MLS refutes reports of looming Chivas USA sale as rumors swirl

Major League Soccer released a statement on Friday about the ongoing rumors surrounding Chivas USA and their current owners.

Recent reports in Mexico have stated that Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim is interested in purchasing the entire Chivas franchise, which would include Chivas USA.

Well the league has been keeping tabs on blogs and social media today. They've released a statement regarding Chivas USA and it is a doozy.

"Major League Soccer is aware of recent media speculation concerning Chivas USA," read a statement from the league issued on Friday. "Such speculation is completely unfounded and untrue.

Walker Zimmerman made his first appearance for FC Dallas Saturday, 113 days after being selected in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft. The Furman product came on as a late sub in the club's 2-1 victory over DC United.

The centerback had sustained a groin injury in the preseason and his recovery had taken longer than originally expected.

The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee was busy this week handing out suspensions to four different players around the league.

The Committee announced on Wednesday one-match suspensions to Chivas USA defender Mario de Luna, Vancouver Whitecaps defender Johnny Leveron, Colorado Rapids forward Edson Buddle, and Real Salt Lake defender Kwame Watson-Siriboe.
