The Cordell Cato v Mrisho Ngassa "battle" may not exist at all. Word out of Mrisho Ngassa's Tanzanian club (Azam FC) is that they will release him to Seattle Sounders FC on a free. After purchasing him for a national record 40 thousand dollars this would be a huge move for a club in a relatively poor footballing region.

Depending on how you chose to interpret Henderson's comments and some recent developments, the Sounders are either very close to a finished product or merely just starting to round into shape.

Continuing with the statistical updating that I've been doing, here's another new stat that I hadn't previously done. Here are the top 10 single season minutes for players throughout the team's history. As I mentioned a few times late in the year this year, Matt Besler ended up tied for the 3rd most minutes played in league play in team history.

With today's list of players available in the Re-Entry Draft it is important to note the differences between the two stages. In Stage One a player would be pickup up at their current option value, or a "Bona Fide Offer." Now, not all players on today's list will be available in Monday's draft (Seattle holds pick 14).

When the NCAA Men's D1 bracket was announced there was a somewhat surprising team left out of the tournament. Despite a 12-4-2 record, winning 7 of their last 8 and being 18th in the Coaches Poll the University of Washington Huskies season did not continue. First year head coach Jamie Clark did see six Huskies make all-PAC12 honors.

Via Needs More Kittens, MLS decided that its annual MLS Cup arrival photo-op should include a couple of scantily clad women at the side of the cup.

I'm a little confused as to why the women are even there. Because when they did the MLS Cup arrival photo op in Seattle two years ago, it was just myself, Chris Henderson, and some politician.

Teal Bunbury dominated Sunday after stats this week.
Teal Bunbury became the all time leading scorer vs Houston with his 2 goals. He now has 3 all time vs the Dynamo.
Bunbury's first goal was the 50th of the season in all competitions for KC, it's the first time they've hit 50 goals in a season since 2005.

It's been a slow weekend in MLS with most of the league, including the Seattle Sounders, on break. In Sounders news there's a new interview with Chris Henderson on the Sounders website that covers the state of the team as it nears the playoffs. There's also some video highlights from James Riley's successful 7-a-side tournament.

Last night the Rapids tried out a new lineup but got similar results to what they've been seeing. Giving Cummings some continued rest Folan was put up front with Nyassi as a withdrawn striker underneath him. Early on it paid off, as Kimura launched Mastroeni(?!?!) down the right sideline and Pablo whipped in a perfect cross that Folan headed into the upper corner for the lead.
