All we wanted last night for it to be about the football. And, for 120 minutes it was. Chelsea v Manchester United was a wonderful spectacle. There were goals, penalties and no refereeing controversies. And then this happens. Photographs this morning surfaced of a Chelsea fan making monkey actions towards Ashley Young.
Ducky's Note: Krish Prashanth is a Chelsea fan and a student of
engineering, fast becoming a regular in the Blue Corner of this blog. In his last post, he looked
back at Chelsea's improbable Champions League victory. Here he provides his perspective on what
seems to be a never-ending sub-plot to football these days racism.

Maddy's Note: A guest post from the Blue Corner of this blog.
Let me start this post with a challenge. Go and ask any Chelsea fan about the most memorable
night in his life. He will mention the 19th of May ahead of even the night when you know, well you
get the point!
This Chelsea fan appeared to be well-oiled ahead of kick-off in the FA Cup final. She slurred her
way through the traditional rendition of Abide With Me, aided by her bottle of Smirnoff Ice.
Are you the biggest Chelsea fan around? Send us a photo to prove it and you could win two seats on the team bus for a UEFA Champions League tie. Go all in here http://a.did.as/XPcfxm
Sir Alex Ferguson has had his say (as he does on most things) about Chelsea overnight and has
already tried to put pressure on us for this season. Fergie, like most football fans will know,
Chelsea had been fighting to win the Champions League ever since Roman Abramovich took over as
owner and now we have won it, Fergie believes there will be even more pressure at Stamford Bridge.
Last night Spain won Euro 2012 with a stunning display of football against Italy eventually winning
4-0.
Now as a Chelsea fan, I was itching for Fernando Torres and Juan Mata especially, to get on and
have some involvement in the game.
Torres came on for the final 15 minutes or so, with Italy down to ten men after making all their
substitutions and losing one of them, Tiago Motta to injury.
Ever since Chelsea won the Champions League, I have been buzzing and still watch Didier Drogba's
header and winning penalty virtually every day as I still can't quite believe that after eight
years of this team trying, they finally won it.
However, one thing has become very clear to me in recent weeks and that's the resentment of Chelsea
from other supporters.
"Didier Drogba delivered a long and passionate eulogy to the European Cup as Chelsea finally
secured their holy grail."The Sun, 21 May 2012
There are some matches that end up seeming primarily the vehicle for one person to somehow
attain mythical status. The Champions League final between Chelsea and Bayern was written, it seems
now, purely to allow Didier Drogba a form of poetic catharsis worthy of fiction or film.
Ducky's Note: Swaraj Bhat, a Chelsea fan (yes, that species we never see
out here on BFZ) sends in a Champions League final preview from a Chelsea FC fan's perspective. In
the nick of time.
In the end, it all comes down to this. This is it, the Champions League final.
Remember Il Pulpo Paul? The mystic octopus who was denounced by Iranian
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and then secretly assassinated by the CIA after 'predicting' a stack
of results at the 2010 World Cup? Remember? Paul? Okay? Well now forget him, because there's a new
psychic animal in town a llama from Ashdown Forest Llama Park in east Sussex (of course he's going
to be a Chelsea fan).
Every single Chelsea fan on the planet took in a deep breath as we heard that David Luiz and Gary
Cahill would take part in a full Chelsea training session yesterday, hoping that they would come
through it unscathed.
Luckily for us (touch wood, fingers crossed and all that), they did and both look to be able to
start in Munich.
I was reading some comments made by German Legend and Bayern Munich President Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
after Bayern beat Real Madrid and sealed their place in the Champions League final. Now, at the
time I never paid too much attention to what he said, but after hearing different things and
reading different things on the net, I AM beginning to wonder.

