Confused by two Persijas in two different leagues?
In many ways they were the team that propelled Thai football into the national consciousness.
Chonburi maybe were the first to develop a local identity, to build a team that people could
recognize as being their very own after an era when club sides like BEC Tero Sasana and Thai
Farmers; Bank may have won kudos overseas for their Asian Cup exploits but struggled locally to
make much of an impact.

Arema v PSMS 2-1 (Noh Alam Shah, TA Mushafri; Julio Cesaer Alscorse) 13,000
Officials boasting that 13,000 fans attended this game but last year there would likely have been
double that crowd. The Arema team in the IPL is the same as the team that competed in the ISL last
year, they just have different, more IPL-friendly, owners than the other ISL Arema.
Vietnam is having another one of its little tournaments. The Navibank Cup 2011 is due to be held in
Ho Chi Minh City 2-10 December and, according to Viet Football, will feature Geylang United and
Chonburi as well as T&T Hanoi, Navibank Saigon and Binh Duong.
Which is all well and good. But according to the Thai Premier League fixture list, admittedly as
reliable as an English red top, Chonburi are playing Army United on 3 December.

Thai Premier League Co chairmain Vichit Yamboonruang said yesterday it was good that the Asian
Football Confederation found that most TPL clubs have inadequate stadiums and facilities.
AFC representatives last week inspected TLP teams' stadiums and found that only four met the
Asian football governing body's requirements.
Hardly rolls off the tongue does it?
Anyways, today sees Siam Navy host Chonburi and the visitors won't be short of support with Sri
Racha Shark saying they will have up to 8,000 fans making the short journey.
More on this game and things Chonburi can be found here.
Bad news for Chonburi and South China.
Persipura have been given the go ahead to use their Mandala Stadium in Jayapura for their remaining
AFC Cup games.
There are no direct flights to Jayapura (DJJ) on Garuda, the only airline I would consider for such
a trek. You get to transit at places like Denpaser, Timika or Makassar depending on the flight.
Persipura's Manadala Stadium, in Jayapura, Papua, is being assessed today by bods from the Asian
Football Confederation. If they deem it suitable then Persipura can use the stadium for their two
remaining AFC Cup games against Chonburi and South China.
Apparently the big screen wasn't ready and there were issues with the media area as of yesterday.
