more than him.

Pablo Zabaleta has today reiterated the fact that Carlos Tevez didn't want to leave Manchester
United before penning a contract at local rivals City, which would see him earn over £50,000 more
a week.
He also believes that our reaction to our former player during derby day, which upset Tevez,
vindicates the decision to join City, because of course City fans wouldn't boo a player who left
them for us.

Word is the FA gave Manchester City star Craig Bellamy a slap on the wrist for seeking out and

I'm sure I wasn't alone in being unimpressed with City's travelling support in the weekend.
Whilst they sung a song or two in the aftermath of a goal, they didn't give out the impression it
was derby day and they were really up for it. Whilst the Old Trafford atmosphere is often mocked,
honest City fans there that day would have to admit they were completely outdone on Sunday.

Despite the Premier League's reputation for being the most exciting league in the world matches
like Sunday's Manchester derby don't come around too often.
I am supporter of neither team but I couldn't help but be caught up in the breathless drama of it
all. Local tussles such as this can often degenerate into passionate but scrappy affairs, with the
fear of defeating leading to a drab draw.
