Chicago managed to escape a flurry of missed chances by a New England Revolution side that had yet to lose a game at home to keep pace with Toronto FC at the top of the Eastern Conference and MLS overall. The victory brings the Fire record to 9-3-4 on the season and they have equalled their point total (31) from all of 2016.

If you were to really ask who the true New England Revolution rival is, the Chicago Fire will be on the list, perhaps still at the top for many.

Multiple playoff series from the 2000s combined with both teams being perennial powers in the East and MLS made it easy for these two teams and their fanbases to dislike each other.

So. The Boston Breakers are sitting at eighth in the league with a 2-4-2 record. Their last five games are all losses or draws after what seemed like a pretty bright start to the season. They've shown that they can score in games; what they need now is to show they can hold on to a lead and not cough up equalizers or winning goals.

No matter the sport, the good teams manage to still win when they're not at their best. The Fire did just that in a 2-0 win at home against an Atlanta United side that routed them 4-0 back in March. Chicago wasn't quite hitting on all cylinders and wasted several good chances but did just enough to pick up their eighth win of the season.

The Fire wasted an opportunity to pick up three points on the road against a direct Eastern Conference playoff rival. Thanks to a questionable straight red card shown to Rafael Ramos in the 26th minute and another straight red to Antonio Nocerino in the 66th, Chicago played with an advantage for much of the game but couldn't capitalize or break down Orlando's packed-in defense.
