And not a James Perch or Christian Poulsen in sight Yes, we have only had seven games of the
Premier League season, and yes it is the beginning of October. Even so, during the summer transfer
window 120 players were signed by Premier League clubs. Who has impressed so far? 10. Ali Al-Habsi

Rumours swirling around the internet this morning are suggesting that Liverpool's new owners
NESV are weighing up taking the £3 million hit it would take to release current manager
Roy Hodgson back into the wild thus clearing the way to install Frank
Rijkaard at the Anfield helm.
It would appear fairly certain that Javier Mascherano will leave Liverpool
before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month which would then leave Roy Hodgson on the
look-out for a new midfielder.
Plenty of names have already been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks and if you
believe some reports, Liverpool are close to signing Juventus midfielder Christian Poulsen.
Javier Mascherano now appears likely to stay at Anfield. The Argentinian defensive midfielder has
not suddenly had a change of heart, there was no dramatic last minute reverse to his earlier plea
to leave. Javier Mascherano is set to stay at Liverpool Football Club because of money, or more
appropriately the lack of it.
Dud deals Following hot on the heels of yesterday's best signings, here is the worst signings of
the season so far. The Premier League transfer market dabbling which currently look like the buying
clubs involved were ripped off. 1. Laurent Koscielny Arsene Wenger spent relatively big on his
defence this summer, not least £8.
News today in the Daily Star that Newcastle want to bring in Juventus midfielder Christian Poulsen,
on loan for next season. Christian Poulsen - Newcastle interested in Juventus midfielder Since it's
a loan deal we suspect that the age doesn't matter and the 30 year-old central midfielder could
provide some significant skills in the middle of the [.
We just watched the Cameroon vs Denmark game, in which quite a few former Newcastle players and
Magpie targets, played in the game. Vincent Aboubakar 18 year-old Cameroon International Jon Dahl
Tomasson played at center-forward for Denmark and supposed loan target for next season Christian
Poulsen played in midfield for Denmark but it was [.
Liverpool today confirmed the signing of Danish international

Liverpool number 28 will pave the way for Javier Mascherano's departure from Anfield, effectively
coming in as a cut-price replacement for the want-away Argentine.
Liverpool have confirmed the signing of 30 year Danish Midfielder Christian Poulsen from Juventus.
Liverpool were after a replacement for Javier Mascherano who is likely to leave the club, and Roy
Hodgson sees the tough Danish man as the ideal replacement. Capped 77 times for his country,

A Saturday round up covering all the major football stories in England, Germany, Italy and
Spain.
In the English Premiership Arsenal won away at Ewood Park against Blackburn Rovers, one of the
tougher fixtures in the domestic season. They did so largely thanks to Theo Walcott who continued
the fine form he displayed last week, when he scored a hat trick against Blackpool, scoring today
with a cracking finish to open the scoring.

Liverpool:
Team sheet when it's released.
Following on from my take on the situation at Liverpool yesterday an ex-coach has voiced his verdit
on what's happened there and let's just say he hasn't held back. Jacques Crevoisier who worked
under Gerard Houllier for two seasons has spoken out and his comments are published in The SUN this
morning.
There has been widespread criticism of the Bianconeri board and its directors yet there are some
obvious aspects which have been overlooked by the reporters and fans alike. The Juve management has
actually erred in allowing Pavel Nedved to retire, in hiring Cirro Ferrara to lead the team and in
their choice of players brought in to Turin.
In a daunting looking group alongside Holland, Cameroon and Japan, Denmark's
path to the later stages of the World Cup 2010 appears far from comfortable.
But with a sturdy group of players, good team spirit and in Morten Olsen one of international
football's longest-serving managers, Denmark may well surprise an upset or two.
With star striker Nicklas Bendtner already thrown out of London nightspot Boujis last year with
his trousers around his knees, the worry for Denmark ahead of their fourth World Cup finals
campaign is that the coming month will leave them further exposed.
Morten Olsen, now in his tenth year as national coach, can rely on a relatively solid back line
marshalled by Liverpool's Daniel Agger and – knee problems permitting – the hugely promising 21
year-old Simon Kjær, coming from a second straight outstanding season at Palermo.

