It has been over 40 days and 40 nights since we last did an overview of the Chicago Fire roster
going into 2012. In that time Mike Banner has been let go. Yamith Cuesta, Diego Chaves, and Josip
Mikulic have drifted away in circumstances that are still being sorted out. Rafael Robayo, Federico
Puppo, Austin Berry, and Kheli Dube have been brought in with contracts to their name.
With the excitement and craziness of the 2012 SuperDraft in the rearview, it's time for teams
around MLS to get down to business. Camp opens tomorrow and the Revolution still have plenty of
work to do. I figured that this frigid, lazy Sunday would be a good time to take a look at the
Revs' off-season thus far and outline some of the storylines moving forward.

We'll have updates of today's SuperDraft throughout the day as well as reaction to the Union's
selection. On to the news...
Philadelphia Union
Ives Galarcep's mock draft at Fox Soccer has this to say: "The Union are believed to be shopping
forward Danny Mwanga, and even with the recent addition of young Costa Rican forward Josue
Martinez, Philadelphia can use some depth up top.
finale.
John Melcher and Garrett Getschow each scored twice and the Air Force men's soccer team scored
three goals in the first seven-plus minutes as the Falcons won its fourth straight game with a 6-1
victory Sunday over Buffalo at Cadet Soccer Stadium.
The Falcons, off to their best start since 2001, improved to 5-1-o, while the Bulls fell to
4-3-1.

The Vancouver Whitecaps' two 2011 first-round draft picks connected for an early goal, leading
the club to a 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes in MLS Reserve League play on Tuesday.
Michael Nanchoff chipped over the defense toward Omar Salgado, who finished with a left-footed
shot from the top of the box in the 11th minute for the only tally of the match.
y Oman Biyik.
There is a clear favorite in CONCACAF Champions League Group D. And while it is true that the
Mexican side in every group is favored, the Seattle Sounders face last season's CCL Champions - CF
Monterrey Rayados. Last season saw the Sounders hold a 2-nil lead with a mainly reserve lineup, but
then Humberto Suazo entered the game and in 6 short minutes Seattle went from history makers to
just another footnote.

As with all seasons, we must learn to take the bad with the good. The downs with the ups. The
late losses with the late wi... ties.
The Freddy Adu signing with the Freddy Adu performance.
Union formation after 22nd minute
Philadelphia's StrategyPeter Nowak gave Freddy Adu the start even though he had only been with the club for one training
session. The Union started out in a 4-4-1-1 with Adu as the playmaker. In midfield was LeToux,
Paunovic, Carroll and Mapp, while McInerney began as the lone striker.
Daniel Robertson, of SB Nation's FC Dallas blog Big D Soccer, and I discussed tonight's
Dallas-Philadelphia Union game. We differed on score, player of the game and a lot of other things,
but we seemed to agree on Andrew Jacobson. Odd.
Big D: Going be an interesting match. If I remember right, Fabian Castillo absolutely murdered
the Union earlier this year in 'frisco.
FC Dallas' Setup: Dallas set up in a 4-5-1 with newly acquired Maicon Santos up top. Santos
was up against Gonzalez most of the night and just could not get by him in 1 on 1 situations. Vilar
and Guarda patrolled the middle behind Santos and in front of Hernandez, who played the holding
midfield spot.
DC United at FC Dallas: Dallas Heat Shows No Home Field AdvantageThe extreme heat and humidity in Saturday night's contest was extremely evident on the faces of the
players of both teams. FC Dallas was coming off a disappointing effort on the road at Real Salt
Lake that we profiled earlier this week.
New England's lack of offense hurt them once again this weekend as they lost their third
straight game by a one-goal margin. After 13 league games, the Revolution have scored 10 goals,
worse in the league. If you take out the 3 goals that the Revs scored against Sporting Kansas, they
have scored a total of 7 goals in 12 league games.

The Chicago Fire dominated the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps in every category except the
scoreline as the two teams battled to a scoreless draw at Toyota Park.
Chicago began the game with a flurry of chances that went begging.
As I was pondering the idea of writing a pre-match preview of the Whitecaps's match against FC
Dallas, a lone piece of reasoning slipped into my usually empty mind. This match against FC Dallas
was important, very important. While I was optimistically predicting a 3-1 victory for the
Whitecaps before the match, instead the ended 2-1 for FC Dallas.

On FC Dallas Right Back Jackson:
•Overwhelmingly active. Is he going to make it to halftime without being gassed? (5′)
•Seriously, this guy's heat map will be absurd.

FCD took on Houston Baptist in a scrimmage yesterday, and while most of the game was
overshadowed by the breaking news of Heath Pearce's departure, there were still quite a few talking
points from the match itself. The match ended up 4-1 in Dallas' favor.
