No Brough move & Elding goes back to Kettering

FC Boro 03 November @ 02:31 PM EST

Stevenage have ended their interest in Michael Brough, for now. Graham Westley told the Comet that the two clubs have failed to agree a new loan deal and that any deal is a long way off. Westley stated that he wanted to keep the multi-functional player, but with the clubs not being able to agree a deal, the Boro boss may have to look elsewhere for enforcements to his squad.

Boro through to face Vale in Cup

FC Boro 27 October @ 03:10 PM EST

Boro made hard work of it, but made it through safely to the 1st round proper of the FA Cup after beating Chelmsford City at Melbourne Park. Graham Westley named a strong side, knowing that the Blue Square South side would be no pushovers. Eddie Odhiambo came back into the side on the left wing while Yemi Odubade once again partnered the in form Charlie Griffin upfront.

Chelmsford Preview

FC Boro 23 October @ 08:45 AM EST

Boro have a break from league action this Saturday as the FA Cup campaign starts against Chelmsford City. It was only a few months ago that Boro faced Chelmsford in a pre-season friendly where Charlie Griffin and Chris Beardsley both scored Boro won by 2-1.

Chelmsford find themselves in 11th place in Conference South despite winning 3 of their last 5 league games.

Southend United 09/10 Season Preview

Longpier 07 August @ 06:00 AM EST
So it all gets underway again for another season on Saturday when Southend United take on Huddersfield in the League One opener at Roots Hall.
For the average Blues fan, the summer has been frustrating to say the least. Just after last season's campaign finished, chairman Ron Martin said the Blues would be aiming to make quicker signings, giving new players the time to bed-in before the 09/10 season started. Click to continue reading...

Pre-Season 2009: Reviewed

FC Boro 03 August @ 02:34 PM EST

A 0-0 draw away at Woking on Saturday afternoon signalled the end of Boro's pre-season campaign for 2009. Graham Westley's side played 7 games, winning 3, drawing 2 and losing 2. This year's campaign has been a lot different to previous pre-season's at Broadhall Way with the team being much more settled and no trialists featuring at all.

Vincenti signs for Woking

FC Boro 30 July @ 02:55 PM EST

Peter Vincenti has left the club to join Woking. The Cards have confirmed that the Jersey born midfielder/striker will join the Blue Square South club on a three month loan deal. It makes sense for all parties involved really. Although Westley gave Vincenti a new contract at the beginning of the summer, the former Millwall player doesn't look likely to be in the first team plans at Broadhall Way.

Boro held at Cambridge while Vincenti plays for Woking?

FC Boro 22 July @ 01:16 PM EST

Cambridge City denied Boro their 3rd straight pre-season victory with a 1-1 draw at Milton Road. After an impressive win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, Stevenage were held to a battling draw by the Southern League side. Boro boss Graham Westley opted to start with a weakened 11, with the likes of Ashley Bayes, Eddie Odhiambo and Mark Albrighton playing the full 90 minutes, while reserve players Jerome Anderson and Chris Doyle made appearances too.

Boro beat Brighton plus preview of Cambridge City game

FC Boro 20 July @ 01:52 PM EST

Stevenage continued their impressive start to pre-season with a 2-1 victory over Brighton. I didn't get to the game, but after reading the reports on the forum and Comet it sounds like it was a well deserved win over the League 1 opposition. Even some Brighton players, media and fans on their message board have stated that Boro were well worth the victory and the team looked good enough to be a league side.

Brighton Preview

FC Boro 17 July @ 06:29 PM EST

Tomorrow sees the return of football to Broadhall Way as Brighton come to town in the second friendly of the season. It should prove to be a good test for Boro, who began their pre season preparations with a solid win away at Chelmsford on Wednesday night. It will be the first opportunity for many to see the likes of Yemi Odubade, Stacy Long, Joel Byrom, Chris Beardsley and Charlie Griffin in a Boro shirt and it could be the new shirt that they play in tomorrow afternoon.

Brighton Preview

FC Boro 17 July @ 05:01 PM EST

Tomorrow sees a return to Broadhall Way for Boro as they continue their pre-season preparations against League 1 side Brighton & Hove Albion. The Seagulls are now managed by former Scarborough and Yeovil manager Russell Slade and will provide a stern test for the team. Boro kicked off their pre-season mid-week with a hard earned victory away at Chelmsford and now face a team who will be looking to improve on their lowly position in League 1 last season.

Boro begin pre-season with a win

FC Boro 15 July @ 06:18 PM EST

Chelmsford City 1-2 Stevenage Borough
15th July 2009
Melbourne Park

It wasn't pretty, but it was never going to be in Chelmsford this evening as Stevenage kicked off their pre-season campaign. It was an unfamiliar looking Boro side who started the game in black training shirts before reverting to the old white home shirt for the second half.

Chelmsford Preview

FC Boro 13 July @ 02:51 PM EST

Stevenage travel to Essex on Wednesday night to face Chelmsford City in their first pre-season game of the new campaign, a year after beating Mark Stimson's Gillingham at Priestfield. It will be a good test for the players to face a team who weren't far away from winning promotion to the Blue Square Premier last time around and of course it's the first chance for the Boro fans making the trip to see the new summer signings in action in a Boro shirt.

BSP News plus Westley’s top 5

FC Boro 12 July @ 07:09 AM EST

Pre-Season starts in just 3 days time as Boro travel to Chemsford on Wednesday night. It's a less high profile start to pre-season after last years visit to Gillingham. The Stevenage players and staff have been back in training for about 2 weeks now and should be at a good fitness level going into the first game.

Boylan off?

FC Boro 18 May @ 01:10 PM EST

Not much Boro news about at the moment as everyone waits to see who is on the 'out' list at Broadhall Way. I assume the club will announce who won't be retained in the next week or so. It's expected that Callum Willock, Eddie Anaclet and John Martin were 3 of the 4 players that GW said would be released or transferred.

Kings Lynn, Braintree Town, Demotion & Chaos Theory

Twohundredpercent 22 April @ 04:52 PM EST

The town of Braintree sits near the border between Suffolk and Essex. It's a small town with a population of 42,000 which sits rather in the shadow of its larger neighbours Colchester and Chelmsford, with London looming in the distance, radiating its influence over the whole of the east and south east of England.

An open letter to David Triesman, Chairman of the FA

OK Football Finder 17 October @ 11:37 AM EST
I once sat on a dusty seat at the back of New Writtle Street Stadium in Chelmsford cradling a cold glass of lemonade thinking life couldn't get much sweeter. My dad had just opened up the ground for the first time that season and I'd just finished cleaning every one of the wooden seats in the main stand. Click to continue reading...

Essex are good bet for Twenty20

Longpier 07 July @ 05:09 PM EST
I don't usually watch cricket. I know the basics of course, but all this "silly man off", "third man" and "sqaure silly off" gets on my nerves. Anyhoo, trying to make the best of Sky Sports during the summer, I've been tuning into the thoroughly enjoyable Twenty20 games, and in the last couple of weeks they've been in Chelmsford to show the Essex Eagles.
