USSF announced today that the USL Second Division has received sanctioning for the 2010 season despite having only six active clubs.
The following clubs will compete in USL-2 this season, playing a 24 game schedule with each team playing each other twice at home and twice on the road: Charlotte Eagles, Charleston Battery, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Real Maryland Monarchs, Harrsiburg City Islanders and the Richmond Kickers.

Rapids GK Steward Ceus has tweeted that he'll be returning to the USL-2 Charlotte Eagles on loan again this year. Ceus joined Charlotte in June last year for the remaining part of their season, playing 10 times for them and helped to lead the Eagles to a 4th place finish and runners-up in the Championship game.

Thursday afternoon, the Harrisburg City Islanders announced the signing of local product JT Noone. Noone, as you probably remember, has been a trialist with the Union since shortly after the Superdraft in January. Noone has signed a 21-day contract with the Islanders and the team plans to take him on the road for its two matches against Charleston and Charlotte; he is rumored to be wearing #15.

U.S. Soccer's knockout tournament is officially back. After two months of intermittent play-in matches between a handful of MLS matches, the tournament proper began between a number of amateur and second/third division clubs in action.

Perhaps the only upset emerging from Tuesday night's opening-round matches was the triumph of USL-2 side Richmond Kickers, winners over USSF D-2 side Crystal Palace Baltimore 1-0.

The Union announced Friday that they have signed midfielder and local product JT Noone. The terms of the signing, following league policy, were undisclosed.

Noone, grew up in Harrisburg where he attended Central Dauphin High School. He played at Temple University where he was named to ESPN Magazine Men's Soccer Academic All-District 2 University Division Second Team as a sophomore.

The Carolina RailHawks downed Southern Derby rival Charleston Battery 2-1 in a friendly today at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston.

The match, which received limited publicity from either team in advance, was played in front of a largely empty stadium. The first half ended 0-0, but the RailHawks will have felt they lost the first half when Kupono Low was tackled hard just before halftime and had to leave the game with a knee injury.

El Bolton ha mostrado pocas novedades, muy pocas si quiere mantenerse en permier League, esta temporada salio el Portero Ali Al-Habsi que se sumara como refuerzo del Wigan, Asi como han salido pocos tampoco han llegado pocos jugadores, el primero en llegar fue Robbie Blake, un viejo zorro que procede del Burnley y que curiosamente el año pasado no tuvo su mejor temporada, me atrevo a decir que tuvo una de sus peores temporadas con tan solo dos goles en 31 apariciones, no se si este jugador se pueda considerar un refuerzo pero sera una de las alternativas de gol del Bolton, el otro jugador que llega es para mi gusto un magnifico jugador que no tuvo mucha continuidad con el Manchester city pero que seguramente demostrara de que esta hecho, hablo de Martin Petrov, el búlgaro de 31 años llega gratis y seguro sera el pilar del ataque de este bolton.

The West Coast is getting USL PRO representation next year with the announcement of the new LA Blues franchise, set to begin play in 2011. The club, which had been rumored for about a month to be the newest franchise for U.S. soccer's new third division, will play in Cal State Fullerton's Titan Stadium and be coached by Charlie Naimo, the former head coach of the Pali Blues (a professional women's soccer club) and team general manager.
