There is no getting away from the fact that Wayne Rooney is a very talented player. Regarded as
one of the finest footballers of his generation, the way which he moves on the pitch is the mark of
a genius. That is until he gets into trouble and that has happened quite a bit lately.
Rooney's career goes from the sublime to the ridiculous.
Here's part #2. Again, the cast is: Rob is Rob Griffin; Rich is Rich; Jamie is JamieR; Dave is
Chopper; Tim is me; Don is HatterDon; Nick is Nick Johnson; Colin is Colin Baker.
Enjoy.
After being just a point off bottom on New Year's Day, what do you think happened in the
locker room or training field that saw our fortunes change in 2011?
As Chali 2na would say, "Bay.......AAAAAREA!"
If you're by the most golden of gates this Saturday, stop into Danny Coyles on Haight Street to
catch a showing of "Rise & Shine: The Jay DeMerit Story."
The good crew behind the production is looking to make it into a full-fledged movie release and
is oh-so-close to doing it.
Last night in the great hall at Chelsea, Our end of season awards night took place and five awards
were handed out.
First was goal of the season and the award went to
Ramires for his goal against Man
City:
Second was the award for young player of the year and the award went to Josh McEachran.
A man is who is facial hair is.... (Rollie Fingers, 1985)
A lot of press around the Jay DeMerit story and rightfully so. It's a beautiful tale as a
Wisconsin soccer god and good guy grabs his knapsack and heads to Europe in search of a "football"
career on the very island that birthed the game.
Excellent Top Five at Chopper's blog this week. I love this kind of stuff.
Chelsea Legend Chopper Harris is featured in The Sun this morning stating that he believes that
Chelsea will beat Manchester United this weekend and the pressure is all on United.
He said:
"The pressure's on Manchester United. I've seen some of their games on TV and they
don't seem to be playing remarkably well.
Yes, indeed, England's Brave John Terry celebrated his 500th Chelsea appearance on Saturday
against Tottenham.
The Captain is only the fifth player to reach the 500-game landmark for the Blues: alongside
legends Peter Bonetti, Chopper Harris, John Hollins, and the vice-captain, Frank Lampard.
When John Terry took to the pitch on back on Saturday against Tottenham, he made his 500th
appearance for Chelsea and joined the likes of Chopper Harris, Peter Bonetti, John Hollins and
Frank Lampard in reaching that milestone.
He said:
I'm very proud actually. Looking back on it, when I was 17 or 18, when I was on 30-odd
games: I never predicted I'd be where I was today.
Inspired by Chopper's venture into listmaking...
Number 5: four minutes on the clock at Stamford Bridge, Murphy sends Nevland clear, and
Nevland did what Nevland did so well, and we're a goal up. It didn't last (for Fulham or Nevland
himself: Chelsea got 3; Nevland went off injured) but for a moment there.
Eeesh. Well, feel free to chip in with your own match
reports- I didn't watch it. By the time I'd finished waggling a fork in the dodgy-box in search of
a decent picture we were three goals to the bad and plummeting quicker than a bag of hammers. And
by that point, I'm sorry to say, I'd rather lost my appetite.
That felt...awesome.
When we got the draw a few weeks ago, I thought our Cup run was over before it began. We hadn't
beaten Spurs in the Cup since Queen Elizabeth, or something around then. Harry Redknapp actually
takes this competition seriously, and the match date wasn't close enough to Spurs' Champions League
duties that we could catch them distracted.
Chopper Harris the Chelsea Legend has spoken of Josh McEachran and believes out of the current crop
of youngsters coming through, he is the best of the bunch and has spoken of a bright future for
Chelsea.
He said:
"Josh is one of the brightest prospects I've seen for quite some time, Provided he
keeps his feet on the ground I think he's got a fantastic future with Chelsea.
