This is going to be a rant. For the past fortnight, I've been entirely unsurprised about the lack
of coverage the women's World Cup has had in the UK. Yes, yes, the Beeb are showing England's
games, and Eurosport are showing a fair number of the rest, but as far as the print media are
concerned it may as well not be happening. Those gentlemen of the press - and it IS gentlemen more
often than not - who do deign to watch it come out with comments like Barney Ronay's from
Saturday's Guardian.