Group E is one of the deepest groups in the World Cup as each nation will believe that they have
the ability to advance to the knock out stages.
The Netherlands have always relied on their attacking flair and in 2010, the story remains the
same as Wesley Sneijder and Robin Van Persie lead a fierce dutch attack.
Premier League giants Liverpool are looking to sign Christian Poulsen from Italian powerhouse
Juventus, according to a report in Italy.
Tuttocalcionews.it reports that the Reds want to sign the Danish international and are ready to
barter Dirk Kuyt in exchange.
The Bianconeri are looking to sell one of their central midfielders to make room in their transfer
and wage budgets to invest in other departments, and it appears they would be willing to listen to
enquiries from Roy Hodgson's side.
Former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini is on Liverpool's list of possible replacements for
Javier Mascherano.
Roy Hodgson has been offered Danish international Christian Poulsen by Juventus.
But the Frenchman has four years of experience in the Premier League before joining Milan on a free
transfer in 2008.
Juventus and Danish defensive midfielder Christian Poulsen, are expected to sign on at
Liverpool next week. The 30-year-old has been a long time target for Liverpool boss Roy
Hodgson, who helped launch his career at one of Denmark's biggest teams in F.C. Copenhagen.
While Hodgson was at Fulham he was trying to get Poulsen to Craven Cottage.
Liverpool have confirmed a deal to bring Danish midfielder Christian Poulsen to Anfield for a
fee of almost €5.5 million.
The arrival of the 30-year old Juventus player, who has formerly enjoyed a successful career at
Sevilla as well, can finally allow Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano to complete a move away
from Merseyside.

Christian Poulsen is no stranger to hard tackles and controversy, and this video of him punching

Liverpool manager makes his point concerning his player Javier Mascherano. Roy Hodgson opened up
about his Argentine defensive midfielder and made it perfectly clear, that if a bid for Mascherano
comes in from the team he wants to go to they will relcutantly consider it, even though he secured
the services of Christian Poulsen, a similar type of player.
So the EPL season is upon us. Here are 10 players that have recently moved to the Premier League
that we expect to have a big impact on their teams and league in general, in no particular order.
Anyone that's not on the list. . . . Well there is a reason why!
Javier Hernandez-Manchester United, the young Mexican forward has already
started scoring for the Red Devils, and is already dubbed the new Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Roy Hodgson confirmed that Diego Cavalieri looks set to leave Liverpool - but...
Mention the 2009-2010 season to Juventus' 170 million fans and they will shake their head in
disgust. Italy's most successful and beloved soccer team was a shell of itself, missing out on a
European tournament spot due to poor play and aging players. It is not a coincidence that the
Italian national team also failed to live up to expectations in the World Cup, as Juve players made
up a large contingent of the team.
Liverpool head to Eastlands on Monday night to take on a Manchester City side that has invested
over £129m this summer, on the talents of Yaya Toure, James Milner, Mario Balotelli, David Silva,
Aleksandar Kolarov & Jermone Boateng.
Despite the players City have added to their squad and a tough opening day fixture against
Arsenal, the Reds may find themselves facing Mancini's men at a good time, as the side is clearly
going to take time to gel before any real fluency of football is played on a consistent basis and
there was certainly evidence of that against a more established Spurs side that they struggled to
keep at bay for the first 45mins last weekend.
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed he would like funds to strengthen his squad.
The Merseysiders have been busy in the transfer market this summer with Joe Cole, Christian
Poulsen, Brad Jones, Danny Wilson, Milan Jovanovic, and Jonjo Shelvey all joining.
However, the ex-Fulham boss knows that with just one week left before the transfer window closes,
the time left to strengthen is not the best period in which to splash the cash.

Maxi celebrates the winner for Liverpool...There were no horrors in store for Liverpool yesterday
after their Halloween clash with Bolton Wanderers ended in a 1-0 win. The victory takes the Reds up
into 12th and finally out of the relegation zone. Perhaps not a perfect performance and it did
begin to get worrying as we got closer to the 90minute mark but refreshingly, the lads didn't give
up and
For the first sixty minutes or so it seemed a familiar story, a return to the pre-Blackburn
misery of an uninspired Liverpool playing deep and passive football without a single glimmer of
hope to suggest they could achieve anything through their own merits. Carragher hoofed, Poulsen was
shockingly bad, N'Gog was bereft of service, and half the side was playing out of their natural
positions.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has said the next two games will determine whether they are moving in
the right direction.
The Reds have beaten Blackburn, Bolton and Chelsea and now sit ninth in the Premier League, facing
two away trips - to Wigan and Stoke - in just three days.
"If we can do well in the next two games we'll continue to look up," Hodgson told the club's
official website.
Nicklas Bendtner has been included in Denmark's international selection for the first time since
the World Cup in the summer. Morten Olsen's select will face The Czech's in an interesting friendly
next Wednesday.
Bendtner missed a couple of European Qualifiers due to the ongoing groin problem but it has now
cleared, and he has been in action for The Gunners for a fortnight now scoring twice so far,
against Manchester City & Newcastle Utd respectively.
Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson admits summer signing Christian Poulsen is 'devastated' by the poor
start he has made to his Anfield career
The Danish international has conceded he has yet to show his best form since his summer arrival
from Juventus as he is still adapting to life in England.
Poulsen was withdrawn to ironic jeers against Napoli in the Europa League at Anfield last week
while his late introduction for Dirk Kuyt during Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Wigan was booed by some
Liverpool fans.
Christian Poulsen could be set to end his Anfield nightmare by leaving Liverpool for former club
Sevilla, according to reports.
Goal.com Spain comments that the Dane is unsettled at Merseyside and craves a move away from the
Reds, with los Nervionenses emerging as front-runners to secure his signature.
