So what makes a great goal? I know it seems a easy question but honestly, what makes a goal
truly great? Is it the goal that keeps a side up or a lob from the half way line? The goal that
drags a side back in to a game when they're 2-0 or a last minute winner in injury time? Everyone
has a different variation on what they judge to be a great goal or what the ingredients are that
makes some goals stand out above all others.
This week from the tipster I'm looking at
the weekends fixtures and finding some value.
This weeks accumulator is:...
Man City to beat Sunderland
Notts Forest to beat Preston
Plymouth to beat Coventry
Charlton to beat Millwall
Rochdale to beat Shrewsbury
Available at 20/1
As our bonus this week.
On New Year's Day 1989, Liverpool lost 3-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford, a defeat that left
the club languishing 17 points adrift of runaway leaders Arsenal. A cloud of pessimism descended
over Anfield and the title seemed a million miles away. Sound familiar?
After the winning the title in such scintillating style in 87-88, Liverpool were clear favourites
to retain the title in 88-89.
As part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Bill Shankly's arrival at Anfield, there is
interesting information about the great man flying about all over the place. Here are 10 random
snippets of information some fans might not know about (and if you do, great!)
1. Shanks had to wait almost three years to experience his first Merseyside Derby as manager of
Liverpool.

Green Fields of England was written in support of England at the World Cup in 2010. In the lyrics
we hoped to capture and celebrate, the pride that an Englishman has for England, its character, and
its football team.
This song is for England, not the UK or GB. My late Grandfather did serve in both world wars, and
that line is for him.
It is far too early in the season to guess who will eventually win the plaudits from both
players and writers alike but here are my top five performers of the campaign so far.
5.) Richard Dunne (Aston Villa) – Man City were absolutely crazy to let such
an influential figure go.
Here are some more early World Cup 2010 trash talk competition entries from Algeria and fans.
Ex-Charlton centre back Madjid Bougherra says Algeria play with heart and can beat England. He's
entitled to his opinion, of course, as are the fans who regard these comments as a heaven sent
opportunity to have a go.
One hell of a ding dong London derby this one with League One promotion hopefuls going head to
head at the Valley with Millwall grabbing a late leveler in this eight goal thriller.
Charlton's point gave them a four point cushion in second place and Millwall look like good bets
for a play-off challenge and Kenny Jackett's men did well to battle back after being reduced to ten
men with almost an hour to play.
This season's line up of 24 clubs provides little opportunity for true local derbies. In the past,
the level will have witnessed many a Forest versus County, Charlton versus Millwall and Watford
versus Luton battle. The roster is far from entirely bereft, however - so why do today's fixtures
not treat us to an all Sheffield battle or a Cardiff-Swansea match up?
