After slipping into the relegation zone last week Guingamp needed to react fast to avoid getting cast adrift. The win lifts EAG out of the relegation zone on goal difference after Chateauroux lost 3-0 at home to Tours.

Guingamp face will host Ajaccio tonight at the Roudourou, a game that EAG must win if they are to avoid relegation this season.

A victory will not guarentee survival as it is now out of their hands, an EAG victory and a draw in the Chateauroux v Strasbourg match will be enough for EAG to survive but if that match find a winner then a defeat for Vannes against FC Metz is also required.

Guingamp have now gone four games without scoring a goal and 11 games without a league victory. Despite the poor result against bottom of the league Bastia, EAG have actually moved up one place to 17th on goal difference after Chateauroux lost 2-1 away at FC Istres.

In an attempted to become more of a threat in front of goal Victor Zvunka opted for a 4-4-2 formation with Gilmar and Scarpelli leading the attack and Colleau coming into central midfield in place of Diallo.

EAG knew that they would have to rely on results elsewhere if they were to avoid relegation tonight. Vannes pulled off a shock 1-0 victory away at FC Metz which meant that EAG needed a draw in the game between Chateauroux and Strasbourg, however Chateauroux ran out 2-1 winners, a result that relegated Strasbourg.
