The transfer window came to a close yesterday with some very interesting signings across Europe. Once again attention was centred on the EPL where a host of clubs were keen on bolstering their squads for the remainder of the season.

On Sunday, Major League Soccer announced the First XI for the 2011 MLS All-Star Game during the halftime of the Portland-Seattle game. Of the 11 named, seven of them came from two teams, the Los Angeles Galaxy and the New York Red Bulls.

If the fan vote is any indication, the MLS All-Star team will be heavy on the stars when they take on English Premier League champions Manchester United in the 2011 AT&T MLS All-Star Game on July 27 at Red Bull Arena.

The First XI also includes three players who have never been named to the MLS All-Star team.
