Former Philadelphia Union midfielder Michael Lahoud wins the NASL Humanitarian Award

Michael Lahoud came to the Philadelphia Union in 2012 in part of the Danny Califf trade with Chivas USA, and would stay with the team until 2016 when he was loaned to the New York Cosmos in NASL. The loan was cut short and he was rumored to be coming back to the first team, only to find that he was being transferred to another NASL side, Miami FC.

It’s hard to forget Chivas USA

By Luis Bueno – RIVERSIDE, CA (Apr 19, 2017) US Soccer Players - When Dan Kennedy retired last week, a link between MLS and Chivas USA's history died. After all, nobody embodied the defunct club more than Kennedy.

Earlier this decade, Kennedy was one of the top goalkeepers in the league. When the lights shut off on the failure that was Chivas USA, it was Kennedy who could say that no one else did as much as he had done for that club.

And with that, the process with the best prospects in the academy will continue.

With the dissolution of Chivas USA last year, MLS decided to sustain its academy until the end of this season. At which point, it too would cease to exist.

Of course all of these players would have found homes in other clubs.

Staying compact and connected will be vital for United as they take on OCSC tonight.

Most MLS expansion teams have gone in one of three directions. You have your teams made of adequate but flawed MLS retreads who play a very run-of-the-mill game, your teams that arrive with arrogance and get obliterated (this is basically just Chivas USA), and your teams that start very young with the knowledge that they'll take their lumps in the first year but benefit in the seasons that follow.

Lost amid the high profile signings of multiple European stars, the LA Galaxy quietly added the veteran goalkeeper to their roster this offseason. Kennedy spent seven seasons between the pipes at the StubHub Center, walked it's subterranean halls, practiced on it's extensive pitches.

Colorado selected eighth.
