I'm know I'm late to the party with this one, but whatever. It needs to be seen.
Highlights via Esk Weston of the reserves' impressive 4-0 win over Arsenal. A brace from
Nathaniel Chalobah to go with goals from Romelu Lukaku and Lucas Piazon equals a highly
entertaining evening. If you haven't already seen it, enjoy.
The Sun reported Saturday that Nicolas Anelka and Alex have been banished from first-team
training by Andre Villas-Boas and are now training with the Chelsea reserves. Anelka fell out of
favour with AVB after missing a couple of great chances in the loss to QPR while Alex has been on
the fringes of the Chelsea squad all season.
Catching up on all the tidbits you might have missed during the week that was. More, after the
jump:
Back in action
First, Jack wrote a brilliant piece on the return of one Sam Hutchinson this morning which
deserves recognition. So, before going any further, read here.
This world is riddled with boring cliches pertaining to the human spirit. Phrases such as don't
give up and never back down. Ridiculous drivel seemingly custom-made for the cinemas.
The path of Sam Hutchinson is ready for the big screen as well only thing is it's a true
story.
Warrior
Hutchinson, amazingly, signed a new one and a half year contract with Chelsea on Thursday.
Other things:
Mark Schwarzer seems to be back to something like top form very impressed
Nice how Stephen Kelly has won people over another good game from him. It's a shame about
Zdenek Grygera though. He's looked a fine defender and this doesn't look like a minor injury, so
our thoughts are with him.

The ‘next big thing' is no more than a marketing term at Chelsea for a product that, more often
than not, fails to live up to its early promise. You may argue that Chelsea would be nothing
without John Terry breaking through their youth ranks, but essentially he is the only player to do
so [...] Related posts:

After the jump, you'll find some movie pictures from a couple of youth matches over the past
week or so. Thanks, as always, to EskWeston for the contributions. This guy does fantastic work so
be sure to subscribe to his YouTube page and follow him on Twitter.

Black 5-3 Blue
14 September
This was a game featuring mixed teams of Under-18s and reserve players.
The reserves literally just wrapped a 1-1 draw with Blackburn at Stamford Bridge. Somewhat
unlucky, too. It was a solid performance from the guys, Mellis with the goal. Anyway.
At halftime, sporting director Michael Emenalo spoke to ChelseaTV. He offered some good insight
into what to expect from some of our high-profile youth players that are currently on the fringes
of the first team.
The Bundesliga is back in its 49th incarnation and Friday's curtain raiser was both wonderful
and frightening frightening at least for Bayern, Leverkusen and who else might have had vague hopes
to win the league next year.
Dortmund 3-1 Helpless SV. Defending champions Dortmund kicked off the new
season in style and with a promise of beautiful football, only they seem to be able to deliver this
season.
If you take the press at their dubious word, then Ron Gourlay claims we're to add two additional
pieces to the mix in the next fortnight. Some are suggesting these signings are Courtois and Romeu-
while others are speculating there are in fact two other players on the horizon. Personally, I'm
thinking this is more likely the former rather than the latter.
It seems that after years of purchasing aging talent we may at last be buying from the Fountain
of Youth. Hit the jump for more.
Baby Diddy Sauce.
Let's just address the elephant in the room right now before I go any further. Yes, we spent 50
million pounds on Fernando Torres.
There you have it folks, our first official signing of the summer window comes just as the lads
begin preseason preparations in Malaysia. More on Mr. Thibs after the jump:
What he said.
To be frank, and not Jim (ha) this one came out of left field. I don't believe many of us in
fandom had any inkling we were in the market for a keeper- let alone a young prospect that could
likely start for many major squads in most countries.
I thought that Peter Kenyon said some stupid things when he was at Chelsea, but the comments by
Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay surpass anything that Kenyon ever said.
Gourlay was in Asia ahead of Chelsea's tour there this summer and was asked about Chelsea firing
Carlo Ancelotti one year after he won the double.
Officially out the door this summer. More after the jump.
Free at last.
I'm not going to sugar coat this. Losing Borini is a blow. You may not think it at first glance-
he hardly had any first-team appearances during his Chelsea career- but he was a lightning-rod of
productivity for the reserves.
The trophy cabinet at Stamford Bridge will not be entirely empty this season the reserve team,
after collecting their Reserve South division medals last week, are now the national champions!
Final score: Chelsea 1 1 Blackburn (5-4 on penalties).
Blackburn Rovers were our opponents, having beaten Manchester United in another playoff to be
crowned Reserve North champions.
Fabio Borini, fresh from joining Brendan Rogers at Swansea on loan until the end of the season has
spoken of the move and his future. It comes as no surprise that he has found it difficult at
Chelsea to break into the first team so is keen on taking his chance at Swansea.
He said:
Brendan was the key to my move, He was my old manager in Chelsea reserves and he asked
me if I was interested to move to Swansea for the last nine games of the season to help the team
get promoted to the Premier League.
Our young Italian striker returned after over two months out with a shoulder injury and
celebrated being back on the pitch with a hat-trick in our reserves' 4-3 win over West Ham this
week.
Borini scored his hat-trick, including a penalty, in 62 minutes before being replaced by Adam
Phillip.
Still like Salomon and Nic over this young lad, Carlo?
Yeah, you probably do. Dammit.
