1. The shock of the summer so far. Job seeking Michael Owen signs for Man Utd to the total surprise
of everyone. The striker will take take a substantial cut to his £110,000-a-week wages at
Newcastle to around £30,000-a-week, although he will earn a similar figure if clauses related to
goals, appearances and success are met.

Apparently Liverpool Is Very Rough!
With Manchester City giving a big ole middle finger to the global recession, ESPN thought it
prudent to concoct the world's most expensive lineup in the history of ever. It is, as one might
expect, littered with immense talent; talent that has both lived up to the lofty price and talent
which has failed quite [.
We love the Italian media.
When it comes to reporting the good, bad and in-between of Italian footballer behaviour, they
always err on the side of dramatic.
According to all the tabs, just about every player in the league has done some relationship
damage in the off-season – and it's only July.
The Italian glamour model, who isn't at all shy about showing off her goods (check Google Images
for NSFW proof) has dated several ballers, including Christian Vieri and Bernado Corradi. Click on

Hair like Tugay, Hopefully Better Stamina than the Turk
If at first you don't succeed signing one of the greatest living footballers, try again. Seems to
be Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce's train of thought.
Just a few weeks ago, big Sam was linked with a move to bring Ruud van Nistelrooy from Madrid to
Blackburn.
Could the 35 year old Italian striker be headed to the Los Angeles retirement home club?
Courtesy of Goal.com:
A new adventure in the United States of America looks likely for 'Bobo'... Former
Atalanta, Inter, Milan and Juventus striker Christian Vieri has flown out to Los Angeles to have a
trial with the Galaxy, just days after walking out on the Bergamaschi.
The Argentine youngster's Franco di Santo future at Chelsea appears to be up in the air as Rovers
hover. Following chairman John Williams' admission that Blackburn Rovers were interested in Franco
Di Santo, Sam Allardyce has suggested that they could take the Argentine permanently rather than on
loan, as was initially mooted.
Bobo Vieri quite sadly spent most of last year with a fork sticking out of his back. So after being
quickly ushered out of Firenze, he was, of course, snapped up by another half-decent Serie A team.
After two-thirds of a season of non-productivity, he and Atalanta parted ways. And now he's looking
for a [.
What may have otherwise been a quiet day in transfer news and rumors was made just a little bit
livelier by the news that Michael Owen was on his way to Manchester United.
Along with looking over the official word in today's roundup and seeing him among the new
additions to our summer transfer lists, you can catch Ahmed's reaction on the Owen signing, and the
SL forum has a spirited Owen-centric discussion going.
According to Chris Flanagan at the Lancashire Telegraph, Blackburn are checking
to see if Manchester City striker Benjani Mwaruwari is
available.
It is also reported that Blackburn plan on extending the trial for striker Christian
Vieri.
One of the most popular shows in Italy is "Striscia la Notizia" a parody news show
(kind've like a Daily Show with Jon Stewart or a Colbert Report but more variety show styled) that
is broadcast on Canale 5 in Italy. It is a very funny show and the news covers all aspects of daily
life. Probably one of the shows most famous segments is the "Tapiro D'Oro"
(pictured) [Golden Anteater Award] which is given to celebrities and famous people who are
embarrassed in the media.
According to Goal.com Vieri has had enough of limited playing time with Atalanta and is on his
way to LA for a trial.
Bruce Arena denies the rumor.
What do you think? Is he too old? Can we afford him? Do we even want him?
Additional article here thanks Laurie.
Wholesale changes for the Galaxy tonight as one might expect, which will no doubt leave the 241
in the crowd (at 7:25 p.m. - a press box colleague counted) quivering with anticipation
I'll get to the lineups in a minute, but first some non-news:
*Italian striker Christian Vieri is not coming to the Galaxy.
Here is a link to a story from the Washington Post that Christian Vieri might be joining the Los
Angeles Galaxy. Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena denies the rumor, which probably is a good thing as
Vieri's best days are long behind him. Once he was one of the most powerful and skillful forwards
in the game, but at this point in his career those days are long gone and he would just be another
name brought to MLS to try and attract a bigger crowd.
The veteran striker Christian Vieri is being tipped for an English move, according to reports
circulating in Italy. Premier League side Blackburn Rovers are being linked with former Milan,
Inter, Juventus, Lazio and Atletico Madrid star Christian Vieri, according to La Gazzetta Dello
Sport. The 36-year-old veteran striker rescinded his contract with Atalanta back in April, after [.

according to Arena. Though it could be possible he is coming without official LA contact......
News coming to you from Sports Illustrated....
The Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday denied reports that they will be offering a tryout to former
Italian national-team striker Christian Vieri.
Alfredo Pacheco is officially a New York Red Bull. Finally.
The Salvadoran left back is now formally on the roster after the club received Pacheco's
International Transfer Card on Thursday, putting an end to a drawn out loan process that dragged on
for two months.
Pacheco is expected to step in and start at left back for the Red Bulls when they take on Real
Salt Lake on Saturday.

Elena Santarelli, aka the soon-to-be Mrs. Bernardo "wet trunks" Corradi, had an interesting
weekend in Rome: she got a great blow out, and then made googly eyes at Elisabetta Canalis.
FYI, Elisabetta is George Clooney's latest fling (and Christian Vieri's ex).
Just try and picture Victoria Beckham cavorting on a stage with Danielle Lloyd gleefully

There was a time when Christian Vieri
was arguably the best striker in the world. He was a goalscoring machine and would hit the back of
the net regularly in Serie A and with the national team. Although after a couple of years at the
top, "Il Mostro" (The monster) as he was nicknamed by Inter fans, went through a steep decline and
was not the player he once was.
