There were some crucial matches on Sunday in the top European leagues such as Manchester United
v Manchester City in the English Premier League. All the top leagues were in play including the
Italian Serie A, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga, French Ligue 1, and of course the English
Premier League.
The Serie A Game to Watch this week features the only matchup of two teams in the top four in
the standings. Although it is only the third week of the season (sorry Sampdoria fans), both
Lazio and Juventus are eyeing a possible scudetto and this match could keep one club's
early momentum going.
At the end of last season news filtered out of Italy the Serie A was following the lead of the
English Premier League by voting to split away from Serie B. This move was officially approved
today and Serie A will now operate as its own separate entity, no longer having to share revenue

The Italian Serie A began its 2009-10 season this weekend with a full set of matches. Defending
Serie A champions Internazionale opened their season at the San Siro against Bari, Juventus plays
Chievo Verona and six other matches. Here's a recap of all the matches from Sunday along with video

Chievo have stepped up the competition in the fight to acquire the status as number one goalkeeper
