Transfer Deadline Day Speculation: Spurs Defender Paul Stalteri and Adel Taarabt? -- See
any and all English Transfers Being Announced Today
Metro: "...Paul Stalteri will be sent to Crystal Palace or QPR for the rest
of the season. Adel Taarabt could be joining him at Loftus Road.
West Ham United manager Alan Curbishley has today resigned. The former Charlton boss has been at
Upton Park for just under two years now since taking over at the club back in January 2007.
Curbishley is supposedly unhappy at the way the club handled transfer deadlings behind his back and
has decided enough is enough and he has now gone.
While Slaven Bilic may not be returning to Upton Park as manager, there are plenty of other
candidates in the frame to be Alan Curbishley's successor. The former Charlton boss walked away
earlier this week, claiming there had been a breach of trust between himself and the board. The
latter ...
Sky Blue Thinking Like the promise of a meteor shower on a clear night or (less so in recent times)
the results filtering through of a General Election, transfer deadline day is one of those things
you promise yourself is worth staying up for, but often falls short of the wild speculation. In
past seasons the summer window hasn't ‘slammed shut', as many commentators put it, but rather
creaked to a close with no major shocks other than the odd DaMarcus Beasley joining Charlton on
loan.
Notable arrivals: Nadir Belhadj (Lens, loan), Jerome Thomas (Charlton), Armand Traore (Arsenal,
loan), Younes Kaboul (Tottenham), Peter Crouch (Liverpool), Ben Sahar (Chelsea, loan), Glenn Little
(Reading) Notable departures: Steven Davis (Rangers), Pedro Mendes (Rangers), Sulley Muntari (Inter
Milan) What grade.
West Ham legend Paolo Di Canio could be set to make a sensational return to the club as manager
after being installed as one of the favourites to replace Alan Curbishley according to Datasport.
Former Charlton chief Curbishley quit his post at Upton Park today, and while the bookmakers have
installed Croatia national team boss Slaven [.
Alan Curbishley while wishing new West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola well, has also warned him to
watch his back. The Italian succeed the former Charlton boss at Upton Park, to become only the 12th
permanent manager in the club's 113-year history. But the former Italy Under-21 boss has been
warned by Curbishley that promises are not always [.

United), Thomas Sorensen (Aston Villa), Seyi Olofinjana (Wolves), Dave Kitson (Reading) Notable

Bakari Koné... not actual size
Premiership -- Paul Robinson has had a wretched start to his Blackburn career. The Premiership's
second worst goalkeeper last season, is off to an even worse beginning to the 2008/9 campaign. So
far, 31 shots faced - 7 goals conceded. Leaving aside Robinson (as Fabio Capello should have)
Blackburn have been playing well.
Notable arrivals: Nadir Belhadj (Lens, loan), Jerome Thomas (Charlton), Armand Traore (Arsenal,
loan), Younes Kaboul (Tottenham), Peter Crouch (Liverpool), Ben Sahar (Chelsea, loan), Glenn Little
(Reading) Notable departures: Steven Davis (Rangers), Pedro Mendes (Rangers), Sulley Muntari (Inter
Milan) No deal.
Departing West Ham boss Alan Curbishley claims he was "gutted" after felling forced out
of the club. The 50-year-old, former Charlton boss had originally joined the Hammers in 1975 as a
player, and spent four years at Upton Park before joining Birmingham. He returned to the club in
2006 as manager after replacing Alan Pardew, although despite [.
Former West Ham striker Paolo Di Canio has this afternoon confirmed he is interested in the vacant
position at Upton Park. The Italian legend spent five very successful years at the East London
club, where he became a firm fan favourite during his time at the club.
After Alan Curbishley's departure on Wednesday, several of the bookies favourites have ruled
themselves out of the race for the managerial post, including Slaven Bilic and Stuart Pearce.
Sunderland boss Roy Keane has backed Alan Curbishley's decision to quit Upton Park, despite signing
the two players the former Charlton boss was most upset about losing. Curbishley quit the Hammers
yesterday - blaming a breach of trust and confidence as his reasoning for leaving- and fellow
Premier League manager Keane has revealed that if he [.
West Ham chairman and owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson maintains the east London club are heading in
the right direction. In the wake of what maybe viewed by most Hammers fans as a fiasco, the
Icelandic chief remains calm following the departure of manager Alan Curbishley. The ex-Charlton
chief quit yesterday after having players sold over his head, and [.
The Arsenal Ladies beat Charlton 6-2 over the weekend. Rachel Yankey had a hat trick, while Gilly
Flaherty, Kim Little and Kelly Smith scored a goal a piece. DC only managed a draw, and it was a
rather depressing end to what could have been a spectacular game. Arsenal won 4-0 and I
"watched" while working Saturday morning.
It's official. After months of searching for a new club, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink one of my
favorite players of all-time has announced his retirement from football.
Hasselbaink's most recent spell, with Cardiff City, ended in a messy divorce after the impetuous
striker was not offered a contract extension following last season.
Charlton Life scribe and thinking ladies crumpet Sco questions whether we'll be remembering the
present in the future....... If someone were to ask me what has changed about football over the
past 10 years, and whether those changes have been for the benefit of the game or not, my immediate
answer would be "money".
Notable arrivals: Jerome Thomas (Charlton), Armand Traore (Arsenal, loan), Younes Kaboul