Didier Drogba without question has been outstanding over the last couple of months and last
Saturday, scored his fourth goal in as many FA CUP finals which is a new record in the
competition.
Speaking after the game, John Terry has spoken of the big man and have pleaded with the club to
sort out a new deal for Drogba.
You remember our run in with Sachin Nakrani a few months ago. He posted that well known picture
from years ago of a Chelsea fan doing the Nazi salute with his daughter in his arms and claimed
that it was from Chelsea's FA Cup semi-final game against Spurs that day. Nakrani is a Liverpool
fan and obviously had taken offence to Chelsea fans singing "murderers" during the minute's silence
for Hillsborough, and fair enough.
I don't know for sure, but I would hazard a guess that Emmanuel Frimpong does not have a
detailed knowledge of the Second World War.
He might have seen a movie or two and he has probably heard of the Nazis, Hitler and the
Holocaust without ever achieving any depth of insight or understanding.

Before I write my match report from tonight's win against Reading, I want to hand this post over to
you the Chelsea fan reading this where ever you are in the world.
So just answer me one simple question:
What did YOU think about everything to do with the game tonight?
Ok people here we go, the new season is nearly upon us and we need a good start. The players will
be back from their travels and RDM and Eddie Newton will be putting the finishing touches to our
preparation as we begin our assault on the Premier League for another season.
Pre season hasn't been good but that is in the past and we HAVE TO focus on the future starting
with our trip to the DW Stadium to take on Roberto Martinez's Wigan side.
One article has ripped into Chelsea after our performance against City. Here below are some
short extracts from that article so have a read:
The truth is that Chelsea look as if they could do with the start of the season being
delayed by a couple of weeks.
(Source)
While there is time for Chelsea to get used to life after Didier Drogba, it is
clear that significant issues have to be overcome in the next few weeks.
Pre season has been disappointing to say the least. The performance at Brighton at the
weekend was a disaster and although it's far to early to be judging people, it was still an eye
opener.
With Juan Mata and Oriol Romeu back in training today, things will really take shape this week as
RDM prepares the side to take on Manchester City at Villa Park in the season's curtain
raiser.
Ever since Ron Gourlay was quoted after Chelsea returned from their pre season tour of America, the
press as usual, have gone into overdrive.
Chelsea, ever since Roman Abramovich took over, have been linked with all sorts of players in every
single transfer window and it's pretty much become the "norm".
I have written a post that went out a few hours ago stating that last night was the kick up the
arse that Chelsea needed ahead of two big cup finals coming up because being honest, and I am
sure I am not the only Chelsea fan in doing so, I got a little bit ahead of myself with our recent
success in big games.
Why are Chelsea continuing their interest in Edinson Cavani and are pushing through a deal for the
player for around £35m according to reports this morning?
I posted last week about his "apparent" wage demands of £150k per week on top of the
transfer fee and if you ask me he isn't worth paying that sort of money for a fee let alone wages!
As a Chelsea fan wherever you are in the world, you will know that there are plenty of Chelsea
sites and blogs out there to choose from but did you know there are only a few 100% independent
blogs?
Now I am not backed by anyone, I am not part of a sports network of blogs and I do not have a team
of people that take part and write this website.
Tonight the "best" of Major League Soccer will square off against UEFA Champions Chelsea FC in
the 2012 edition of the MLS All Star game. Since 2002 (exception 2004) to the present day the MLS
All Star Game has featured the league's best against a big name club. It started with the 2002
USMNT, a great chance to capitalize off the success of the 2002 teams World Cup run and since has
featured a foreign club from the top leagues in Mexico, Scotland and England.
In his Press conference in Seattle ahead of tonight's game, RDM was asked about Florent Malouda and
he said:
"I still haven't had a chance to speak to Florent, so I need to speak to him first and
see what his intentions are, then we will see what the best interests are for him and the
club.
This is it. Chelsea play Bayern Munich at Bayern's home stadium -- the Allianz Arena -- in the
2012 Champions League final. Both sides are looking to make up for recent failures in this match.
Chelsea lost the rain-soaked 2008 final to Manchester United after captain John Terry slipped and
missed what should have been the winning shot in an excruciating penalty shootout, while Bayern
lost the 2010 final to Jose Mourinho's treble-winning Inter.
