We've covered the top seniors that will be available to D.C. United with the #1 pick in January's SuperDraft. Now let's start looking at the underclassmen who could sign with MLS this winter. The first name on my list: Christian Dean.

It seems to be the conventional wisdom that this year's draft class - kind of like last year's - is not really an exceptionally deep crop like we saw in the 2011 draft that saw Perry Kitchen go #3 and CJ Sapong go tenth overall.

While the allocation money that it generates will be minimal at best, the move does save United almost $300,000 in salary cap charges and makes the reasoning behind Wednesday's selection of Nana Attakora more clear.