Dave McIntyre/BBC606 - Buzsaky is back
Akos Buzsaky is back and hoping to feature against Southampton on Sunday week.
Buzsaky played the second half of a reserve game against Charlton on Tuesday afternoon and looked
encouragingly sharp for a player who had been out since since April.
Alan Curbishley has handed in his resignation as manager of West Ham United. In a statement
released by the club, West Ham confirms it has accepted the resignation, and has not yet announced
any plans for a successor. Curbishley became manager of the club in December 2006, several months
after leaving his long-time job at Charlton [.

London Informer/Paul Warburton - It's going to hap-Ben
QPR will play the waiting game over Ben Watson - and eventually laugh all the way to the bank.
Renewed speculation over the weekend predicted Rangers would splash out £2m for the Crystal
Palace midfielder, who turned down a late bid from Nottingham Forest, having set his heart on a
move across London to Loftus Road.

There is a (boring!) break this weekend for International games and then five league games during
Septembe, at the end of which, QPR fans will have a better idea of how the team may do this
season.
September Games:
QPR play Southampton on (Sunday) September 14.
FO hero Jonny Brain
Weekend Wager summary -- Despite the ignominy of Gillingham's freakish 7-0 defeat at Shrewsbury it
was a satisfactory first week for FO's bets. A one point stake on each of the 15 selections
returned an overall profit of approximately four points. Hats off to Macclesfield goalie Jonny
Brain who put behind him a dreadful start to the season, keeping out 24 Bournemouth attempts and
landing a FO a 4/1 winner.
The Premiership's 8th-leading goalscorer of all time, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, retired today, and
I'm amazed at how quietly the whole thing has gone down.
The Dutchman is one of two players never to have played in the Eredivisie and still be selected to
Holland's national team, scoring 9 goals in 23 games for the the Oranje.

Spurs boss Juande Ramos has warned striker Darren Bent he is expecting him to deliver the goods on
the pitch. Despite the former Charlton man scoring the winner in the UEFA Cup on Thursday against
Wisla Krakow, Ramos believes he needs to prove his worth following the departures of Robbie Keane
and Dimitar Berbatov this summer.
"Crisis" is an over-used word in football. When your badly-run bank has to be taken over
by the government, that's a crisis. When your football team doesn't win a match, it's a mere
misfortune. But I'm not alone in feeling something deeper is amiss at Charlton right now. But I
can't put my finger on what's quite wrong.
