commissioner.
July 21, 1979 - Forward Steve Wegerle (left) contributed his 17th assist of the season to break
Rodney Marsh's Rowdies record for most assists in a single season. Marsh oddly enough, had two
assists in the match as well. Wegerle's efforts spurred Tampa Bay on to win 2-1 over the Chicago
Sting at Soldier Field in front of 11,509.
Sting's 25th anniversary to be celebrated at Fire game
The Chicago Fire announced that the organization will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the
Chicago Sting's North American Soccer League title.
There will be a halftime ceremony and an autograph session before the Fire's match against Toronto
FC on Saturday (7:30 p.
