Ante Cop's winner: The reaction says it all.I'm prone to doing things at the last minute like
anyone else. But the Chicago Riot's birth into the Major Indoor Soccer League was taking it a bit
far.
Starting a professional soccer team in a matter of weeks? Talk about a challenge! But the word
"impossible" never crossed my mind as I knew we had the right people running the ship.
There were no iffy calls, no phantom blue cards (there weren't any today), there weren't numerous
instances of the Comets being up with 5 on 3 power plays. In the end all the conspiracy theories of
the MISL wanting the Comets into the playoffs over the Omaha Vipers and Chicago Riot didn't come
true.
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- The Chicago Riot fell to the third-place Missouri Comets, 18-12, on Sunday to
wrap up its inaugural Major Indoor Soccer League season at the Independence Events Center.
In a losing effort, Riot scoring leader Bato Radoncic tallied three goals and an assist, and
goalkeeper Jeff Richey made 20 saves to surpass 900 for his career.
Comets' final home regular season game is today at 3:10 against the Chicago Riot. A win and
Missouri puts themselves into a decent position for the final playoff spot. Here's your play by

Comets vs Riot Home Finale
BALTIMORE, Md. -- For the second time this season, the Chicago Riot's Ante Cop scored a
game-winning goal against the Baltimore Blast as Chicago earned an 11-9 overtime victory Friday in
Major Indoor Soccer League action at 1st Mariner Arena.
The Riot (5-14) ended a four-game losing streak and became the only team in the league to defeat
Baltimore (14-4) twice this season.
The Comets did a lot to help their playoff hopes last night in Chicago as they won their second
game in as many nights 23-7 over the Chicago Riot. The win was the Comets biggest win of the
season, by a total of 16 points. In the Comets previous 6 wins they'd won those games by a combined
16 points.
Byron Alvarez celebrates a goal with fansThe Comets added a rare win at home when they made a
comeback in the fourth quarter. The first half was low scoring with the only scoring was both teams
getting 2 point goals in the first quarter. The second half was a little more action packed with
five goals and twelve cards issued with Chicago drawing all but two of those cards.
Home hadn't been kind to the Comets during their return season at the Independence Events Center
this year. Too many times, the Comets took leads into the fourth quarter, only to see the lead
disappear, ending in heartache for the team and their fans. This time around it was the Comets'
turn, trailing the Chicago Riot 7-2 with 9 ½ minutes to play, making the improbable comeback to
win 9-7 Sunday afternoon at the IEC.
From the Comets.
As has been the case all year long for the Comets, the team could not hold onto a 4th quarter lead,
and lost on the road to the Riot Sunday night at the Odeum in Chicago, 16-12.
Chicago started the scoring at the 6:20 mark in the 1st period on a goal by Bato Radoncic.
For those who would like to revisit Chicago's long and distinguished soccer history the Chicago
Riot are conducting Chicago Soccer Heritage Night this coming Sunday at the Odeum in Villa Park.
The list of local soccer luminaries is one of the most impressive I can recall, managing to gather
members of the Fire, Sting, Power, Mustangs, Shoccers, Horizons, Red Stars, Cats, Vultures,
Stingers, and Storm all under one roof.
The Chicago Riot (2-6) faces the Milwaukee Wave (7-3) at 6 p.m. Saturday at the U.S. Cellular
Arena. Chicago hopes to build off the momentum following a thrilling, come-from-behind victory over
the Baltimore Blast, 14-12, last Sunday.

their first home victory of the season.
It took overtime, but the Missouri Comets picked up their first home win of the season tonight as
they beat the Chicago Riot 11-9 in overtime. Things started extremely bright for the Comets, as
just 39 seconds into the game they found themselves up 2-0. Vahid Assadpour found Byron Alvarez
