Mitchell, Orediggers upset FLC

Kayla Mitchell scored twice as the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team defeated RMAC tournament champion Fort Lewis 2-1 on Sunday at Dirks Field in Durango.

Mines (19-4-0) will face Metropolitan State College at noon Friday at Auraria Field in downtown Denver.

Mitchell, who finished the match with eight shots, scored the winning goal in the 40th minute, capitalizing on some miscommunication in the Fort Lewis defense.

Shutout sets up FLC-Mines semifinal

The first playoff match for the Colorado-Colorado Springs women's soccer program turned out to be a 3-0 loss to Fort Lewis. Hayley Hollenga, Sam Smith and Torrey Lawson scored in a span of less than four minutes in the first half on Wednesday in Durango in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference quarterfinals.

Freshman Taylor White scored her first collegiate goal to help lead the Regis Universtiy women's soccer team to a 2-2 tie with No. 13 Fort Lewis College on Sunday in Denver. Sophomore Kari Taylor also scored for the Rangers.

Fort Lewis' Erika Shisler scored in the seventh minute after receiving the ball near the goal and kicking it into the lower left corner.

Mitchell scores fifth treble of season, 26th goal of year

Kayla Mitchell scored four goals, including her conference-leading 26th of the season, as the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team posted its 12th shutout, a 4-0 victory against CSU-Pueblo on Friday in Golden.

The Orediggers have shut out seven of their past eight opponents.

Mitchell gave Mines a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, when Liz Oba chipped a ball over the CSU-Pueblo defense.

Jamie MacArthur and Laurel Reinhardt had the goals and Hayley Hollenga had both assists as the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team shut out Mesa State College 2-0 on Wednesday in Grand Junction.

The Skyhawks, ranked No. 23 in Division II, improved to 11-2-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with their 10th shutout of the season.

No. 20 Roadrunners stun 11th-ranked Fort Lewis in overtime

Aleah DeGeneres scored on a cross from Madison McQuilliams in the 103rd minute to give No. 20 Metro State a 3-2 victory over No. 11 Fort Lewis on Friday afternoon at Auraria Field. It was the first loss of the season for Fort Lewis and marked the first time the Skyhawks had allowed a goal in 2009.
